By Michele

Did I hear right? Rod Stewart night?

meh.

Comments

I have no legs. I have no legs. I have no legs. (If you can't name the movie I'm sorta quoting, you get the love)

Good evening one and all. Yes, Rod Stewart night.

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 08:01 PM

Oh, gawd.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:02 PM

I always feel like I should hate Rod Stewart, but I don't. Weird. Anyhoo, good evening all!

(Brief prognostication: For Rod Stewart night, Ace's airy delivery might actually serve him well for once.)

Posted by: Jaquandor at April 18, 2006 08:04 PM

He's too old to be having that child. Looks like a grandpa

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 08:04 PM

Judging from that little preview I actually might like tonight.

Posted by: C. Rose at April 18, 2006 08:05 PM

That baby won't go thirsty.

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 08:06 PM

Ozzy would totally pwn this song. Mheh.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:06 PM

And I'm now even less a Chris Daughtry fan.
Hate this arrangement.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:07 PM

What a wonderful world. Hmm. Not bad so far. He's got a great voice. Needs to smile a bit more. He looks angry when he sings.

Posted by: Chris at April 18, 2006 08:07 PM

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz is it over?

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 08:08 PM

Chris: I'm liking this, but Bo Bice did almost exactly the same thing with a Jim Croce tune last year, with the guitar player sitting on the steps and Chris nodding to him at a key point in the song. And is it just me, or is Chris completely disregarding the live audience in favor of staring right into the camera? Pretty good, though. Nice to hear his pipes for something other than shouted rocking.

Posted by: Jaquandor at April 18, 2006 08:08 PM

Even Simon clapped. Wow.

Posted by: Chris at April 18, 2006 08:08 PM

To quote simon "it was just Okay, it was boring"

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 08:08 PM

Shorter Paula: "I love everyone. Duhhh."

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:09 PM

Wow. Chris blew me away...He knew he had to address Simon's attacks of "indulgence", and he did so with a flourish. Woo!

Posted by: Samit at April 18, 2006 08:09 PM

Simon stole some of Paula's stash, I think.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:09 PM

Neither of them can have mine. It's too pricey

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 08:10 PM

Wow..Paris looks classy tonight. Was that a suit?

Posted by: C. Rose at April 18, 2006 08:11 PM

What, Chad, your stash?

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:12 PM

Neither of them can have mine. It's too pricey

Ahh, I'll take the Pepsi Challenge with that Amsterdam shit any day of the fuckin' week....

Posted by: Jaquandor at April 18, 2006 08:12 PM

I just want some of what Paula's eating/smoking/drinking/whatever so watching AI won't be so painful.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:14 PM

Closing my eyes, Paris sounds like a nine-year old kid being interviewed by Al Roker outside the NBC Studios. Eek!

Posted by: Jaquandor at April 18, 2006 08:14 PM

Your talking to a guy who on a whim flew to A-dam for a weekend.

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 08:14 PM

Paris really shouldn't talk about the Easter bunny and shit, because she already sounds like she's six years old. I wish she would just sing instead of speak.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:15 PM

What the hell? Is Paris working as a secretary?

Posted by: Samit at April 18, 2006 08:15 PM

P.S. Ease up on the lip gloss, sugar.

Posted by: Samit at April 18, 2006 08:16 PM

That was a "Pulp Fiction" quote -- I couldn't tell the Amsterdam shit from a mix of basil and oregano if I tried!

Posted by: Jaquandor at April 18, 2006 08:16 PM

WTF is this song, anyway?

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:16 PM

LOL with Samit

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 08:16 PM

Paris reminds me of Diano DiGarmo -- great voice, but no matter what she sings, it just feels inauthentic. I just can't get beyond her age, and the fact that she can't possibly have felt the things she's singing about.

Posted by: Jaquandor at April 18, 2006 08:17 PM

Loving it. And I must be the only person who doesn't mind her voice.

Posted by: C. Rose at April 18, 2006 08:17 PM

So I kinda zoned out when Rod Stewart was talking--are they just doing that oldie stuff he's into now?

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:18 PM

Singing voice is very pleasent. Speaking voice sounds very young. But then again, Britney Spears sounded like a 5 year old when she began.

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 08:18 PM

Love her voice, but I just didn't get anything from this song. I know it had to be good, but it just didn't stand out for me.

Posted by: Chris at April 18, 2006 08:18 PM

Ditto, Chris.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:18 PM

Thanks, Chad!

Regardless of outfit and makeup, though, that performance was awesome.

Posted by: Samit at April 18, 2006 08:19 PM

Haha, Simon's sipping the happy fuel.

Told ya he stole Paula's shit.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:19 PM

On a side note, I'm never going to forget Ryan saying Simon was laying eggs at his house over the weekend.

Posted by: C. Rose at April 18, 2006 08:20 PM

He said that?
Seacrest is so lame.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:20 PM

On a side note, what's a good site to buy a computer? Needed for video and editing

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 08:23 PM

Yay, the only reason I even watch this show any more.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:23 PM

"Flattery is a great form of humor"? My Bartlett's just caught fire.

Posted by: Ian S. at April 18, 2006 08:24 PM

I totally agree Beth

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 08:24 PM

President Bartlett caught on fire? Damn that West Wing gets better and better :p

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 08:25 PM

LOL Ian!

(I can't believe I just typed "lol")

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:25 PM

THAT would be an episode to watch, Chad.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:25 PM

They bleeped "balls"? Ho-kay....Taylor doing Sam Cooke. He's not doing much special with this song. But then, who cares? Still my boy!

Posted by: Jaquandor at April 18, 2006 08:26 PM

Bring the spaz, Taylor! Dammit!

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:26 PM

Was Taylor just serenading a guy? I can honestly say I never made it through one episode of West Wing

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 08:26 PM

Taylor is nothing if no consistent. Consistenly good. Not his best but still way up there.

Posted by: Chris at April 18, 2006 08:27 PM

Well, Chad...there are the usual places: Best Buy, Circuit City, CompUSA, etc.

There's also Dell.com, if you want to go that route...

Posted by: Samit at April 18, 2006 08:28 PM

What Simon said.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:28 PM

Chad: Start at www.techbargains.com. I once found a cupon code there for 40% off a dell laptop. that site has all kinds of goodies. Including an IHOP special...

Posted by: Chris at April 18, 2006 08:29 PM

Chad, probably CNet or PC Magazine have reviews on good sources for buying online.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:29 PM

Wow, Beth -- if the shirts at Taylor's first solo tour don't have "Bring the spaz!" on them, it will be a crime.

Posted by: Jaquandor at April 18, 2006 08:29 PM

I agree, Jaquandor...Jack Bauer can say "son of a bitch," but "grab them by the balls" gets bleeped? I don't get it.

Posted by: Samit at April 18, 2006 08:30 PM

Thanks for the pointers re: the computer search.

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 08:30 PM

Jaq- I should totally copyright that and sell the shirts.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:30 PM

My guess is Stewart said something more British and earthier than mere "balls".

Posted by: Ian S. at April 18, 2006 08:30 PM

Hey, I can turn off the TV now! Katherine, Elliot, Hickler, and that fucking eunuch are the only ones left!

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:32 PM

No shit Elliot likes the standards. Real shocker.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:33 PM

My family stopped our Seder last weekend to watch the elimination show. Shockingly, my cousin is an Elliott fan. My cousin, she's dead to me now

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 08:34 PM

Another shocker: I hate this.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:34 PM

My cousin, she's dead to me now

HA!

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:35 PM

this is good, but I don't think it will keep him from the bottom 3. Sorry Elliot.

Posted by: Chris at April 18, 2006 08:35 PM

Elliott: Damn, this is one of my favorite songs ever. And damn, he's making it...dull. To invoke a Simonism, it's "cabaret". Once again, he's got a really nice voice and it's not making an impression on me at all.

Posted by: Jaquandor at April 18, 2006 08:35 PM

Technically perfect, but there's no signature on it.

Posted by: Ian S. at April 18, 2006 08:36 PM

Elliott has brought it every week, and the voters have yet to reward him. It's a damn shame.

Posted by: Samit at April 18, 2006 08:36 PM

"That fucking eunuch"??? Beth, you're on fire tonight!

Posted by: Jaquandor at April 18, 2006 08:36 PM

He's got soul like a pet rock. WTF is Paula on?

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:36 PM

Hah, Simon agrees with me.

Posted by: Ian S. at April 18, 2006 08:37 PM

NO SIGNATURE--well said.

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 08:37 PM

as always Simon nails it. Great vocal. It was nearly technically perfect. But just didn't grab you.

Posted by: Chris at April 18, 2006 08:37 PM

the hairdo kelly a Rod Stewart have loooks better on Rod

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 08:38 PM

I'm still dying from Paula saying he brings SOUL to the standards.

Up next, Stewart will slap Hickler in the face.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:38 PM

High school recital time.

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 08:39 PM

PICK PICKER everyone! Woo Hoo. Looks like a blonde Cher. Sounds like it too.

Posted by: Chris at April 18, 2006 08:39 PM

Either that, Beth, or he'll grab her boobs.

Posted by: Samit at April 18, 2006 08:40 PM

She has a bright career ahead singing at Disney World as a Disney princess. At a non-Disney hotel.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:40 PM

That was, uhh, "pitchy" as they say.

Posted by: Ian S. at April 18, 2006 08:40 PM

Yeah...that was, uh...not that great.

Posted by: Samit at April 18, 2006 08:40 PM

EXACTLY Beth! Like lounge #2 on a 20 year cruise boat.

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 08:40 PM

Ok, everyone knows I've stood up for Kellie here. But that was the worst performance she's had.

Posted by: Chris at April 18, 2006 08:40 PM

Bottom of the bottom 3 unless Acehole saves her.

Posted by: Chris at April 18, 2006 08:42 PM

Ahhh, Miss Pickler's shiny breasts. Sadly, her breasts don't have very good diction so I can't understand a damn thing she's singing. And the shiny breasts just went WILDLY off key at the end, when the breasts attempted a register they just can't handle. Ugh. That sucked.

In a way, I'll miss the shiny breasts. They're so shiny. Just two little perky globes of shininess!

Posted by: Jaquandor at April 18, 2006 08:42 PM

I think Moses came and visited Simon's hair. It's parted perfectly down the middle tonight.

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 08:42 PM

She doesn't even care, she knows she's not going anywhere...yet.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:42 PM

Ace live? He's not dead yet? Damn. I was hoping...

Posted by: Chris at April 18, 2006 08:43 PM

Beth, like that crew on Survivor who stopped playing last week because they knew their alliance was strong. (I watch too much TV)

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 08:43 PM

HAHA! Ace looks retarded without his long, luscious locks...maybe this'll get him kicked off — perhaps people will see him and realize, "Damn, he's actually not that good-looking."

Posted by: Samit at April 18, 2006 08:44 PM

I haven't been watching Survivor this season, but I tried. Couldn't get into it.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:44 PM

What? I missed it! Did he chop off his hair, or is it in pigtails tonigh?

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:45 PM

tonight, too

PIMF

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:46 PM

Beth, like that crew on Survivor who stopped playing last week because they knew their alliance was strong.

You know, that show would be a lot more interesting if the producers could find a way to break up such crap. Every year, the same thing -- one faction gets a big numerical advantage and then just picks off the others. (This from a guy who religiously watches "The Apprentice". Sigh....)

Posted by: Jaquandor at April 18, 2006 08:46 PM

Chef Boy-ar-dee ravioli, or mac and cheese?

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 08:47 PM

Let me apologize to Michele in advance if I happen to have an outburst of caps and exclamation points.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:47 PM

Hey Beth, I've been meaning to ask if you were the Beth *A on Misha's site earlier today who posted that Rocky Mountain News story?

Posted by: Chris at April 18, 2006 08:47 PM

Oh, look! Michael Jackson on AI!

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:48 PM

Ah, false alarm...it's just tied back into a ridiculous-looking pigtail.

Posted by: Samit at April 18, 2006 08:48 PM

Exactly Jaquandor, I feel horrible for terry. He's clearly the best player and the only way he's safe is if he wins ever immunity.

Looking at Ace's hair gives me a headache. It's pulled tighter than John Kerry's face before a big speech.

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 08:48 PM

nope, that's not me. There's at least three Beths at the Rott, though.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:48 PM

Hey Beth...where's his hair?!

That's all.....

Posted by: Tammy at April 18, 2006 08:49 PM

EEEEEEKKKKKKKK!

SKIN CRAWLING!!!

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:49 PM

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! BUHBYE ACE! DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT YOU IN THE ASS!

Posted by: Todd at April 18, 2006 08:49 PM

Oh, God -- the awfulness that is Ace is reminding me of something from pop culture, but I can't remember what! Throw me a bone here, people -- what the hell does he look like?

This is actually one of his better vocals -- but I still don't like him much.

Posted by: Jaquandor at April 18, 2006 08:49 PM

Panty change seat 2, panty change seat 2

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 08:49 PM

Ace: Looks like a pimp trying to go classy.

Posted by: Chris at April 18, 2006 08:50 PM

Tammy, he sucks so much his hair is inside his empty fucking head!

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:50 PM

Ace actually looks presentable, and that wasn't an awful vocal. What's the world coming to?

Posted by: Ian S. at April 18, 2006 08:50 PM

OK, that does it. Simon is stoned off his ass.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:50 PM

Ian: Don't know what's going on. there has only been one really sucky performance tonight so far and only one person to go. Good water or something.

Posted by: Chris at April 18, 2006 08:51 PM

PLEASE GOD MAKE THE PRETEEN ACE FANS' PHONES GO DEAD.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:51 PM

A very lukewarm endorsement from Paula. Bad news for Acehole.

Posted by: Todd at April 18, 2006 08:51 PM

Randy and Paula encouraged him to sing in nothing but fals...I despise them.

Posted by: C. Rose at April 18, 2006 08:51 PM

I do too C Rose.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:53 PM

Could we be so lucky as to be losing Pickler this week? Probably not, but I can dream.

Posted by: Ian S. at April 18, 2006 08:53 PM

3 Beths at the Rott. Wow. Whoever Beth*A is owes me a box of tissues from that article.

Posted by: Chris at April 18, 2006 08:54 PM

I think Pickler and Ace are in trouble which suits me just fine

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 08:54 PM

I'm thinking this is Elliott's last week, and another week of Acehole.

Or maybe Katherine will blow it. I'd be happy seeing her go.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:55 PM

Ian: Pickler is definitely the worst tonight. Although Kat's warm up needs work

Posted by: Chris at April 18, 2006 08:55 PM

Lord, I apologize for typing in all caps and using multiple exclamation points, and for the starvin' pygmees down there in New Guinea.

Posted by: Todd at April 18, 2006 08:55 PM

What a night.

Ian, I'd like to request Paris, Chris, Elliot, Taylor, and I'm going to assume Kat since this is her genre. But I can't ask for that many in good conscience, so I'll take whatever you have. :o)

Posted by: Tanya at April 18, 2006 08:55 PM

Beth, who's Beth A? Is she one of the Empresses of Beths at the Cotillion?

Posted by: Tammy at April 18, 2006 08:56 PM

Pickler has yet to be in the bottom 3, right?

Posted by: Samit at April 18, 2006 08:56 PM

Wasn't this performed in Mr. Holland's Opus by that girl in her high school recital? That girl, she was better.

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 08:57 PM

Nope, she's yet another Beth! We Rule the Internets!

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:57 PM

Another potential Disney Princess. *yawn*

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:58 PM

BIG VOCALIST IS WATCHING YOU! BOW BEFORE BIG VOCALIST!

OK, the "turn to the camera" thing was OK once, but twice is annoying. I gotta admit, I love Katherine's voice. Also one of my favorite songs, although she's smiling too much while singing it.

This was a pretty good show tonight.

Posted by: Jaquandor at April 18, 2006 08:58 PM

Samit, I don't think she has...but I think this is her week.

Posted by: Tammy at April 18, 2006 08:58 PM

HA! Chad!

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 08:58 PM

OK, I think Elliott is gone. Not that he deserves it, but because 13 year-olds have phones.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 09:00 PM

Tammy Beth*A is a Beth at the Rott that posted this article:

http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/news/article/0,1299,DRMN_3_4224682,00.html

Have a box of tissues for it if you can finish it.

Posted by: Chris at April 18, 2006 09:00 PM

Tanya: I don't think I'm going to be able to do any this week. I'll definitely lock this on the TiVo so it'll be around when I do have time though.

Posted by: Ian S. at April 18, 2006 09:00 PM

Fuck you Ace!

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 09:01 PM

Oh god..I despise that fucking falseto.

Posted by: C. Rose at April 18, 2006 09:01 PM

Yeah, she was smiling way too often...but damn, that performance was absolutely fantastic. Simon may have been exaggerating a bit when he said Katharine made the others look like "good amateurs," but yeah...McPhee made everybody swoon tonight.

Posted by: Samit at April 18, 2006 09:01 PM

So here are my predictions. Ace, Kelly, Elliott in the bottom three. Elliott goes.

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 09:02 PM

Not me, Samit. She has never failed to make me yawn.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 09:02 PM

Ditto that, Chad.

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 09:03 PM

Let me try that link again:

http://www.rockymountainnews.com/
drmn/news/article/
0,1299,DRMN_3_4224682,00.html

Sorry, it was truncated in the last post.

Posted by: Chris at April 18, 2006 09:03 PM

That was so uncool of them to show a clip of Paris screwing up the words.

Posted by: Tanya at April 18, 2006 09:03 PM

All right, see y'all tomorrow night!

ACEHOLE MUST GO!

Posted by: Beth at April 18, 2006 09:04 PM

Good night all

Posted by: Chad at April 18, 2006 09:05 PM

Ok, back to Idol. I apologize for the off topic.

Top 3:

1. Chris
2. Taylor
3. Katherine

Bottom 3:

1. Pick Pickler
2. Paris
3. Ace

Going Home: Ace.

Sorry, but Pick Pickler's fan club will keep her afloat another week.

Have a good night everyone!

Posted by: Chris at April 18, 2006 09:06 PM

That's cool, Ian. Thanks so much for all the ones you've done so far, too. :o)

Posted by: Tanya at April 18, 2006 09:07 PM

Thanks for the link, Chris...have a good night, everyone.

Posted by: Tammy at April 18, 2006 09:11 PM

Good night all.

(Oh, and that Rocky Mountain News article is amazing. Thanks for that.)

Posted by: Jaquandor at April 18, 2006 09:22 PM

Wow, this really bites. I've moved into Mountain Time and the show comes on an hour later here.

I can't play along with you anymore!

I'm, crushed.

Bottom Three.

Kellie. Ace. Elliot.

Based on tonight's performance, Kellie ought to go.

Posted by: Timmer at April 18, 2006 10:08 PM

And now Chris owes me a box of tissues.

Posted by: Tanya at April 19, 2006 10:05 AM

If it wasn't for the 13 year olds, Ace would have been gone a long time ago. Eliot is a much better singer but I think tonight will be his last night and it isn't right. It will be Eliot, Pickler, and Ace in the bottom three and they'll make you think it is going to be Ace but Eliot will be the one. I can't stand Ace and whoever made the 'pimp' comment earlier about him on here--that was priceless!!!

Posted by: Jeff at April 19, 2006 12:19 PM

By the way, I think it will come down to Chris and Katharine. If you haven't done so, check out Chris' bands website; www.absentelement.com.

Posted by: Jeff at April 19, 2006 12:22 PM

TIMMER! I wondered where you went to!

Sorry you can't see it live with us. But we'll keep you going! Just think, you can look at this and then not have to watch if you see it's going to be lame!

Posted by: Chris at April 19, 2006 07:45 PM

Tanya, here's a virtual box. Sorry I posted page 9 and not page 1. Hopefully everyone realized that and re-started at 1.

Posted by: Chris at April 19, 2006 07:47 PM
