American Idol 1/26 Discussion

I'll be posting during the show again starting at 8EST- feel free to discuss the show here as it happens.
Tonight's audtions are from Vegas. How many Elvises (Elvi?) will we see?

So, raise your hand if you knew Kenny Loggins was still relevant.
First contestant: She's 16? She looks like a used up 30 year old.
I think she was ghastly. I find myself agreeing more and more with Simon lately.
"Maybe someday I can buy my mom those implants she always wanted." You go, girl.
Second: Nice eyes, Jeffrey. They going to pop out soon?
Oh geez, he's constipated. And, he's out.
Third: Oh, yay. A Real. Live. Vegas. Showgirl! Thrilling.
Eh. Leaving me flat (unlike her chest, ba-dum-dum). Will be interesting to see how the boys like her.
Oh gee. What a surprise. She's going to Hollywood.
And tonight's What's Paula On guess is........do they still make Quaaludes?
Fourth: The first of the Elvi. He's about two steps up from being William Hung.
Fifth: One of the boy band brothers from last night is back.
Ugh, he got through. This season is going to be based on mediocrity.
Sixth: Annoying factor: 10
Holy shit, she just broke my window.
Her second song isn't so bad - I just don't like her.
This show is really annoying me tonight.
Seventh: Yes. 28 years old. In DOG years.
It took my a full 20 seconds to figure out what he was singing.
That was just retarded.
Eight: Another brother act - his brother tried out in Season 2. And yes, the no talent gene runs in the family.
This show is dragging. I wish ODB would come back for a second night.
Nine: Yeeha. It's rodeo time. Cowboy Elvis style.
Oh my god. This is excruciating. If I could go back in time, I would kill William Hung before he ever got on the show. It's all his fault.

Apparently someone missed a little something called "Kenny Loggins on Ice"
(actually, that's hilarious, the whole "raise your hand" thing. But Kenny Loggins is the ONLY reason it's funny)

ok, so out of the whole hour last night, there was ONE performer i liked. i can't remember his name because, frankly, by that point in the show i wasn't expecting anything great. he had a smooth, controlled voice, dark hair and olive skin. anyone? i'll be watching that guy.
i thought the asian chick with a big voice wasn't all that and a bag of chips.
of course i wasn't surprised when the showgirl advanced, but i was surprised when the twin from last night made it. i suppose he gets an a for effort.
i'm going to wear neon, cheesy pants to next season's auditions and a silly hat and get me on t.v. - yee haw! this show needs to move on to the next round......i'm dying here.
anyone know that good guy's name? i'll check the jaded journalist later to see, but i'm wondering....

I read somewhere that they're giving men easier passes than women this year, to try to balance it, because last year was so diva-heavy. I think that explains the twin. Ick.

my gawd, that 16 year old? i was riveted... i also thought that she looked, well... old. maybe not chronologically, but she sure looks like she's got a lot of miles on her. and i'm not sure if it was just a horrible tweeze job (it had to be), but i swear, her face already looks like she's had too much plastic surgery. gah!
and then she made it to the next round! double gah!

Yaah Sharon Galvez was awesome. She had this amazing voice that no one would want her to stop singing. Another was Mario Vasquez, wow what a voice. Is he Latin, Asian or something? if anybody know about please tell me ok!!!!!

I knew Mario from a youth group a few years back here in New York. He's Puerto Rican and from the Bronx.
I always remember him fondly as one of the sweetest guys I've ever met. He's really good-hearted and has a silly sense of humor. When I heard him sing on AI I was shocked. I had no idea he had so much talent. He's a really good, genuine guy and totally deserves whatever success this show brings him.
