Oh, OK...

By Stacy

Had to catch that one on TIVO again, dammit...

Nadia - As my husband said, "Damn, she's got ALL the legs!" Yes, she does, dear...but not all the fine musical taste. Mac Davis? Come ON!! </Albert Brooks>

Bo - Xst, I hate this song. Like any song by Skynyrd is going to be vocally challenging. It wasn't fantastic, but if the remaining members of Skynyrd have a brain in their collective, beer-sodden heads, they'd hire this boy and go out on tour. Y'know, in a bus.

Anwar - Look here, girly man, you need to sack up and SING if you expect to stay in this thing.

Anthony - I'm sorry, the reedy tenor has become intolerable. I've taken to fast forwarding as soon as he opens his mouth.

Vonzell - Beautiful girl, beautiful voice. I'd love Bo to show us he can win, but I think this Miss is going to give him a run. (The teetering around stage on super high heels was a bit distracting, however.)

Scott - The low notes were out of his range, something someone should have pointed out to him in frigging rehearsals. And, I could tolerate him when he was humble...but this "I'm braver than millions who stayed home" bullshit ain't going to win any votes. Tanya, add "stupid" to the "fat and ugly" litany, wouldja.

Carrie - Eh, forgotten words or not, it was a bad condensation of the song from the get-go. Whoever does these should be spoken sternly to. She can hit the notes, and it's good to see a little change from all the twanging, but it's definitely not her strength.

Constantine - Mother. Of. Gods. Paula's comment that Constantine is now the one to beat is baffling, at best. The very best commentary on this *cough* performance came in the comment section of Michele's post during the show:

No. NO! Constantine's killing Freddy Mercury all over again.

And:

Bohemian Rhapsody, sung in the key of Hell, by Constantine Maroulis.

Congratulations to Kathleen on her trenchant and oh-so-timely observations.

On the judges...

Randy simply cannot wait for the applause to die down before yelling his 'hood platitudes at the contestants, and isn't that a real treat.

Paula's drug habit seriously needs to get under control. Sure, she looks fabulous, but she's freaking INSANE!

Simon, honey, you're known as a pop music pioneer and you're ignorant of the influence of Southern Rock? Get. Out. No, really.

How I wish a new crop of judges were brought in every year along with the contestants. These three...they chafe something awful.

Comments

I think - for better or worse - this was one of the more entertaining nights since the finals began.

Sekimori, you just earned 100 cool points from the hood bruhs on the Southwest side of Detroit for slappin' Randy. It ain't workin' brutha. We know your black, man. C'mon.

Paula needs to leave now. My wife and I get embarrassed watching her.

Simon = President of the International Haters Club. 'Nuff said.

Sorry, but I have to disagree about Simon....usually, even though it's harsh, he's telling them the truth. He's wasting their time, his time, OUR time, if he does otherwise...and he's been in the music biz for a very long time, so he's unlikely to be inclined to waste time, and they ought to listen a bit.

That's true about Simon but it was slightly disconcerting to hear him say that Freebird was not a well known song. And now that Bloated Scott looking more and more like a walrus everyday has the balls NOT to be humble, sucked so bad last night he probably went home and smacked his girl around to make himself feel better.

I couldn't stand Scott from the beginning, when in group rehearsals he copped a 'tude.

However, I did think he sounded good in the first half of the season, and I even forgot about his personality, and overlooked his scary and repulsive looks to vote for him.

But, seriously, since the genres have appeared, he has been beyond horrible. He is always pitchy, amateurish, with a phony stylized vibratto and added embellishments to make up for a bad singing voice. Even so, I kind of felt sorry for the guy and gave him credit for having the guts to go out there and sing.

Last night was the final straw. If Anthony, or Constantine had behaved like he did, the reprecussions would still be reverberating. First of all, his announcement that he was the real and true "rocker" was ludicrous.

Then, when he couldn't take Simon's criticism, but, had to give him the gang-banger hood hand signal, dismissing him, and all of America saying he was better than everyone and ROCKED, I thought I would literally puke.

This guy is beyond creepy, and he has the most mediocre singing voice. He looks like a psycho-killer, and his personality is not far behind. He has a look that is frightening. I cannot stand this tub of lard. I cannot stand looking at him, listening to him sing, listening to him brag, and act like a gangster.

Who in the world is voting for this obnoxious and repulsive loser? He has gotten way more than the 15 minutes of fame he deserves. He needs to go back to being a prison guard. He is disgusting, and a fat, abusive pig who is a horrible person, and even worst singer and performer.

Who is voting for this obnoxious and repulsive loser? All the obnoxious repulsive losers who idolize the thug 'tude and don't know anything about talent. Either that or people with really fat heads.

I thought last night's show was pretty entertaining! Cool idea: to pick songs from the year you were born (but disconcerting to realize that some of the songs were from when I was in college/high school!!)
Nadia: She looked great, and her song was okay, but not terrific. It was good, though.
Bo: I agree that his past 3 performances haven't been "over the top great," but he's still my favorite. Where has Simon been to suggest that "Free Bird" is not a very well-known song? It's the Southern Rock Anthem!! Where's my lighter?? I kind of dug it that Bo decided to sing it; his Southern buddies are probably proud.
Anthony: Okay voice, but boring. Next.
Scott: I actually thought this was Scott's best performance (for him), although he was still out-of-tune during much of it. However, I CANNOT STAND HIM!!! He is such a negative, small-minded jerk. He was even scowling in his baby photo!! And even though he has the guts to be on a stage that he shouldn't be on, that doesn't mean that he's a good or even passably good singer. I really want him to GO HOME, but I have no great hopes for tonight's results.
Vonzell: She just keeps getting better and better. Great song choice for her, and she looked beautiful as well.
Carrie: Poor Carrie! I know she was really trying to be rock-and-roll, but she is a boring "nice girl" at heart. She's safe s*x. She has a great voice, but no real charisma.
Anwar: He's good, but also, kinda boring. Maybe I'm just jaded.
Constantine: OMG!! I cannot BELIEVE he wanted to try to pull off this song. He's no Freddie Mercury, but he did a decent job. I HATE the close-ups, the backlit hair, etc, etc...yuck!, but he is a good entertainer (if you're 12). I don't think Simon's comment was a compliment!! LOL!
Bottom 3 Prediction:
Scott
Anthony
Nadia
