At Last, The Final

By Michele

This is it. My last post here on Idol Tongues.

I'd like to take a moment to thank all of you who hang around with us every Tuesday and Wednesday night. You've made this season a whole lot of fun. Thanks also to my fellow AI bloggers - it was nice to share this season with friends rather than hiding my obsession with the show as I've done in the past. Ok, enough with the sap. Let's get it on.

It's a two hour show tonight and I am waaaay overtired as it is. I may be just a little cranky. Which is no different than other weeks, anyhow.

Four minutes til showtime.

----

Oh. My. God. Kill me. Group songs are bad enough, but these costumes, and seeing Scott again, and the pure cheesiness of it..is this what I have to look forward to for TWO FREAKING HOURS? Whoa, could Nadia's cleavage be any more...apparent?

Babyface and Rascal Flats. Yippiekayaymotherfucker. Yea.

ACK. Mikalah. Someone run a razor blade through my ears, please.

And here comes the retrospective.

Make yourself comfortable. We're gonna be here a while.

Should I make a margarita or just have coffee?

Again with this song? I want some Whippin Post!

Camera phones don't work well in the dark. But here's my margarita:

marga.jpg

90 more minutes. Sheeesh.

OH MY GOD IT'S MATTTTTTT! MATTT!!!!!111!1!11!!

Ack. Sorry. I loved him last year. This makes the next 90 minutes of boredom worth it. I got to see MATT!!

Holy shit she looks awful. The poodle perm, the dress down clothes....and her comes the song pouring out the nose again.

Oh, a retrospective of Paula's best crack trips.

WTFOMFGBBQ!1!1!!1 KENNY G IS IN THE HOUSEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

What the hell? Is LaToya dressed for New Year's Eve? Halloween in the Village?

I don't know what the hell Simon is on tonight, but I'm loving it. I like him when he's being creepy.

WoOoOOoOt, more Matt Rogers!

---

Oh I remember this poor girl. How could you forget that? Oh nice. THey brought her back to humiliate her live. How nice.

Err...what's with the closing theme? I know I'm not THAT drunk that I missed the last hour.

Awwwww a duet!! They look so CUUUUTE together.

Can we get on with the show now?

CARS? They get cars?? I don't think they've done this before.

(Thinks of a couple of "take Bo for a test drive" jokes)

Hah. Gene Simmons was the shit.

LEROY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's the guy who did ODB. He cracked my shit up, even if he turned out to be a crackhead convict.

Ah, it's my favorite couple. I bet they go to Star Trek conventions together now. Or maybe they became Furries together.

HASSELOFF IN THE HIZZZOUSE!!

LMAO that's awesome.

200105b.gif

Blame Timmer for that gif.

Oh jesusonapogostick it's a parody. HELP ME OBI WAN, YOU'RE OUR ONLY HOPE! Someone get me a freaking escape pod NOW.

blame robyn for that one.

Oh man, the baby jesus isn't just crying, he's sobbing. I am SOOO glad I decided to drink tonight.

Oh joyofjoys a medley.

Carrie is singing with Rascal Flatts. He looks like what would happened if the dude from Flock of Seagulls turned into a puffer fish. She actually sounds better than she did at any time during the competition.

Anthony and Anwar with Kenny G. Novacaine is more exciting.

Hmm they sound pretty good together.

Kenny Wayne Shephard, Nadia, Jessica and Constantine doing Aerosmith. This is just killing me. If this were the Gong Show, they'd be hooked off the stage already.

And ANOTHER look at Scott. WOOOOOOO (kill me). He's still throwing down gangsta signs.

My girl Vonzie! She should have won.

[sticks pencil in ear for Mikalah, who is all ho'd out tonight.]

Bo with Skynyrd!!!! This has GOT to be one of the greatest moments of his life. Oh, he is just awesome here.

Here we go, FINALLY!! Hurrrry I have to peeeee.

Ahhhh. Carrie. I just don't think she deserved it. But I'll be nice. This is for her:

FIREWORKS_4.gif

Oh lord this gackfest of a song is going to be her single. Now you can hear the retarded words "I want to be inside your heaven" 24 hours a day!

I swear, when she won I did the Darth Vader NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Good-bye everyone. See you next year!

Dennis Wilson is going into convulsions.

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 08:02 PM

How much does Mikalah look like Paula? Creepy.

Posted by: Tanya at May 25, 2005 08:03 PM

I would rather go through my c-section next month sans epidural than to have to sit through the AI '05 Pop Tart Concert Tour... Ouch. My ears.

Posted by: robyn at May 25, 2005 08:03 PM

Constantine's jacket...isn't that something from Jack Wilde's HR Puffenstuff collection?

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 08:04 PM

Who the hell is that replacing Mario? I don't recognize him.

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 08:04 PM

OH MY GOD!! His Hair!!

Posted by: Tanya at May 25, 2005 08:04 PM

Mikalah looks slutastic!

Posted by: Hal at May 25, 2005 08:04 PM

Dude, he cut off the dreads!! My heart.

Posted by: Tanya at May 25, 2005 08:05 PM

Holy shit. I didn't recognize him without the dreads...

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 08:06 PM

EW! I could have done without seeing the Constantine sneer.

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 08:07 PM

Just when you thought no one was more annoying than Joan rivers...

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 08:07 PM

They can't do this recap stuff for two hours, can they? Whimper...

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 08:11 PM

Anyone wanna come up with an AI drinking game?

Tonight would deserve it.

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 08:11 PM

I love the Lime in the Coke ya Nut commercial..

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 08:12 PM

Hey, I have margaritas. Let's do that. :o)

You have to keep blogging tho...

Posted by: Tanya at May 25, 2005 08:12 PM

Mmmm...I need more tequila.

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 08:13 PM

I had to go download that commercial for the daughter.

Going to make margaritas.

Posted by: michele at May 25, 2005 08:14 PM

This is becoming his theme song.

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 08:18 PM

And he always thanks the band...

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 08:19 PM

I just wanna know that we're gonna hear him with Skynyrd.

That would kick ass.

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 08:19 PM

He's singing "Sweet Home Alabama" with Skynyrd--they said so on the red carpet (E! did a special from 7 to 8 where they interviewed people on the red carpet for the finale).

Posted by: Amanda at May 25, 2005 08:20 PM

Tim, he thanks the band cause he has class.

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 08:20 PM

O O O O O O O!

Yay!

I wasn't around till about 25 mins ago, so I missed the E special.

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 08:22 PM

I like Mikala and her voice. *Gets ready for the torches and pitchforks*

Posted by: PurpleRose1414 at May 25, 2005 08:23 PM

I woulda killed Carrie to dress up?

Posted by: Sekimori at May 25, 2005 08:23 PM

The Beach Boys medley was cheesy, but it was good to see Jessica, Nadia and The Vonz again.

Constantine's old band-mates must be laughing their hip, edgy heads off. Or not since Connie's on the #1 show on TV and they're probably still rehearsing in that teeny little room.

If Anwar cut off his dreads no wonder I didn't see him in the group. Dang, Anwar, why'd you do it?

Mikalah's red carpet thing was pretty funny. She's good at that kinda thing.

I'm not sure you can call that a "cleavage" on Nadia exactly.

Posted by: denise at May 25, 2005 08:27 PM

Rose, I think we're all so far past the screechy wannabe that we just laugh at a comment like that.

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 08:27 PM

I *think* she's singing this better than last night. But im just not sure.

Posted by: PurpleRose1414 at May 25, 2005 08:27 PM

So I gues Carrie won. She's doing the original song, while Bo did the cover. This sucks.

Posted by: Hal at May 25, 2005 08:27 PM

God, I've never seen a young lady so desperately in need of a good eating out in my entire life. How else do explain the bounce?

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 08:27 PM

The thing I like about her singing this, is that she's singing it to us. (I can't believe I just said something that sappy...)

Posted by: Tanya at May 25, 2005 08:28 PM

The shocking truth about simon Cowell. Im getting horrible images here.

Posted by: PurpleRose1414 at May 25, 2005 08:29 PM

Willie Nelson is playing Uncle Jesse? I wasn't going to see it, but I'd go just for that. :o)

Posted by: Tanya at May 25, 2005 08:29 PM

God, I've never seen a young lady so desperately in need of a good eating out in my entire life.

Did that gross anyone else right the fuck out? Jesus.

Posted by: Sekimori at May 25, 2005 08:30 PM

Yeah it did..On a side note I actually think Ryan does own what LaToya was wearing. Anyone else?

Posted by: PurpleRose1414 at May 25, 2005 08:31 PM

Crap. Now I need a better glass.

Posted by: Tanya at May 25, 2005 08:31 PM

Why the same songs as last night? This show's already boring enough as it is. Sheesh... The original songs still aren't any good no matter how many times they sing them.

Posted by: denise at May 25, 2005 08:31 PM

I don't think he meant what it sounded like he meant.

Tanya, I'm going to see it just for Jessica's bodacious tatas.

Posted by: michele at May 25, 2005 08:31 PM

And yes, Seki. Very.

Posted by: Tanya at May 25, 2005 08:32 PM

Sorry...thought I'd gone too far...it was funny to me in a Robin Williams "Good Morning Viet Nam" sort of way.

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 08:32 PM

I think it's just naturally funnier when turned around the other way, Timmer. Kinda intrusive this way...or perhaps I'm just grumpy.

Posted by: Sekimori at May 25, 2005 08:33 PM

Ok then. So he did mean it that way.

/cockpunches Timmer

Posted by: michele at May 25, 2005 08:33 PM

Could Randy be any more scripted?

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 08:33 PM

Ahhhhhhhhhh!

MY EYES!

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 08:34 PM

Yeah it is a bit pathetic. I hope Paula and Simon can act better..oh just glanced at the TV..nevermind.

Posted by: PurpleRose at May 25, 2005 08:34 PM

Excuse me, after this morning's birthday special I thought the gloves were off...my bad.

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 08:35 PM

Help! Hide me!

I'm scared of my television...

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 08:36 PM

It's all good, Timmer. I just punched you and I feel all better now. :-)

Posted by: michele at May 25, 2005 08:36 PM

I think Paula's on a crack trip right now.

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 08:37 PM

Paula's *always* on a crack trip.

Posted by: Ian S. at May 25, 2005 08:38 PM

Im never really able to see anything to suggest Paula is on something.Other than fawning over Scott that is.

Posted by: PurpleRose at May 25, 2005 08:38 PM

God...the things I do to get a little attention...it's so sad really.

;)

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 08:38 PM

What, mood swings and drooling aren't enough of an indication of addiction?

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 08:39 PM

I would think having to deal with Simon and Randy you would bound to have mood swings at some point. But she drooled? When was this?

Posted by: PurpleRose at May 25, 2005 08:41 PM

Denise, Carrie didn't sing the original song--she sang "Angels Brought Me Here," which was previously recorded by Australian Idol Guy Sebastian. He sang it on the finale last year.
God, I'm an AI FREAK!

Posted by: Amanda at May 25, 2005 08:41 PM

Gawd, I lost the thread and thought you meant Jessica Sierra's tatas. [shudder]

Posted by: Tanya at May 25, 2005 08:41 PM

Geez, what's Simon on?

He's probably really thinking: "One more hour of this crap and then it's Cabo for the next month!"

Posted by: denise at May 25, 2005 08:42 PM

Simon's on drugs this week.

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 08:43 PM

Did simon just say latoya was drunk??

Posted by: PurpleRose at May 25, 2005 08:44 PM

Thanks, Amanda. I knew it was familiar somehow. Maybe *I'm* on drugs.

Matt's cool. More Matt! Less Simon!

Posted by: denise at May 25, 2005 08:46 PM

I hate this..the people didnt make it leave them alone.

Posted by: PurpleRose at May 25, 2005 08:47 PM

Michele, I agree. I love Creepy Simon (tm). It's just so much fun.

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 08:49 PM

I really hate this..its so mean. Ouch..it hurts..SO BAD.

Posted by: PurpleRose at May 25, 2005 08:54 PM

William Hung, eat your heart out.

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 08:55 PM

ok..SO didnt see that coming.

Posted by: PurpleRose at May 25, 2005 08:55 PM

Hey, she got her standing O, she's lovin' it.

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 08:55 PM

Ok, the Leandra wasn't so bad once that brought her out for real instead of just poking fun at her.

Posted by: denise at May 25, 2005 08:56 PM

Who decides what gets on the show? I mean was that good TV?

Posted by: Newt at May 25, 2005 08:56 PM

Okay, pretend you like each other 'k? It's a love song.

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 08:57 PM

I can't believe they dragged this out for 2 hours. Holy geez. Maybe if Bo got to sing/play with Skynyrd it would be worth it, but hearing sappy pop song after sappy pop song is wearing thin (for me, Amanda is still loving it).

Posted by: Pauly at May 25, 2005 08:57 PM

I must must must have an MP3 of "Love Lift Us Up". Anyone? Anyone? Pleeeeeeeease!

Posted by: robyn at May 25, 2005 08:58 PM

Is Bo wearing leather? Hot!

Posted by: denise at May 25, 2005 08:58 PM

I. Want. That. Car.

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 09:00 PM

Ok, everybody off the stage except Bo and his leather pants!

Posted by: denise at May 25, 2005 09:00 PM

Was that the Mustang or the T-Bird...couldn't tell?

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 09:00 PM

robyn: I'll rip one after the show.

Posted by: Ian S. at May 25, 2005 09:00 PM

I love you Ian S. -- thank you!!!!

Posted by: robyn at May 25, 2005 09:01 PM

I dont care what anyone else says. She can belt out independance day.

Posted by: PurpleRose at May 25, 2005 09:01 PM

Ok, I want Bo, in that car.

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 09:02 PM

"(Thinks of a couple of "take Bo for a test drive" jokes)"

I hope you know how to drive stick, Michele.

Posted by: Pauly at May 25, 2005 09:02 PM

I already have a car. What I don't have is Bo and his leather pants. Ok, I'll shut up...

Posted by: denise at May 25, 2005 09:02 PM

You want Bo's leather pants?

I want Bo OUT of his leather pants *snicker*

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 09:03 PM

"I hope you know how to drive stick, Michele."

That I do.

Posted by: michele at May 25, 2005 09:03 PM

Simon looks upset

Posted by: Newt at May 25, 2005 09:04 PM

Ohhhhhhhhhh surrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre, I make one Carrie joke, I'm a scumbag. I see how ya are.

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 09:05 PM

Paul seems to have forgotten that I, too, know how to drive stick...and we agreed last week that Bo was my "freebie."

Posted by: Amanda at May 25, 2005 09:06 PM

Oh yeah? Well I can drive vagina. Wait, what?

Posted by: Pauly at May 25, 2005 09:08 PM

Hah. I just made the connection between Amanda and Pauly.

Posted by: michele at May 25, 2005 09:08 PM

The psychic was just scarey.

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 09:11 PM

They're determined to put us through hell before finally telling us the decision, aren't they.

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 09:11 PM

Who wants to bet Mary Roach is #1?

Posted by: PurpleRose at May 25, 2005 09:11 PM

Oopsie..guess im wrong. lol like thats something new. ^_^

Posted by: PurpleRose at May 25, 2005 09:12 PM

Leroy was da bomb!

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 09:13 PM

I bet they go to Star Wars together.

...ducks...

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 09:14 PM

Dude. Suck the snotty end of my farkstick.

Posted by: michele at May 25, 2005 09:14 PM

45 more minutes..god help us all.

Posted by: PurpleRose at May 25, 2005 09:15 PM

You gotta love the Stupd Little Dreamers.

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 09:16 PM

DON'T SING! FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY PLEASE DON'T SING!

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 09:16 PM

Making a dorks wish come true..its like Make a Wish but more sad.

Posted by: PurpleRose at May 25, 2005 09:16 PM

Makes me wish I'd worked about 1/2 hour more. Get these losers off the screen

Posted by: Faith at May 25, 2005 09:16 PM

Hasselhoff is cool. He has such a great sense of his own cheesiness.

Posted by: Slublog at May 25, 2005 09:17 PM

Michele, I sooooo didn't need to see that.

I think I have a headache.

Where the hell do you find these gifs?

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 09:19 PM

Oh come ON! Star Trek, Star Wars...there's no differnce. Geek is geek. I'm there too.

Jeez you're cranky tonight.

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 09:19 PM

I wonder what Simons dark secret is.

Posted by: PurpleRose at May 25, 2005 09:19 PM

I think that was pretty damn funny. At least they can make some of the losers' dreams come true, even if it means bringing David Hasselhoff to the show

Posted by: James at May 25, 2005 09:20 PM

Okay, I'm sorry, stop the Hasslehoff, I'm sorry, GOD I'M SORRY!!!

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 09:20 PM

Tim, I feel like I should be sauntering up to you and whispering in your ear to shut up for your own protection.

*giggle*

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 09:20 PM

That gif is frightening.

Posted by: Ian S. at May 25, 2005 09:21 PM

Faith!!

Posted by: Tanya at May 25, 2005 09:21 PM

What..the..fuck is this??

Posted by: PurpleRose at May 25, 2005 09:22 PM

Tanya!!!!

Posted by: Faith at May 25, 2005 09:23 PM

Rose, I have no idea.

But I'm disturbed.

Again.

This show turned ME into an alcoholic.

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 09:23 PM

This is just way f'd up..

Posted by: PurpleRose at May 25, 2005 09:24 PM

I'm going to need another beer.

Posted by: Slublog at May 25, 2005 09:24 PM

More martinis all around?

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 09:25 PM

This is supremely stupid.

Posted by: Faith at May 25, 2005 09:25 PM

LOL at Constantine with the fake 'stache.

Posted by: Ian S. at May 25, 2005 09:25 PM

Okayyyyyyyy, they're completely dawgin' out the guy who went after Paula.

This is funny in a bizarre sort of way...you all are drinking...is it drunk funny?

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 09:26 PM

Do you have a scotch kat?

Posted by: PurpleRose at May 25, 2005 09:26 PM

Ha! Constantine! What a hoot! I like this sketch...making fun of themselves. And that creepy guy from season 2.

Posted by: denise at May 25, 2005 09:27 PM

OK, Willie was funny.

Posted by: Faith at May 25, 2005 09:27 PM

Ran out last week Rose. Sorry.

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 09:27 PM

Wow...the sponsors must be so happy they spent their money on THAT.

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 09:27 PM

William Hung! He's my favorite

Posted by: James at May 25, 2005 09:28 PM

MICHELE!!!!!!!!!

I think you just triggered a panic attack in me.

Oh fuck.

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 09:28 PM

Dude that was frickin' awesome! Timmer, did you watch the Primetime Live special? You have to have seen the special to appreciate that sketch...

Posted by: Amanda at May 25, 2005 09:29 PM

Bah..I think im the only one facing this sober.

Posted by: PurpleRose at May 25, 2005 09:29 PM

I didn't see it, did it match the special that well?

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 09:31 PM

Geez, aren't there enough kids who can actually act in this world? Couldn't they get one of them to do these anti-smoking commercials?

Posted by: Amanda at May 25, 2005 09:32 PM

I don't drink PurpleRose...I'm with ya.

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 09:32 PM

Nah, it takes too much alcohol for me to get drunk. I'm merely intoxicated.

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 09:32 PM

Timmer, it matched the special perfectly

Posted by: Amanda at May 25, 2005 09:33 PM

Dawg! This is torture! I should have taped this and watched Lost.

Rascal Flatts, finally.

Posted by: denise at May 25, 2005 09:33 PM

I dont think she's nasal..maybe im just not hearing it well.

Posted by: PurpleRose at May 25, 2005 09:34 PM

Well, now we know why she sings through her nose...she thinks it's okay.

But this works...I'm liking this...

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 09:34 PM

She's country. Semi-nasal, but for people who either don't listen to or don't like country, it sounds extremely nasal.

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 09:35 PM

Anthony, Anwar and Kenny G.

For some reason, that just fits.

Posted by: Slublog at May 25, 2005 09:35 PM

Yes, Slu, they're all gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Posted by: Faith at May 25, 2005 09:36 PM

I could do without having to listen to or look at Kenny G.

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 09:36 PM

Anthony and Kenny G....I feel myself getting whiter as I watch....oh, here comes Anwar, thank goodness

Posted by: Amanda at May 25, 2005 09:36 PM

Im really liking this..I cant wait to see who Mikala's idol is ;)

Posted by: PurpleRose at May 25, 2005 09:36 PM

Wow. I am so happy Mr. Sam Adams is helping me through this episode. Just get to the dang announcement already.

Posted by: Slublog at May 25, 2005 09:36 PM

There should be a rule that you cannot sing songs made popular by men who have sex with 12 year old girls and video tape it. RKelly tainted this song for me.

Posted by: jennifer at May 25, 2005 09:37 PM

I don't think Fran Dresher sings....

Posted by: Faith at May 25, 2005 09:37 PM

The really scary thing is that Anwar, in many ways, reminds me of an ex-boyfriend. One who had too much ego for his own good, especially when it came to white women.

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 09:37 PM

I deeply hate this song, but at least Anthony and Anwar are singing it. Anwar's got some mad dreads! Yeah!

Posted by: denise at May 25, 2005 09:37 PM

Finally Nadia!

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 09:38 PM

If nothing else, this episode reminds me exactly how in love with himself Constantine really is.

Posted by: Slublog at May 25, 2005 09:38 PM

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH, don't they have full-length mirrors in their dressing rooms? Who the hell let Jessica out on stage wearing that??

Jessica needs that bare middrift about like I do, I'll preface that by saying I have had 4 children by c-section.

argh. she will hate this when she sees it on playback. btw they suck.

Posted by: Jennifer at May 25, 2005 09:38 PM

Jabba the Sierra. Who gave her permission to wear that shirt?

Posted by: Pauly at May 25, 2005 09:39 PM

See, I like Jessica and Nadia. Constantine just should stick to the crooner stuff. This doesn't work.

It's one of those songs only one person should sing, and that person is the original artist.

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 09:39 PM

Who is this guitarist and why am I supposed to be impressed?

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 09:39 PM

No Faith but Mikala is the closest we'll get. I think im the only person who likes her lol

Posted by: PurpleRose at May 25, 2005 09:39 PM

Oh crap, we have to see the woman beater again.

Posted by: Faith at May 25, 2005 09:39 PM

Geez, Paul and I have only been married a year, and we think the same thoughts...

Posted by: Amanda at May 25, 2005 09:40 PM

Kenny Wayne Shepard????? He's a fricking blues guy who started rocking out when he was 14 or so, he's awesome. You might have heard his hit, "blue on black"

Posted by: Pauly at May 25, 2005 09:40 PM

George Benson agreed to this? He's so off my iPod.

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 09:40 PM

Purple, I was thinking that was her Idol! ;)

OK, can we put Scoot on Atkins?

Posted by: Faith at May 25, 2005 09:40 PM

I like Kenny Wayne. I didn't like this performance, though.

Posted by: michele at May 25, 2005 09:41 PM

OK, Baby V -- so classy.

Posted by: Faith at May 25, 2005 09:42 PM

Billy Preston is the man. Vonzell should have been in the final. She is amazing.

Posted by: Jennifer at May 25, 2005 09:42 PM

I'd like an mp3 of this please. Please?

Posted by: Tanya at May 25, 2005 09:42 PM

Ack sorry Faith. That went over my head completly..Oh my god Vonzell's voice is pure heaven.

Posted by: PurpleRose at May 25, 2005 09:42 PM

Blah blah blah blah blah.

Get on with it already.

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 09:42 PM

Oh...is that what he looks like? I thought he was black...seriously.

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 09:42 PM

Ian? Ian?

Posted by: Faith at May 25, 2005 09:42 PM

Yes?

Posted by: Ian S. at May 25, 2005 09:43 PM

And, BTW, a FANTASTIC performance by Vonzelle. She should so be in Carrie's place.

Posted by: Ian S. at May 25, 2005 09:43 PM

Oh jeez, Mikalah's feeling him up on national TV

Posted by: Faith at May 25, 2005 09:44 PM

I really dont find Mikala's voice annoying at all..wonder why? *watches The Nanny every weekday*

Posted by: PurpleRose at May 25, 2005 09:44 PM

Ian, see Tanya's comment, supra.

Posted by: Faith at May 25, 2005 09:44 PM

I hate Babyface. Always have. Never understood his appeal.

Pairing him with Mikalah doesn't give him any points. They belong as a duet pair.

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 09:45 PM

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 09:46 PM

Oh fuck. This is FUCKING AMAZING

Posted by: Faith at May 25, 2005 09:46 PM

WHOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!

Have I mentioned how much I love Bo? And Skynyrd?

He belongs up there.

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 09:46 PM

Awesome. You can't air that and then have Bo be the loser.

Posted by: Ian S. at May 25, 2005 09:48 PM

Oh man. That was amazing.

Bo...is Bo. There are no words for how good that was.

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 09:48 PM

Amazing, simply amazing. I'm bettin' he records with Skynard. He played with them when he was back home too.

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 09:48 PM

Holy Sheot. I think Bo is going to win anyway, but Carrie is lucky as all hell that there was no voting after after that performance.

Even Simon looked stunned.

Posted by: Jay at May 25, 2005 09:49 PM

Ian, I so hope you're right. And that you're wired up tonite. ;)

Ladies, how many batteries are at stake tonite?!

Posted by: Faith at May 25, 2005 09:49 PM

Could Bo's smile have been any bigger? That was frickin' stellar

Posted by: Amanda at May 25, 2005 09:49 PM

I still hope Carrie wins *is murdered by the entire idoltongues board*

Posted by: PurpleRose at May 25, 2005 09:50 PM

Oh, I'm all set :-)

Posted by: Ian S. at May 25, 2005 09:50 PM

Ian sir. One bo with Skynard please.

Let me know what you're looking for...I might have it.

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 09:51 PM

The Vonz: wow!

Bo and LS: Amazing! Awesome!

Babyface looked a little uncomfortable.

Posted by: denise at May 25, 2005 09:53 PM

Denise, that's cause the Nanny was feeling him up.

Posted by: Faith at May 25, 2005 09:54 PM

Randy: My DAWGS!

Paula: blah blah blah

Randy: Yay, go America!

Good enough translation?

Posted by: Faith at May 25, 2005 09:56 PM

This had better mean that Bo goes on to become one of the biggest rock stars of all time.

Congrats, Carrie.

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 09:56 PM

WOO HOOOO lol Im happy.

Posted by: PurpleRose at May 25, 2005 09:56 PM

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 09:57 PM

I absolutely hate that Carrie won. Guess my streak of buying the winner of AI first album stops now.

Posted by: Solomon at May 25, 2005 09:57 PM

Posted by: Mary at May 25, 2005 09:58 PM

The producers just couldn't let a rocker win

Posted by: James at May 25, 2005 09:59 PM

*sob*

Bo will do fine. Clive Davis as much as told him so.

Posted by: Sekimori at May 25, 2005 10:00 PM

I am shocked. How can she sing the entire finale off-key and still win? Not to mention her stage presence...or lack thereof

Posted by: Jane at May 25, 2005 10:01 PM

Baby Mama 2, anyone?

Posted by: Pauly at May 25, 2005 10:01 PM

The whole American Idol is staged, your votes doesnt count

Posted by: istvan at May 25, 2005 10:02 PM

Well...the good news is, the stations I listen to in the car...I never heard of Kelly Clarkson until recently...and that's when she started singing like Avril.

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 10:04 PM

Exactly! She doesn't even come close to Bo in terms of talent or stage presence. I am now convinced it is staged also. Simon knew last night. What a waste of our time.

Posted by: Mary at May 25, 2005 10:05 PM

Cant wait to see what happens next year. First was the divas in the bottom three. Now Carrie beats Bo, I just wonder whats next year.

Posted by: PurpleRose at May 25, 2005 10:06 PM

Bah. AI's worth it just for these threads.

Posted by: Ian S. at May 25, 2005 10:06 PM

Fun it was...yes. Thank you I do.

Posted by: Timmer at May 25, 2005 10:07 PM

"Take me to the place you cry from" is the line that kills me. Don't you cry from your diaphragm?

Posted by: Tanya at May 25, 2005 10:08 PM

I really mean it this time, see you guys next year ^_^

Posted by: PurpleRose at May 25, 2005 10:08 PM

Meh. I wanted Bo to win, but oh well... Congrats, Carrie. I'm buying your album.

I liked her dress, but I hate that song and I'm sorry that has to be her first single.

I'm hoping this means that Bo has more freedom to do what he wants with his career. I'm buying his album, too. And Vonzie's.

Also, why do aging rockers look so much more scarier that normal aging people?

Posted by: denise at May 25, 2005 10:12 PM

Here's to hoping next year is as good as this one!

Posted by: kat at May 25, 2005 10:19 PM

This sucks. Bo was robbed. *hisses* But I think he's already signed and we'll have an album and tour from him soon enough. But he was still robbed. *cries*

Posted by: DonnaK at May 25, 2005 10:22 PM

No Tanya, she wants to live in your tear ducts. You'll be crying dumb blonde for years. ;)

Posted by: Faith at May 25, 2005 10:51 PM

Knew it the moment they had Carrie perform the 'new' song and Bo do the cover. It's really too bad for the show, because they finally had someone with a shred of originality in the finals. I think America is getting exactly what it deserves, another cookie-cutter blonde with an average voice and outstanding cleavage. Pathetic.

Posted by: Hal at May 25, 2005 10:54 PM

Ok, I tivo-ed the final 'cause I had to do some emergency surgery. Here's my take.

Before even watching this last show, I believed that Bo had probably lost. This show cultivates talent to appeal to 18-34 year old girls. Simon (the marketing guy on the panel) said 6 weeks ago she was "...the one that teenage girls wan to to be."
I obviously don;t agree with that, but that's their perception.
She's more moldable to the type of 'Tiger Beat', Limited-Too tie-ins that make them lots of $$$$.

The Tuesday show's original music was NOT meant for Bo Bice to sing. It was right in Carrie's wheelhouse. That was not an accident.

They had boi & video of Carrie since day 1.
Bo's emerged after 'Whipping Post'.

Lastly - Bo comes with baggage. And I don't mean the drug charges. He has existing relationships with other band members, artist reps, and booking agents. Knowing the kind of guy he is, he would insist on Shane & his boys in Sugar Money with him. Carrie is a single performer, with no prior representation.

I believe the vote was genuine, don't get me wrong.
I believe that the Idol results are the result of subtle, planned marketing by 19 Entertainment to 'encourage' the image
of Carrie as Idol.

So what of Bo? He's actually in better shape than she is!
He won't have all the locked in commitments that she will.
Guess what? Clive Davis can make a record with him too!
He runs BMG - he can do it.

And being number 2 didn't hurt Clay even one little bit.

As for me: I'm buying their 1st records regardless.

But I'll go pay to see Bo at his 1st gig after the Idol tour wraps in October. Rumor has it it'll be in Birmingham.

Finally - Michele, Timmer & everyone else posting here: thanks for your 2 cents. This blog has been more fun to read than the show was to watch. I can't wait to see you all here next year.

Read this from the AI site! They had her picked last week!

Britain's stars shine for Europe
By Jason Nisse
22 May 2005

Ten British-based business people have been named among the 25 Stars of Europe by American magazine BusinessWeek. However, only five of them are actually British, showing the international nature of the UK business community.

Among the more predictable names in the list are Sir Terry Leahy, chief executive of Tesco; BT boss Ben Verwaayen; and Nigel Newton, who signed JK Rowling for Bloomsbury Publishing. More surprising are Andrew Black and Ed Wray, the co-founders of Betfair.com; and Simon Fuller, the pop impresario whose American Idol TV competition was won this year by Carrie Underwood.

Did someone mention MATT ROGERS?!

Posted by: Y at May 26, 2005 01:23 AM

Edited to say: Sometimes when I get nervous, I stick my hands under my arms, and then I smell my fingers.

Posted by: lilAOLuser at May 26, 2005 02:18 AM

Good morning. After suffering the whole season of AI, I actually skipped the finale to go see Revenge of the Sith. Did someone say Jimmy Smits who?

Last night's "win" just goes to show that all America wants is another Britny Spears fluffy singer and not someone of substance.

Carrie is talented however, the only memorable performance she gave is Alone. Everything else was bland, off key, boring. Bo on the other hand has wowed me every time. Even his most dismal performances were very good compared to the others.

Bring back Matt Rogers. Now that's one cool bastard.

Posted by: jen at May 26, 2005 09:24 AM

Cap'n Chuckles: I couldn't agree with you more. Exactly my thoughts, except I'm not so sure the votes "do" all count, when it comes down to the winner, because of the disclaimer that AI producers have to make decisions about the outcome of it. Watching the final performances on Tuesday night, I got the impression that perhaps Bo was trying to "throw" the contest to Carrie (this was before I knew he had food poisoning). Maybe he knew she wanted it more than he did, or he didn't really want to be 19 Entertainment's b*tch for the next several years. At any rate, I think the outcome was molded and manipulated by the producers to produce the desired outcome. The comments from Simon and Randy last night about Carrie winning seemed "scripted", as Randy has always raved about Bo being "his dawg" and "Captain of the dog pound."
I don't really mind Carrie winning (I don't have anything against her at all); I just hate it when I suspect things are not "fair" or what they appear to be. I think Bo will have a tremendous career; this is just the start for him. I will definitely buy his new CD (and I plan to buy his old ones with Sugar Money as well).
All in all, it's been a pretty fantastic season. I'll miss reading the posts here every week, and posting comments; it's nice to know a group of people who are as intrigued with the show as I am.

Posted by: Janet at May 26, 2005 10:48 AM

my quick thoughts, not in any order:

nice production... the "interviews" that Matt and LaToya gave were just horrendous. but at least LaToya got some good drinking done.

poor Babyface. a successful producer, and he finds himself singing with Lindsey Cardinale and Mikalah Gordon. talk about a fall from grace. and Lindsey still hasn't gotten over her boob grabbing habit (whenever she sings, she feels herself up). and Mikalah... my gawd, i've said it before, and i'll say it again... she's the oldest looking 17 yr old i've ever seen. she looks like she's about 40. and not in a good way.

Walk this Way. we see that Jessica is still making poor wardrobe changes. when she was on her knees, i didn't know whether to laugh or puke.

David Hasselhoff? bwahahahahah that. was. awesome.

i still think that Bo and Constantine should do a cover of Nelson's "Love and Affection."

that is all. heh.

Posted by: mikey at May 26, 2005 11:50 AM

Just a thought...but what is wrong with Jessica Sierra and Constantine? They really need to learn that sometimes "less is more". Constantine is unbearable to watch with the posing and pouting...it's just gross and too much! He would be SOOO much more likable if he just acted "normal"! He's attractive and has a good voice, but he's ruining it!!! And Jessica Sierra needs to learn that wearing practically nothing when you DON'T HAVE THE FIGURE FOR IT it is NOT s*xy...it's just disgusting and sad...

Posted by: Janet at May 26, 2005 12:22 PM

But does she still have a really big head?

Posted by: jen at May 26, 2005 02:03 PM

HOTTIEZ

I loves me some HOTTIEZ.

Nothing in the world is better than a good helping of HOTTIEZ.

Answer to Jen's question: Yes, and no neck ("it's just a jump to the left..")

Posted by: Janet at May 26, 2005 03:49 PM

At least no neck had personality and major llabos. I'm still waiting for someone to confuse Carrie with the rag I dry my dishes with.

We, who wanted Bo to win had it right the whole time: This is the latest news and it looks like it will be sort of a Clay/Ruben deal.

"Though the long-haired rocker lost out to
Underwood on the show, his version of "In Your
Heaven" is currently outselling hers, though neither single has been shipped.

Bice's single is ranked number one on BarnesandNoble.com's sales charts, while Underwood's single trails at number four. Meanwhile, over at Amazon.com, Bice's single is holding down the number three slot, while Underwood's is way down at number 31. "

Posted by: jen at June 2, 2005 11:31 AM

Yes...I read the same thing. A single is not enough; I'm looking forward to an entire CD full of songs (that hopefully, doesn't include "Inside Your Heaven"...I'm SOOO sick of that song!)
