Idol Chatter

By Michele

So, here's the burning question of the day for those of us (wo)man enough to admit that we watch American Idol:

Was Mary simply
a)an actress looking to get noticed
b) just another person looking to cash in on the William Hung gravy train
or
c) a mentally disturbed individual?

I'm thinking it was (b) but I know a lot of people leaning towards [c]. And if the answer is [c], is that explotation or entertainment?

Oh, I'm not going to lie. I was definitely entertained by Mary. In an uncomfortable sort of way.

My favorites from last night: the Rasta guy (good voice, nice charm) and the rock guy (not a great voice but at least his back story would provide the drama that last season was clearly missing).

Hated: The chick who sold her wedding ring to pay her way to the auditions. I don't know why, just a bad vibe I got from her and her stringy husband.

Best part of last night: Ogling Mark McGrath. Hated his band, love his look.

Last thought: Is it me, or did all the singers sound no better than average? And when will someone break out of the mold and choose a really offbeat song?

Update: Is it me or does Paula seem, ummm.....subdued? No, not subdued. Sedated. That's it. No, no. Maybe like.... she's been shot with an elephant tranquilizer? Yea.

Did they show the same episode both nights? I can't miss Lost, not even for Idol, so I skipped last night's show.

But if you mean the weird blonde at the end of Tuesday night, my guess would be (d) none of the above. I just think her friends lied to her. For a long, long time. Lied. Lied. Lied. *shudder*

Last night was new, from St. Louis. You didn't miss much - I wish they would show more of the people who made it and cut the freak show in half.

I haven't seen last night's yet (I watched "Lost"). I taped it though -- how's that for a sad sad thing? :) I did switch over during a few ad breaks and it seemed all freaks all the time.

Question: Chic who sold wedding ring. Am I the only one who noticed her husbands shirt was on inside out? All I could think was that it had a logo on it so they wouldn't show it on TV but surely they would give him a different shirt. Anybody?

I totally noticed that. Dude was too busy with the crack pipe before the show to turn the shirt right side out, I guess.

Mary totally squicked me too. Brrrr.

And I totally hated the ring-hocking chick and her upcoming live-on-Springer divorce.

Sigh.

Our cable got cut off, so I am completely not "in" on this part of this season. This is the only good part of the whole show, too. It just turns into so much dreck-and-milk later. I want to see the freeeeeeeeaks, mommy! Now!!

Okay, I finally watched my tape last night. A definite yes on the elephant tranquilizer question.
