The Bad and the Ugly

Nope, nothing good here. I'm with Joel Sherman - this game was unacceptable.

Just yesterday everyone was lauding A-Rod for finally waking up and coming out of his stupor and I warned them. Oh, I warned them. One game does not a "waking up" make, people. How did I know he'd be back to an 0'fer last night? He shot his whole damn load in one game. Against the D-Rays, no less. Hello? Paging Don Baylor!

So while the Mets were banging out six home runs against the Phillies, the Yanks bats remained dormant and another high-priced player that I didn't want (why does George not consult me on these things?)was having another crapfest of an outing. Six runs in seven innings. Yea, yea. He had eight strike outs. He could have 20 Ks for all I care. Bottomn line - Yanks lost and Johnson's ERA is a not exactly worthy of millions 5.13. I know, it's early. But I'm cranky this morning.

"I'm frustrated I haven't pitched well since I've been a Yankee," Johnson said. "Other than Opening Day, I'm disappointed. That should go without saying. "I expect a lot more out of myself."

So do we, Mr. Unit. So do we.

It's easy to chalk off this win to early season woes and yammer about how the Yanks didn't start off well last year, either, but we're 14 games in now and they don't look like a team that's going to get their shit together real soon. At what point to you stop blowing off losses by saying "it's early" and start facing the fact that the team you love looks like hell, and hasn't fixed any of the problems that turned them into losers last October?

Photoshop these bastards...the whole bloody team, but especially everyone masquerading as a pitcher.
