Elimination

By Michele

An Elimination post at 2 in the afternoon?

Well I might not be home tonight, so better earlier than never. I screwed up last week and we just won't have that again.

Feel free to make your predictions. As you can see from the sidebar, I am wishing Katherine to the cornfields.

Can I just say, America, you SUCK.

Katherine.

based on last night's performances, Katherine should go. But since when is the ejectee really judged on performances.

I'm guessing it might be, jaw-droppingly enough, Chris.

Posted by: Jon at May 10, 2006 03:32 PM

Interesting Chris predicitons, Carin. I'd like to see Chris and Katherine singled out tonight as the bottom two vote-getters.

I used to enjoy Chris's performances, but his warbling wore out its welcome pretty quickly. And while Yamin was very listenable and looking pretty spiffy, not too hard on the eyes at all, Chris was just fakey rocky trembly irritating, on top of boring.

Chris can sing any way you want, as long as it's like Eddie Vedder. Buh-bye.

Even though dial idol says my Elliot prediction is in a world of hurt. I stand by it.

As for Chris, whom dial idol says is in serious trouble, I really think he's going to sell a lot of albums. Win or lose. He's a rocker, he will always be a rocker and that is the extent of his talent and desires. He'll sell albums. A lot of them. At least as long as Clive doesn't try to boy band him like he did Bo Bice.

This is a seriously talented and marketable final 4. Heck I'll even go 6 deep and include Paris and Pick Pickler. All these kids will have albums soon. And deservedly so.

Posted by: chris at May 10, 2006 07:14 PM

Katharine should go, but Elliott's lack of a fan base (because of his lack of charisma) will make him the odd man out, unfortunately...it's a shame. I think he's the best pure singer left in this competition.

Posted by: Samit at May 10, 2006 09:05 PM

Woo Hoo! It's time. Hi Everyone!

Posted by: Chris at May 10, 2006 09:06 PM

that's why I keep saying Elliot Samit. Everyone keeps saying he did so good. But i just don't think he has the voters to keep him around much longer.

Posted by: Chris at May 10, 2006 09:07 PM

Another sucky group song. Let's just do this old soviet style. Line the 4 up and have someone club the loser on the head. it would be more entertaining than this stupid group song.

Posted by: Chris at May 10, 2006 09:12 PM

Yeah, he really brought it last night — both songs were fantastic — but I just think too many people will vote for Katharine's looks over Elliott's voice. Also, I'm sure the voters are conscious of the fact that Katharine's the only female competitor left, and I feel like because of that, there's a "balance factor". But we shall see...after all these campy group numbers are over!

Posted by: Samit at May 10, 2006 09:13 PM

Well, Michele, there's Taylor doing some hunka hunka burning love!

Posted by: Samit at May 10, 2006 09:16 PM

Does anybody besides me hate Elliott's vibrato? I mean, listen any time he holds a note for more than a second -- he's got this thick warble that just grates on my nerves something fierce.

Posted by: Jaquandor at May 10, 2006 09:17 PM

Kat's looks can't hurt her, but looks did nothing for Becky O'Donnell, very little for Pick Pickler and nothing for Lisa Tucker. I think she goes next week if not this one.

Posted by: Chris at May 10, 2006 09:20 PM

I agree, Chris...the final has gotta be Taylor and Chris.

Posted by: Samit at May 10, 2006 09:22 PM

Ok, so my predictions gone. Elliot is in top 2. He'll be in the bottom 3 next week though...

Maybe Elliot can make the finals. Interesting.

Posted by: Chris at May 10, 2006 09:27 PM

WOW.

Posted by: Samit at May 10, 2006 09:28 PM

rebecca romijn personally requests a taylor performance? he's so winning.

Posted by: clara* at May 10, 2006 09:28 PM

NO FUCKING WAY!!!!

(sorry about the post violations, but that was the absolute last thing i expected)

Posted by: Samit at May 10, 2006 09:29 PM

Well, that was mildly unexpected -- but then, doesn't the final four usually see a pretty surprising exit? There was LaToya London from last year...anyway, I haven't been wild about Chris, but I sure as hell liked him more than Elliott and Katherine. Damn.

Posted by: Jaquandor at May 10, 2006 09:30 PM

Dialidol is right again.

Posted by: Todd at May 10, 2006 09:31 PM

What the hell, America? Lame.

Posted by: Nikki at May 10, 2006 09:32 PM

For me, that's the most surprising exit since Bucky made the top 12 instead of Gedeon (although Paris leaving instead of Elliott last week was a mild shocker as well). I can't believe that Chris was the lowest vote-getter. It just doesn't make any sense.

Get your shit together, America.

Posted by: Samit at May 10, 2006 09:34 PM

Well, so long all -- I'm off to cheer on Terry on Survivor. (Well, not til tomorrow, but still....)

Posted by: Jaquandor at May 10, 2006 09:35 PM

Does anyone know what next week's theme is?

Posted by: Samit at May 10, 2006 09:37 PM

I do know of a lot of people who were tiring of his "one trick pony" stuff and the fact that he never smiled. HOWEVER, I really think that Kat should have gone tonight. I wonder who will get his votes.

Posted by: Chris at May 10, 2006 09:41 PM

See you next week everyone.

Posted by: Chris at May 10, 2006 09:41 PM

The ghosts of Jennifer Hudson and LaToya London have a new friend to play with.

Chris Daughtry leaves tonight, sure. Dialidol.com predicts the results again. But Why? A couple of possibiilities:

LaToya said before she was voted off that she was comfortable with her future. BANG! She's gone. America saw her as already having a contract outside Idol. Jennifer Hudson also was interviewed talking about a future acting career.

Or:

Chris's fans got complacent and didn't vote.
Elliott & Kat's fans stepped it up, and Taylor's folks, who had been expected to sit back on a week Taylor-made for Mr. Hicks didn't sit on their hands.

Don't cry for Chris. He's been given the chance to either get a solo album started early with 19 Entertainment, or, if Simon & Clive are on crack, they'll let Chris sign with a real company & have him in the top 40 by September.

So: who will benefit from Chris going away? I believe everyone BUT Kat. This means Taylor Hicks will be the next American Idol unless he eats too many peanut & banana sandwiches between now & May 23rd.

One last thought - Elliott last night looked like the negative from a picture of Sammy Davis Jr. in Vegas. He reminds me of him - except Elliott CANT'T dance, has a vibrator vibrato from hell, and needs an extreme dental makeover on ABC.

Posted by: Chuckles at May 10, 2006 09:48 PM

My jaw just dropped. Unbelievable is about all I can say. "Chris is the American Idol". Kudo's to Chris no matter what! I'm sure Queen would be happy to have you as their lead. I'll be first in line for the ticket. Tonight was the last show I'll be watching this season of american idol.

Posted by: Rachelle at May 10, 2006 09:55 PM

Next week is Clive Davis Night, where they will sing three songs each, one selected by a judge, one by themselves and one by Davis.

Could be interesting.

See y'all then!

Posted by: Chris at May 10, 2006 09:58 PM

Yay. I'm pretty happy....Mcpheevah should have departed, but Chris is second-best. He and his one-trick warbling ponydom have been irritating the hell out of me for weeks.

And Elliot is still in the game. YAY.

Posted by: SarahW at May 10, 2006 10:30 PM

absolutely upsetting....Chris is the NEXT American IDOL

Posted by: brettmemeavery at May 10, 2006 10:31 PM

Jaquandor - Don't you think Chris's warble is worse than Elliot's?

Posted by: SarahW at May 10, 2006 10:32 PM

My comment from April 11 was deleted but I had Taylor winning back then and the whiny girls hitting the road

Posted by: Candace at May 10, 2006 10:47 PM

I'm done with Idol for the season. And, what's the deal with picking on someone's teeth? What do I care if he sings well? Katherine had perfect teeth, but is boring as hell to listen to.

Posted by: Carin at May 11, 2006 08:41 AM

Chris would've been out next week anyway - on a pure performance level he was better than Katherine (although missing her two greatest assets) but I wouldn't rank him consistently above Elliot or Taylor, especially lately.

My guess is Katherine will make the final two just because the producers love it being girl vs. guy. And the guy will probably be Taylor, even though I've been really impressed with Elliot lately.
