And Then There Were 2!

By Michele

That's right. We are down to the end. And many of us knew this is exactly how it would end up.

I'm looking for Bo to sweep the floor with Carrie tonight.

While you're waiting for the show to start, why not take our survey below?

Yadda Yadda, I won't miss sitting through Seacrest's retarded antics, that's for sure.

Ok Bo is singing already. It's a song that was written for him.

I just got a bad feeling about this. I don't know why. Hope it's not a premonition.

This song is doing nothing for me. Nothing against Bo, it's just a crappy song.

---

Carrie singing.

She still seems stiff to me. And it seems like she got a song much better suited for her voice. But wow, she sounds kind of pitchy to me. Very nasally, too.

I have to agree with Simon regardless. Carrie won round one, because Bo's song was teh suck.

--

Next up they do their favorite songs of the season.

For Bo, I liked that "great god in heaven you know I love you" song.

YES! I WIN! This is the song that won me over. I moved over to the Bo column when he sang this.

oh YES Carrie is DOOOOOOMEd. Wooot WOOOOOT! Flawless. Beautiful. HOT.
----
Carrie's gonna do that hoedown song, isn't she?

Oh, she's doing the Sean Hannity song. Blech.

I'm sorry. I find her ordinary, off key and she looks like she's riding an invisible horse. This is awful. AWFUL. I found it once again to be too nasally and pitchy and screechy.

Round 2: Bo.

Ick, now they have to do the icky songs from earlier?

I want to be inside your heaven. Kill me now. Not even Bo can make that sound anything but gacky.

This is not great. BECAUSE THESE SONGS SUCK! sucksucksuckbigfatdonkeyballs. They are ass cakes with ass frosting.

Much better than Carrie's take on it. How cute is he?

Now we have to listen to Carrie sing a song that not even Bo could make sound good.

Why is she so insistent on singing through her nose? No stage presence. Not bad, though. Better than her other two performances and a reminder of why she's in the finals.

Ok, she screeched the finale. And this song is just crappitycrapcrap. I would slit my wrists if I got stuck in an elevator and this song was playing.

And that's a wrap. I give my choice to Bo tonight.

Tomorrow is a two hour show. Show up here and endure it with me. I'll bring the champagne and chips.

This must be the Idol Song...yeeech!

Posted by: Timmer at May 24, 2005 08:05 PM

But damn...he even makes sucky songs sound good.

Posted by: Timmer at May 24, 2005 08:06 PM

Yup. Bo makes even lame songs listenable. Carrie doesn't stand a chance.

Posted by: Ian S. at May 24, 2005 08:07 PM

I think Carrie has to sing the same one?

Posted by: Timmer at May 24, 2005 08:07 PM

Did Randy just say the 'semifinals?'

I thought this was the final.

Moron.

Posted by: Slublog at May 24, 2005 08:08 PM

The point is, he just proved he can do straight up pop. If he has to.

Posted by: owen at May 24, 2005 08:10 PM

A commercial already? Cripes...

Posted by: Slublog at May 24, 2005 08:11 PM

The stereo on the roller skating diet Coke commercial is way out of synch.

Posted by: Timmer at May 24, 2005 08:12 PM

I thought he sang it fine. But the song itself was lame. I actually lost concentration and caught myself thinking about something else. Not good.

I hope Carrie has to do the same song. That'd be cool. (They did that last year, didn't they? And the winner was going to release it as their first single?)

Posted by: Tanya at May 24, 2005 08:13 PM

She's in her nose again...dammit. Don't they have a vocal coach yelling at them?

Posted by: Timmer at May 24, 2005 08:15 PM

What the HELL happened to her?

Posted by: Timmer at May 24, 2005 08:16 PM

Lots of pitch problems, and she looks like 10 years older. Not good.

Posted by: Ian S. at May 24, 2005 08:16 PM

Way, way in her nose.

Not her strongest performance.

Posted by: Slublog at May 24, 2005 08:16 PM

Ok, these original songs aren't doing it for me, but Bo and Carrie are giving it their all.

"I want to be inside your heaven." Who writes this stuff? Bleah.

Posted by: denise at May 24, 2005 08:16 PM

Started out OK but then went WAY out of tune

Posted by: owen at May 24, 2005 08:17 PM

Please God...let them replace Paula with Cher.

Posted by: Timmer at May 24, 2005 08:18 PM

Uh-oh, Simon's on the Carrie Bus again.

Posted by: Slublog at May 24, 2005 08:18 PM

Simon's on drugs tonight.

Posted by: Timmer at May 24, 2005 08:19 PM

Favorite song of the season? Any bets?

I'm thinkin' the acapella.

Posted by: Timmer at May 24, 2005 08:20 PM

"Whipping Post" Gotta be.

Posted by: Slublog at May 24, 2005 08:20 PM

"Take me to the place you cry from?!" *gag* Who writes this tripe?

I liked that song a little better, but she hit two really bad notes, both on the word "heaven." I usually agree with Simon, but at least Bo hit the notes.

Posted by: Tanya at May 24, 2005 08:21 PM

I'm wondering on the pitchy, out-of-tune stuff.....if it has anything to do with being in the Kodak theater tonight. I believe I heard that Beyonce had problems with her feedback at the Oscars there earlier this year -- and I also believe they had problems with the AI finalists in past-years being able to hear themselves (and their accompaniment) once they changed venues for the finals as well.

Posted by: robyn at May 24, 2005 08:21 PM

These original songs are horrible. I mean if you compare them to I Believe and A Moment like this their god awefull.

Posted by: PurpleRose1414 at May 24, 2005 08:21 PM

Christian Bale as Batman! Hot!

Posted by: denise at May 24, 2005 08:22 PM

Can't be the a capella--he did it twice last week. I agree with Slublog--gotta be "Whipping Post."

Posted by: Amanda at May 24, 2005 08:22 PM

"great God in heaven you know I love you" song?

You kill me Michele.

Posted by: Timmer at May 24, 2005 08:23 PM

Yep, just a quick Googling found this:

"...complaints that the acoustics in the Kodak Theater are so poor that some concert promoters have canceled events there, prompted the administrator of the 76-year-old Shrine Auditorium to predict last week that the academy would opt out of its 20-year lease at the Kodak and return to the Shrine..." -Nick Madigan, The New York Times

Posted by: robyn at May 24, 2005 08:24 PM

Vehicle...or the "great God in heaven" song.

Michele wins.

Posted by: Timmer at May 24, 2005 08:24 PM

Bad acoustics or not, that was flawless by Bo.

Posted by: Ian S. at May 24, 2005 08:25 PM

Hope Carrie sings Independance Day.

Posted by: PurpleRose1414 at May 24, 2005 08:26 PM

Great performance.

Posted by: Slublog at May 24, 2005 08:26 PM

What's that sound in the wings? Why...it's Kirstie Allie warming up...

Posted by: Timmer at May 24, 2005 08:27 PM

Carrie will probably sing that Dixie Chicks thing.

Posted by: denise at May 24, 2005 08:27 PM

Yay!! :o)

Posted by: Tanya at May 24, 2005 08:27 PM

After 1 song: they should have sung each other's song.

They both sucked.

Bo was better.

Posted by: Cap'n Chuckles at May 24, 2005 08:29 PM

I think purplerose is right. It's going to be Independence Day.

Of course, I was wrong before.

Posted by: Slublog at May 24, 2005 08:30 PM

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...we don't need no stinkin' TV show while it's going on dammit!

Posted by: Timmer at May 24, 2005 08:30 PM

Dammit. This is the only thing she's done this year that really 'moved' me.

Posted by: Tanya at May 24, 2005 08:31 PM

This was her best song all season, so she's smart to return to it.

Posted by: Ian S. at May 24, 2005 08:32 PM

I'm really disliking Carrie tonight. Nasal. Weak.

Okay...so she's at least supporting the chorus.

Posted by: Timmer at May 24, 2005 08:32 PM

Really good! Bo now has competition!

Posted by: denise at May 24, 2005 08:33 PM

...but she blew it through her nose again. She did it a lot better the first time.

Posted by: Ian S. at May 24, 2005 08:33 PM

This is the only song I think she does wonderfully.

Posted by: PurpleRose1414 at May 24, 2005 08:33 PM

Whoa. Harsh words from Simon.

I didn't think her version of 'Crying' was that good, though.

Posted by: Slublog at May 24, 2005 08:34 PM

She did it better last time, but I don't really trust my own bias here...

Posted by: Tanya at May 24, 2005 08:34 PM

Timmer's right: Simon's on drugs. Or it's the jacket.

Posted by: denise at May 24, 2005 08:34 PM

After 2 songs:

Bo was Bo. Game OVER.

Carrie was pitchy. Should have sung Heart.

Simon Was right.

Bo rocks.

Posted by: Cap'n Chuckles at May 24, 2005 08:34 PM

Do you guess get these same anti-drug commercials? Could they pick kids who look slightly more stoned, do you think?

Posted by: Tanya at May 24, 2005 08:36 PM

Sorry I'm a little behind (watching this on TiVo) but Bo Bice doing Vehicle makes me want to have sex. Preferrably with him, but I guess my husband will have to do.

Posted by: Sara at May 24, 2005 08:36 PM

Have lost all respect for Carrie when she said she didn't know what her song was about. 'Twas moronic.

Like country I don't. Eek! Independence Day.

Très, très sucky lyrics.

Posted by: Moi at May 24, 2005 08:37 PM

These finals always suck. It's the crap songs they make them sing. But Bo? Rocks. I almost hope he doesn't win, if only to preserve his career without the torture of hearing the AI spoon fed sap on the radio....

Posted by: Jennifer at May 24, 2005 08:39 PM

Oh..god no..why? Why do they want to torture us with these crappy songs? Bo rocks it but still..

Posted by: PurpleRose1414 at May 24, 2005 08:39 PM

Wow.

The difference is he's been inside someone's heaven and can tell us about it.

Posted by: Timmer at May 24, 2005 08:40 PM

This song is still stupid, but it's 10x better when Bo sings it.

Posted by: denise at May 24, 2005 08:41 PM

That is one terrible song.

Bo did okay with it, though.

Posted by: Slublog at May 24, 2005 08:41 PM

This song still sucks, but it works much better with Bo's voice. Great job again.

Posted by: Ian S. at May 24, 2005 08:41 PM

So Michele...tell us how you really feel...quit holding back.

Posted by: Timmer at May 24, 2005 08:41 PM

Dont tell me Carrie is going to sing Bo's first song.

Posted by: PurpleRose1414 at May 24, 2005 08:42 PM

I'm alarmed and disturbed that he made that smarmy, horrible song sexy.

Have I mentioned how much I love the sternum tattoo? I have, haven't I? Good.

Posted by: Tanya at May 24, 2005 08:42 PM

Simon may be a cantankerous old grouch, but he has class.

Posted by: Slublog at May 24, 2005 08:43 PM

True Slublog, very true.

Posted by: Timmer at May 24, 2005 08:45 PM

Those songs make me want to cut myself.

Posted by: Pauly at May 24, 2005 08:45 PM

The difference is he's been inside someone's heaven and can tell us about it.

Very well said.

Posted by: Tanya at May 24, 2005 08:46 PM

Crap! Now I've got that stupid song in my head. Just because Bo sang it! He's definitely a better singer if he can make me remember a crappy song like that.

Posted by: denise at May 24, 2005 08:46 PM

Tell me about it. Last year with I believe we had high notes and the chorus that just sent a shiver through me..these are just horrid.

Posted by: PurpleRose1414 at May 24, 2005 08:47 PM

House is cool.

Posted by: Slublog at May 24, 2005 08:47 PM

Fantasia should be singing this song.

Posted by: Timmer at May 24, 2005 08:49 PM

Lame intro by Ryan and Simon. Why does the final have to be so lame!?

Sing louder Carrie! Geez, I can't even hear the words. Bad acoustics or I'm going deaf.

Posted by: denise at May 24, 2005 08:49 PM

"My dreams came true/when I found you/my miracle"

Ugh ugh ugh ugh.

I want to hurt the songwriter as badly as he's hurt me.

Posted by: Slublog at May 24, 2005 08:49 PM

Ummmm, you mind finishing the song?

Posted by: Timmer at May 24, 2005 08:50 PM

"Angels brought me here." They must have been angels from the dark side!

These songs just reek.

Posted by: denise at May 24, 2005 08:51 PM

Carrie's best performance of the night, but IMO not Bo-quality.

Posted by: Ian S. at May 24, 2005 08:52 PM

Simon's just a frelling liar...and with a smile on his face.

Posted by: Timmer at May 24, 2005 08:52 PM

What did he say, I missed it.

Posted by: Slublog at May 24, 2005 08:53 PM

There's a lot of time left and the top 10 are in the audience...I smell a group song.

Posted by: Timmer at May 24, 2005 08:53 PM

Gee, Simon. Why don't you just tell everyone to vote for Carrie, then!

Bo's gotta win. He's cooler and there's that "heaven" thing.

Posted by: denise at May 24, 2005 08:53 PM

Simon said Carrie did enough to win tonight.

Posted by: Timmer at May 24, 2005 08:54 PM

Blah. She wasn't quite as good as Bo.

Posted by: Slublog at May 24, 2005 08:54 PM

Ugh, a retrospective.

I liked that Mike guy from New Orleans. I wish he'd made it to the top 12 at least.

Posted by: denise at May 24, 2005 08:56 PM

NOt a group song, a cheesy recap with Sir Paul singing the background.

Posted by: Timmer at May 24, 2005 08:57 PM

Doesn't really matter. Both of these two as well as Vonzell and Constatine will have contracts after this and with the fan base they've built up, all will be successful. Tomorrow is for bragging rights. Go Bo!

Posted by: Chris at May 24, 2005 08:59 PM

Song 3 - Bo

This is Vonzell's song. If she was in the finals, this would be the single she would have come out with, ala Clarkson. But the song sucks. It is not Diane Warrenesque.

The choice of this - anthem - for these two was unfair.
They aren't 'runny' singers. This is main problem with American Idol, for me. It's designed to promote miasmic, R&B vocalists.
That's why Clay lost to Reuben. That's why all 3 Idols are considered in the same genre. It 'aight' if that's what you like.

So Carrie sang it 1st and got a not so good from Simon & Randy.

Bo carried it off ok, even though it was not in his key! All 3 said props.

Carrie's original song suited her style better than Bo's did.
BOTH were r&b'ish anthems. No uptempo songs.
Carrie carried it off well, IMHO.

It's a crap shoot.

I'm voting Bo. I am biased, tho.
I'm sitting in Atlanta, I'm wearing an Allmans T,
and 'Sweet Home Alabama' is my phone ringtone.

What do y'all think?!?!?

Posted by: Cap'n Chuckles at May 24, 2005 09:04 PM

What time the show starts tomorrow?

Posted by: Mike at May 24, 2005 09:07 PM

I'm disappointed .. hated Bo's songs. Can't understand why they were chosen. Who chose them?? I have voted for Bo because I think he is usually outstanding and deserves to win. I taped this show but doubt that I will ever watch it again.

Posted by: Mary at May 24, 2005 09:16 PM

Tradesports says Carrie did well; her stock is rising and Bo's is falling. But Bo did start from the high 60s after dominating last week.

Those of you preparing to make a "dominating" joke please slap yourselves.

Posted by: Patrick at May 24, 2005 09:19 PM

Finally got to watch.

1. Carrie has no personality.
2. Bo winks too much, fast forward makes it worse.
3. Paula needs her own wing at Betty Ford.
4. Ian is da MAN, dawg!

Posted by: Faith at May 25, 2005 12:39 AM

[admin note: edited for clarity]

I am am asshole.

Posted by: Tupac at May 25, 2005 12:41 AM

...as opposed to what?

More Luther-soundin', Whitney-copyin', 'run&gunners'?

Luvly.

Yo dawg. Quit dissin' my crew, or I'm gonna haveta pop a nine in yo' a$$. ;-D

Just keepin' it rrrrrrrreal!

Can anyone imagine someone like Ludacri$$ or even (GASP)
Eminem in this competition? Now THAT would be choice.
I think ol' Clive would have a heart attack.

This show is about ENTERTAINMENT.
The red states either listen to country-pop (Like Martina, or Gretchen, or Shania) or country-rock (like Rascal Flatts, Kenny Chesney or Tim McGraw.) Blue states (or more accurately cities) go for Fantasia, Reuben (props go out to 205 - boyeeeee) or Whitney (aka Skeletor).

They waht to sell CDs to folks who buy them, not rrrrrrrrip them off from Bittorrent or Limewire, dawg.

And like your cred, I'm GONE.

(aight, aight, aight!)

Posted by: Cap'n Chuckles at May 25, 2005 01:55 AM

Carrie sucked wind. Whoever picked those awful songs should be drawn and quartered and then spit on. Bo had so many awesome performances throughout the season and Vehicle was just one of them.. He rocked out on Vehicle!

Independence Day.. Martina McBride just shot herself after hearing Carrie sing that through her nose

The other two songs were so schmaltzy and crappy and Kelly Clarkson like I could puke. But Bo did a great job anyway.

Bo should win but with Simon glorifying Carrie, she just might be the new AI. Can't wait for her first concert when she dies of stage fright.

And yes, House is the best!

Posted by: jen at May 25, 2005 09:34 AM

PS: Did you all see Scotty Sausage Fingers clapping and whooping it up for Bo?

Posted by: jen at May 25, 2005 09:35 AM

Although just about anyone, including the singer at the local hotel lounge, would be better than last year's winner, it is apparent that neither of these two is very good. In fact, Bo's rendition of "Vehicle" sounded a lot like that lounge singer. Karaoke, anyone?

Posted by: Matt at May 25, 2005 10:22 AM

I sound like Simon. Yes, I do! braaawwwk

Posted by: Sekimori at May 25, 2005 10:40 AM

Anyone here remember that originally Simon did not want Bo on the show? I can't help but think since then he's incredibly biased against Bo and we all know he's been pushing for Miss Fembot Model 78643 to be crowned AI 2005.

Posted by: jen at May 25, 2005 11:15 AM

Check this out, if you haven't heard already

Posted by: I at May 25, 2005 02:40 PM

This is very interesting. Sad, but I can't say I'm surprised. Either way, I'm just glad Bo got enough exposure out of the whole thing that he can have a career as a professional musician (at a national level).

Posted by: Janet at May 25, 2005 02:52 PM

Totally agree. I mean, I don't dislike Carrie. In fact, I think she has a great voice, but Bo has that star quality.

Posted by: I at May 25, 2005 02:59 PM

Simon has been shamelessly promoting Carrie to be the winner since she auditioned. He has rarely criticized her performaces which some were good but most rather dull and off key. She is rather forgettable as the only song I remember her singing is Alone. She is emotionless when she sings (Cryin) and has no stage presence whatsoever. Simon did not want Bo originally but has changed his mind. He knows Bo is the bigger talent but figures Carrie to be more marketable. It's all For the Love of Money. Bo doesn't need to win. He'll do fine without it. I can't say the same for the fembot.
