From the IdolonFox site:
IMPORTANT PROGRAM NOTE CHANGE
Due to an error with the graphics shown on-screen (incorrect voting numbers were displayed) during the performance recap at the end of last night’s AMERICAN IDOL, a live, one-hour show will air tonight, Wednesday, March 23 9/8c on FOX, to enable a re-vote. This new show will combine new live elements with encores of Tuesday’s performances from the remaining 11 contestants.
Phone lines will open at the conclusion of tonight's show and will remain open for two hours to give viewers the chance to vote for their favorite contestants and keep them in the competition. Only the voting results from tonight’s show will determine who received the lowest number of votes and will be sent home this week. Tune in to see who America has chosen to stay and who is sent home on the live results show tomorrow, Thursday, March 24 9/8c live on FOX.
NEW LIVE SHOW & ENCORE PERFORMANCES THEN RE-VOTE - TONIGHT 9/8c
LIVE RESULTS SHOW - TOMORROW 9/8c
Well. This certainly will be used for some sour grapes later on in the competition, don't you think?
This also means no batteries for any of us tonight! I'm going to hold off on making my elimination predictions until I see how they work this show tonight.
On the bright side - an extra night of looking at Paula and Mikalah!
Update: I'm hearing that the singers will peform LIVE rather than the show airing tapes of last night. Anyone else hear this? That would be weird. Not to mention wrong.
My favorite line from the AI message boards today:
I think the best solution would be to just ask Mikalah if she would like to be put out of her misery.
And, as many people have pointed out, the real losers are those who were waiting patiently for tonight's world premiere of Life on a Stick, which will now be pre-empted.
Read that how you may.
The news report I saw this morning sounded like they were going to sing again live. I guess we'll see.

Live performance is wrong! They had their chance last night - the producers should be showing tapes, if anything.
Grr. I don't like it when they mess with my programming. Idol and "Deadwood" are about the only shows I watch anymore, and I'm a little territorial. ;)

Nooooo! Whenever shall I get to see the world-shatterning premier of "Life on a Stick" now?

Does raise an interesting question this live v. taped thing. Do the performances on any given week really sway the way people vote?

For those of you who are going to miss not seeing tonight's debut of Life on a Stick, rent Good Burger. It will temporarily satisfy your craving for crappy fast food comedies.
*On another note, I'm starting a website dedicated completely to signing a petition to not air American Idol tonight in favor of Life on a Stick. It's at www.lifeonastickmustbeshownbecauseitmakesmylifelookgreatincomparison.com

Well this was the last taped week. All shows after this are live - at least that's the impression I'm under.
But I think you raise an intersting point - are the fan bases secured in the early rounds and people vote for who they get attached to right away, no matter how they end up performing? I have to think that's why Mikalah, Constantine and Federov are still with us.

"For those of you who are going to miss not seeing tonight's debut of Life on a Stick, rent Good Burger"
Hey, watch what you say. I LOVE Good Burger and I'm not afraid to admit it.

Why don't they just show clips of last night's performances with the correct numbers? Why do we have to be subjected to Squinty (Scott ) and No Neck (Jessica) and The Girl Everyone Loves to Hate (Mikalah)?

They're doing this to make you crazy. Yes, you alone.

i'd speculate that a lot of votes have already been made, regardless of performance. but i'm sure that like, 40% of the voters actually take singing into account...
ok. am i the only one who chuckled a bit when Jessica started singing a cover of Hurra Torpedo's "Total Eclipse of the Heart"? hahahahah

Dude, I linked to it in the live blog. I kept saying "where's the ass crack??"

i looked for the live blog (first thing i look for when i'm here), but couldn't find it! in your "category", it goes right from the ebay post (last week) to the post about do-overs...
i finally found the link via ASV. maybe you forgot to put the post in a category? either that, or i'm just high.

Yea, forgot to put the category in. Fixed it.
