And Then There Were 7

By Michele

Coming up at 8pm EST...sharpen those criticism skills.

And here we go. Seacrest really needs to stop saying Scotty the Body. It creeps me out.

And the theme is.....

Oh god. It's 70's dance classics. Break out the disco ball.

Who's gonna do Funkytown??

Constantine, I'd like to introduce you to the concept of combing your hair.

I freaking hate his poses. I hate the way he looks into the camera. I hate the way he loves himself. I hate that he's doing a Bee Gees song. At least he's not doing it well. His damn Jersey accent really does not do justice to this song. Ugh. I depsise this man and his super sized ego. That blew.

Oh shut UP Paula. Just get on your freaking knees, suck his dick and get it overwith. Please.

Carrie doing Donna Summer. My god, I hate this song.

Sigh. This is doing nothing for me. I think it's the theme. I am not a disco fan. Not even those big, strong notes are doing anything for me tonight. Oh come ON Simon - the outfit means nothing here. Though she really should have come out in glittery spandex.

Scott doing Everlasting Love. Do I have to watch him? Oh great. And now I have to say that his voice doesn't sound horrible. It could certainly use some more ooomph. Certainly not his worst performance, she said grudingly. But not a winner. It was missing something. I take that back. The last half of the song BLEW.

Ohmygod, I HATE these judges. And just shut up and get off the stage you ugly, slimy, creepy bastard.

Federov does not do sexy well.

I think Bo should do YMCA.

Hey, Federov sounds good tonight!! He could be the next disco gay icon! Move over, Gloria Gaynor! Seriously, I enjoyed that.

I want a dollar for every time Randy says DUDE. ANd then I'll use the money to buy Constantine a shower.

Vonzell up. Doing that Oprah song. I LOVE this girl! I love her voice, I love the way she carries herself on stage. She's wonderful. That was HOT!

Anwar coming up. He's been a yawnfest for me lately.

Bad song choice. This will do nothing to show off his skills. Again, Anwar's face and voice say "please God, let this be overwith this week. Send me home." I ain't feelin' it dude. Aight?

And Bo with the last song of the night. Ohhhh good choice, Bo! Oh man. He's smokin. This is awesome. Bo. Fucking. Rocks.

I'm picking up the phone for Bo tonight.

was it silent for a moment?

70s dance music? What, are they afraid to say "disco"?

Posted by: Kathleen at April 19, 2005 08:03 PM

Is it just me, or did Seacrest just channel Jim J Bullock? And why is Constantine dancing? Why, God, why?

Posted by: Kathleen at April 19, 2005 08:04 PM

"As the whole world knows now, I was born in the 70s." Not too much ego there.

Posted by: Dakota at April 19, 2005 08:04 PM

He's wearing more eye makeup than I am. Just sayin'.

Posted by: Kathleen at April 19, 2005 08:05 PM

Michele, five bucks says the judges love it anyway.

Posted by: Kathleen at April 19, 2005 08:05 PM

Who is the blonde woman in the hat? His mother?

Posted by: Dakota at April 19, 2005 08:08 PM

After reading the comments, I'm glad I missed Constantine's performance.

Posted by: nastybastard at April 19, 2005 08:08 PM

Constantine was almost as karaoke as Federov usually is.

Posted by: Ian S. at April 19, 2005 08:11 PM

this episode is sub par so far

Posted by: tony at April 19, 2005 08:15 PM

I think I preferred the Richard Harris version. At least it was campy enough to be funny.

Posted by: Kathleen at April 19, 2005 08:16 PM

Bad song choice by Carrie - this just isn't one of the big "diva" disco songs, and that's what all the girls should be doing.

Posted by: Ian S. at April 19, 2005 08:16 PM

I like her. She looks like Barbie.

Posted by: Dakota at April 19, 2005 08:16 PM

wasn't the blonde woman christina applegate

Posted by: tony at April 19, 2005 08:17 PM

Carrie has a great voice. Scott's up doing everlasting love... what a joke. Everlasting beating is more like it.

Posted by: nastybastard at April 19, 2005 08:18 PM

Wow. Once he hit the chorus, every single note was off key, and he still hasn't recovered. Savol's plumbing new depths of suck.

Posted by: Ian S. at April 19, 2005 08:20 PM

Paula's dancing like she wants him, too. Gack.

Posted by: Dakota at April 19, 2005 08:21 PM

Disco still sucks.

Scott's up and this is one of the only disco songs that I actually could stomach...and he's pulling it off...I still think he sucks...but he pulled that out.

Posted by: Timmer at April 19, 2005 08:21 PM

Michele, it was missing him giving someone a beat down while he was singing it. ;)

Posted by: nastybastard at April 19, 2005 08:22 PM

I agree, Timmer. I'll say one thing for him: his phrasing is excellent. That's not quite the same as being a fantastic performer, but it's as good as it gets. And yet he'll still stick around, God help us.

Posted by: Kathleen at April 19, 2005 08:23 PM

That should have been Nadia singing, not Scotty Pilates.

Posted by: nastybastard at April 19, 2005 08:24 PM

Our sound is gone on this channel. Is it a local problem, or nationwide?

Posted by: Dakota at April 19, 2005 08:26 PM

Sound is fine for me.

Posted by: Ian S. at April 19, 2005 08:26 PM

What the HELL is Bo going to sing?

I think he oughtta completely geek out and do a little Parliment Funkadelic.

Posted by: Timmer at April 19, 2005 08:27 PM

Bummer. It's like someone hit the mute button here, but just on Fox. Why couldn't it have happened before Scotty the Body sang, at least?

Posted by: Dakota at April 19, 2005 08:28 PM

Eastern Europeans shouldn't be allowed to say "bootie."

Posted by: Timmer at April 19, 2005 08:29 PM

I officially hate Alex Trebeck for predicting that Anthony will be this years American Idol winner.

Posted by: nastybastard at April 19, 2005 08:29 PM

A few glitches, but this is a really good performance for Federov.

Posted by: Ian S. at April 19, 2005 08:30 PM

I don't know how it is that I don't know that song, but I've never heard it. He actually sounded *really* good. Go figure.

Posted by: Kathleen at April 19, 2005 08:31 PM

I'm liking Simon's comments tonight. He is "keeping it real."

Posted by: nastybastard at April 19, 2005 08:31 PM

Anthony...son...shave...'k? That's not a beard.

Posted by: Timmer at April 19, 2005 08:32 PM

What song did Anthony sing, anyway?

Posted by: Dakota at April 19, 2005 08:33 PM

Arrggh..stuck at work, trying to read between all y'all's lines. What song did Federov do??

Posted by: Rob at April 19, 2005 08:34 PM

i dont like anthony but he sounded good tonite. I have no comment for Scott.

Posted by: Caryss at April 19, 2005 08:35 PM

I was listening to RUSH and Zepplin in the middle 70s and punk at the end...don't ask me much about da disco thang.

Posted by: Timmer at April 19, 2005 08:35 PM

Come on Vonzell. I love me some Chaka Khan. Knock it out the box, baby.

Posted by: nastybastard at April 19, 2005 08:37 PM

Vonzelle is on fricking fire. You. Go. Girl.

Posted by: Ian S. at April 19, 2005 08:38 PM

I don't think I've ever heard her hit a bad note.

Posted by: Owen at April 19, 2005 08:39 PM

Michele, that hurts. ;-) It was a hit before Oprah was a weather girl. But our Vonzell, she was fantastic.

Posted by: Kathleen at April 19, 2005 08:40 PM

Watching Paula...it's hard to believe that Janet Jackson ever danced so well..

And Vonzell didn't do bad 'tall...yeah, she got away with it, I don't mind watching her.

Posted by: Timmer at April 19, 2005 08:40 PM

Vonzell - best performance of the nite!

Posted by: Caryss at April 19, 2005 08:44 PM

Earth Wind and Fire...about freaking time.

Posted by: Timmer at April 19, 2005 08:45 PM

The yawnfest contintues. Too bad he's so "not fun" Great voice, less filling.

Posted by: nastybastard at April 19, 2005 08:46 PM

Anwar sounds VERY monotone ... but his lil dance routine cracked me up

Posted by: Caryss at April 19, 2005 08:46 PM

I think this'd be a lot better if the guy singing backup were singing lead.

Posted by: Kathleen at April 19, 2005 08:46 PM

He's actually moving around. Was he "aerobizicing?" I know spelled that wrong.

Posted by: nastybastard at April 19, 2005 08:47 PM

Kathleen, I agree with you. Anwar was off.

Posted by: Dakota at April 19, 2005 08:47 PM

Since when did AI become the Birthday Train?

Posted by: Dakota at April 19, 2005 08:48 PM

Last Dance!? If Bo is singing that then I'm going to bed

Posted by: Caryss at April 19, 2005 08:49 PM

Please God...don't let Bo do something sucky...please-please-please...and if he does, make sure he and Nadia get a duet on their respective albums.

Posted by: Timmer at April 19, 2005 08:49 PM

When they announced "disco" I was thinking "pick a diva song and blow it OUT!" and so far only Vonzelle has delivered.

Posted by: Ian S. at April 19, 2005 08:50 PM

Oh come on...Vonzelle is the least Diva up there, Anwar, Constantine...THOSE are Divas baby.

Posted by: Timmer at April 19, 2005 08:51 PM

lmao timmer that was funny yet true

Posted by: Caryss at April 19, 2005 08:53 PM

Best voice on the show.

Posted by: Timmer at April 19, 2005 08:54 PM

Anwar picked a totally safe song and Constantine sucked. I'll take Vonzelle's performance over what those 2 did every day of the week.

Posted by: Ian S. at April 19, 2005 08:54 PM

Great way to end the show. That was really good.

Posted by: Kathleen at April 19, 2005 08:55 PM

That man can rock.

I may pick up a phone tonight.

Posted by: Timmer at April 19, 2005 08:55 PM

And that was a fantastic job by Bo.

Posted by: Ian S. at April 19, 2005 08:55 PM

I would love to see Bo, Vonzell, and Carrie in the type 3. Simon as always, right on the money.

Posted by: nastybastard at April 19, 2005 08:56 PM

Take 'em to school Simon...

Posted by: Timmer at April 19, 2005 08:56 PM

*top 3. I don't know what's up with my fingers tonight.

Posted by: nastybastard at April 19, 2005 08:57 PM

Seacrest, STFU!

Posted by: Timmer at April 19, 2005 08:59 PM

My votes are in for Bo and Vonzelle. (You can vote during the recap).

Posted by: Ian S. at April 19, 2005 08:59 PM

a type 3...I was wondering if that was a 70s thing I missed because of all the bongs

Posted by: Timmer at April 19, 2005 09:00 PM

Oy. Stupid internet fucked me again.

I think Paula is dreaming of being my internet connection. Completely fucked by random interfering strangers.

Posted by: kat at April 19, 2005 09:09 PM

Man...Terrible night for everyone exect Bo and Vonzel...as usual!
Anthony did O.K...Hes stills sucks tho.
Scott was bad
Constine isnt rocker anymore(I liked him when he was screaming with his band HINT:Sing Pantera!)
Anwar's voice is as flat as Simons head
Carrie was decend...but after seeing Nadia leave I wouldnt be suprised.
Simon speaks the truth
R4NdY Dog yoyoyoyoyoyo dude?
Paula was as drunk as a sailor again...
Thats my anaylis for this week!
Try picking a better theme next week...Bye Scott.

Posted by: Tortissboy at April 19, 2005 09:17 PM

Oh c'mon, Woodpecker. Admit it, Constantine is great and he's going to win.

Everything else was spot on.

Posted by: tarrant84 at April 19, 2005 10:13 PM

Tortissboy, if Constantine came out roaring "Cowboys from Hell" or "Walk".. America would not vote for him, simply because they would have no idea what the hell he's singing.

-----

Simon's comment about Barbie meets the Stepford Wives. He was right. Carrie does look like that. :/ In my opinion, she didn't do that well with this song.. I don't like the song to begin with but.. I try to look past that when I listen to the contestents do their songs. Carrie was just.. boring. She seemed to be struggling a little bit with the song, too, but that's just my opinion.

And I never want to see Scott make an attempt at disco dancing ever again. Ever. Again. He has the creepiest smile I've ever seen.

And his rendition of Everlasting Love. Okay, honestly? I try to go into these shows forgetting about how they've performed the week before.. but my god. He gets worse every week. I love how he totally missed that note at the end.

I will joygasm if he goes home this week.

Posted by: Nikki at April 19, 2005 11:20 PM

I'm late tonight, but I'll comment anyway. ;)

God help me, I'm starting to actually like Constantine. I despised this guy at the beginning but vocally he's grown so much that I can't say anything really negative about his last few performances, especially now that he's dropped the "rocker" thing. So, yeah, I need to shoot myself. Carrie blew that song out - great job. Vonzell sounded utterly amazing. Bo was on fire, but for me was missing a little something. Even Anthony did pretty well tonight. The two real downers were Scott and Anwar - definitely two of the bottom three. I can't call the third, too close for me. And America is apparently having what Paula's having so... who knows? Looking forward to tomorrow!

Posted by: DonnaK at April 20, 2005 12:35 AM

Trebek did not predict Anthony would win. He gave the answer a la' Jeopardy, and the question, also a la' Jeopardy, is yet unasked.

Posted by: Impacted Wisdom Truth at April 20, 2005 12:55 AM

I know I'm really late since I stayed up for two hours voting for Bo and I probably shouldn't be posting here because I'm a shameless Bo fan. BUT I have to stay that Bo blew me away last night--best performance bar none. Great God in Heaven, I know I love him.

Posted by: Melinda at April 20, 2005 06:55 AM

I didn't think Bo was any good. The songs were replayed on my radio this morning and Vonzelle, Constantine, and Anthony were the top three. Everyone else was sub par. I love Carrie, but think she should be in the bottom three to motivate her. Bottom three: Anwar, Scott, and Carrie (Bo is safe just because of last week) Bye Bye Scott!!!

Posted by: jeni at April 20, 2005 09:00 AM

I'm officially off the Anwar wagon. Bo and Vonzell for my final two. Holla!

Posted by: Solomon at April 20, 2005 09:51 AM

Anwar is like jello, alright but bland and boring. Carrie was a beat behind that whole sing. Constantine..eh. Scott not only sucks vocally but his gangsta "I'm gonna cut you yo" attitude alone should get him eliminated. Did you see that nasty puss on his face? fuck that fat shit if he can't take criticism. The truth hurts heh Scotty? Vonzell, always adorable and very good tonight. Anthony, please don't yell at me but I liked it a lot! Bo, the best, undoubtedly. Awesome performance. I hope Bo stabs Scott with a fork later.

Posted by: jen at April 20, 2005 10:27 AM

Yay, it's disco!! Last night was interesting, and fun to see how the contestants would handle it. I was a little nervous for Bo, since the theme was disco and all, but I should have known that he would hit it out of the park (OMG...I'm quoting Paula now!)

Constantine: Yes, he is a shameless poseur, but I think he is really entertaining to watch. Nice eyeliner. Maybe he could give me some makeup tips? I think his vocals have been really good for the past several weeks now. Wouldn't it be a trip if he WON?
Carrie: Carrie has an awesome voice, but I HATE this song. I hated it when Anthony Newley did it in the 60's; hated it when Donna Summer did it; what the hell does the song mean?? And who cares?? I think someone dropped a hit of acid before writing the song.
Scott: His vocals were a'right, but he's still creepy and disgusting. I've lost hope that he's going home.
Anthony: I hate it when he tries to dance. Again, his vocals are a'right, but so many other things are just wrong.
Vonzell: I really like Vonzell; I like her better than Carrie. V has a great voice and gets everything "just right", every week. She's in the Top 3 for me.
Anwar: I like this song, and he sang it well, but I just think Anwar is boring.
Bo: Bo totally rocked it!!! Go, Bo!! Who cares if he can't dance?? I loved this version of the song. I voted for Bo constantly for two hours (yes, I have no life) last night, so hopefully that helped keep him out of the bottom three tonight. (Are they still doing a bottom 3, as the numbers dwindle down)? BTW...Bo could stab me with his fork anyday... ;-)

Bottom 3: Scott, Anthony, Anwar.
Top 3: Vonzell, Constantine, Bo.

Posted by: Janet at April 20, 2005 11:46 AM

Janet, you're a pig. LOLj

Scott is going to be the next American Idol since it appears that fat, ugly, stupid, tone deaf people outnumber the rest of us normal folks.

Posted by: jen at April 20, 2005 12:16 PM

3.7% Anwar Robinson
10.1% Bo Bice
30.0% Carrie Underwood
43.5% Constantine Maroulis
6.1% Vonzell Solomon
3.3% Scott Savol

Ok, this is the latest polls according to fax. Constantine is in the lead. Notice the resident woman beater is in dead last yet, I can bet that Anwar is going this week instead.

Posted by: jen at April 20, 2005 12:20 PM

After watching Anwar dance around like he did, I'm starting to doubt whether or not the man is African-American.

Carrie has such an amazing voice by aside from taking a few steps here or there, she stands in one spot all the time and it makes her overall performance a little weak. Let me put it this way. If she had the energy of Vonzell, she'd beat everybody in a heartbeat.

Speaking of Vonzell, she doesn't have pipes like Carrie, but she really performs well and looks like she's having fun all the time.

Scott sucked. He sucked. He sucked. I'm tired of his stupid gangsta pointing at the camera and his death stares at anybody who dares to criticize him. Please vote him out already!!

Bo was a show stopper. Simon was right on the money when he said it was the only great performance of the night.

Scott should go. But alas, I think Anwar will be heading back towards East Orange, NJ.

Posted by: Jay at April 20, 2005 04:15 PM

Anwar is uh... something else. And he is going home tonight instead of Scott. And that's a travesty since Scott "Bit playa, two-bit gangsta wanna-be-sumthin" Savol has been bad for weeks.

Posted by: Solomon at April 20, 2005 04:24 PM

Scott looks like a ham with teeth

Posted by: jen at April 20, 2005 04:41 PM

Scott looks like he is missing a chromosome.
Please, please, please make him go away tonight.

Posted by: Mel at April 20, 2005 05:38 PM

Okay...done!

Posted by: Janet at April 20, 2005 08:01 PM

ummmmmmm....what song did constine sing last week? please email me with the answer. it is schnakita912@aol.com. thanks
