5/9

By Michele

Good evening and welcome to Elvis night.

This could be interesting. If anyone does In the Ghetto, I am going to put a rock through the tv.

I'd love to see Taylor get down with some hunka hunka burnin' love!

GAH!!!!!!!

Somebody get me a rock, stat!

You know what kids? Elliot deserves to win this. Big time.

Elvis isn't dead. He's out looking for Katherin so he can kill her.

Anyone here? Hello? Anyway, what was with Ryan's entrance tonight? I expected him to come out and announce the first item up for bids.

I'm here, hey, Jaquandor!

Posted by: Tammy at May 9, 2006 08:06 PM

Human evolution, in my opinion:

Fire --> the wheel --> sliced bread --> Taylor Hicks.

Posted by: Jaquandor at May 9, 2006 08:06 PM

Hey, everyone!

I thought Simon was wrong on Taylor...I liked it.

Posted by: Samit at May 9, 2006 08:14 PM

Hi Everyone! Just catching up via TiVo. Wow Taylor rocked. Gee Taylor in Elvis week. Kind of stacked in his favor.

Posted by: Chris at May 9, 2006 08:14 PM

Chris: I'm likin' the sunglasses.

Posted by: Denise at May 9, 2006 08:14 PM

Chris Daughtry's sunglasses that is... :)

Posted by: Denise at May 9, 2006 08:15 PM

Chris: Nice singing. A bit tame on the performance. And I wish he'd make up his mind about the beard -- those sideburns that just fade away into his head are weirding me out.

Posted by: Jaquandor at May 9, 2006 08:15 PM

Did anyone else see Elvis in the audience? I swear I saw him.

Posted by: Denise at May 9, 2006 08:16 PM

Wow. Chris showed up to play today. that was great. Almost as good as Taylor. Maybe as good. Wow.

Posted by: Chris at May 9, 2006 08:17 PM

Chris: Good stuff...that was a welcome respite after the screaming of last week's "I Dare You".

Posted by: Samit at May 9, 2006 08:18 PM

What was that comment of Ryan's about boxer/briefs. TMI, Ryan. TMI!

Posted by: Denise at May 9, 2006 08:18 PM

Sorry Elliot. You did good to get this far. I think he's going home after this. This is bleh.

Posted by: Chris at May 9, 2006 08:19 PM

Elliott: I really hate his vibrato. He'd have a really nice voice if the vibrato wasn't so damnably thick. And he seems to have raided Ryan Seacrest's wardrobe.

Posted by: Jaquandor at May 9, 2006 08:19 PM

"Best performance so far"? Did Simon raid Paula's stash?

Posted by: Jaquandor at May 9, 2006 08:20 PM

Elliott was fantastic and spot-on with the vocals as usual...I just hope he doesn't go this week; Simon's right — he looks to be on the bubble.

Posted by: Samit at May 9, 2006 08:20 PM

He finished decently, but it's the weakest from him in a while. Not a good time for that.

Posted by: Chris at May 9, 2006 08:20 PM

Yeah, I definitely pick Elliot for Most Improved. I really didn't think Elliot or Katherine would last this long in the competition.

Posted by: Denise at May 9, 2006 08:21 PM

Ok, I guess I'm drunk without alcohol. I didn't like that, but all 3 judges and the audience did...

Posted by: Chris at May 9, 2006 08:22 PM

Katherine doing Hound Dog...nooooooo!

Posted by: Denise at May 9, 2006 08:25 PM

Hound dog with changes. Hmm, that's a risk. Let's see if she pulls it off.

Posted by: Chris at May 9, 2006 08:25 PM

I would expect "Hound Dog" from Chris or Taylor...let's see if Katharine can pull this off. I'm skeptical.

Posted by: Samit at May 9, 2006 08:27 PM

God she bugs me.

Posted by: Tammy at May 9, 2006 08:27 PM

Katherine: OK, if Simon doesn't call this "karaoke", he needs to be beaten with something heavy. As for Kat -- OK. Didn't hate it, wasn't crazy about it. I feel a bit let down because she's our last source for shiny breasts this year. (Much as I love Taylor, God help us if he comes out with shiny breasts....)

Posted by: Jaquandor at May 9, 2006 08:28 PM

Oh Simon, it wasn't that bad. Actually I thought she pulled it off ok. Not the best, but decent.

Posted by: Chris at May 9, 2006 08:28 PM

The ending was great, but like Randy said, she forgot the lyrics in the middle, and the dance moves seemed to be leaving her a little breathless. Not fantastic; as of now, if her second song isn't much better, she's gone.

Posted by: Samit at May 9, 2006 08:29 PM

Think so Samit? I really think it's going to take a miracle to save Elliot. He's got a bullseye big time. Remember, Kat only 2 weeks ago was in the top 2. That's a big fan base for Elliot to overcome.

Posted by: Chris at May 9, 2006 08:34 PM

In the Ghetto! Uh oh, there goes Michelle's TV!

Posted by: Denise at May 9, 2006 08:34 PM

In a yugo!!! Virtual beer to the first one to chime in with where that came from...

Posted by: Chris at May 9, 2006 08:36 PM

Taylor 2.0: You know, I'm wondering if it wouldn't be best for him to lose this competition, just so he doesn't have to record the inevitable album of pop crap. He's too good at this stuff. Just excellent.

Posted by: Jaquandor at May 9, 2006 08:36 PM

That was his best today. Real good. Gee, Taylor in Elvis week. Kind of stacked...

Posted by: Chris at May 9, 2006 08:36 PM

You make a valid point, Chris. I guess we'll just have to see — it all depends on Elliott's second song.

Taylor: Soulful is right...I thought that was really great, especially without all the spazzing. Great vocal.

Posted by: Samit at May 9, 2006 08:37 PM

Ok, this is good too. It's all over folks. Elliot or Kat goes this week, the other next. It will be Taylor vs Chris in 2 weeks. Mail it in.

Posted by: Chris at May 9, 2006 08:39 PM

My mom's not liking any of this because "nobody sounds like Elvis!"

Posted by: Denise at May 9, 2006 08:40 PM

Limbaugh

Posted by: Todd at May 9, 2006 08:40 PM

Chris: I thought this song was fantastic for him. Even though he was singing most of it in the lower register, his pitch was perfect, and when he turned it up near the end, I really started rockin'. Good stuff.

Posted by: Samit at May 9, 2006 08:40 PM

The virutal 40 oz goes to Todd. :)

Chris was good enough. He's safe.

Posted by: Chris at May 9, 2006 08:41 PM

Chris was pretty good, again. I agree that these two are the likely final two. Kat could crash the party, but I doubt it.

Posted by: Jaquandor at May 9, 2006 08:44 PM

I almost want to get tickets to the AI tour, just to see Taylor.

Posted by: Denise at May 9, 2006 08:46 PM

Elliott: Singing a song that starts off with "If you're lookin' for trouble". Wearing a pink shirt.

Come ON!

Posted by: Jaquandor at May 9, 2006 08:47 PM

It does seemed destined to be Taylor and Chris...that'll be a really tough choice because they're both rockers.

Elliott: I thought this vocal was awesome, as always, and he finally has started to hint at some personality...I dunno, I think that after that performance, the onus is on Katharine to turn up the heat.

Posted by: Samit at May 9, 2006 08:49 PM

I've heard this song all my life and I've just wondered - what's a "mountain jack"? Is that like a lumber jack?

I liked seeing the band having fun with that song.

Posted by: Denise at May 9, 2006 08:50 PM

Decent performance. Elliot has a great voice. Hate to see him go but I think it's going to happen.

Posted by: Chris at May 9, 2006 08:50 PM

Well, Jaquandor...you know what they say: tough guys wear pink.

(You had to see that rebuttal coming.)

Posted by: Samit at May 9, 2006 08:50 PM

Ok, what's with the g-rated language. Hey where's Beth?

Posted by: Chris at May 9, 2006 08:51 PM

Katherine: Huh. This isn't really doing it for me. Maybe it's her time to go, and not Elliott's? Some real pitch problems here.

Posted by: Jaquandor at May 9, 2006 08:56 PM

Bare midriff on Kat. Good-bye Elliot.

Posted by: Todd at May 9, 2006 08:56 PM

That last note from Katharine was like "eek" for me, but the rest of the performance was pretty good. I think we could be dealing with "guys nights out" for the next two weeks.

Posted by: Samit at May 9, 2006 08:57 PM

I don't know. I'm now wavering. That was poor. Maybe Elliot stays. Bearing in mind, the person in the pimp spot hasn't been eliminated yet this year. Not the best songs, forgot the lyric in the first song. That doesn't bode well.

Posted by: Chris at May 9, 2006 08:58 PM

Order of today:

1. Taylor (gee go figure)
2. Chris (ditto)

3. Elliot
4. Kat

Going home: Elliot (Kat should but he will)

See you tomorrow everyone!

Posted by: Chris at May 9, 2006 09:00 PM

I just expected a lot better from the final four on Elvis night. The whole thing was kind of...meh.

Other than Taylor, no one seemed to geniunely enjoy what they were doing.
