Hall of Fame: Underrated Finalists
New Category

It is, once again, official. We Built This City is the WORST ROCK SONG EVER. See final results here. I am VERY surprised at a) the amount of people who hate American Pie and b) the amount of people who don't hate Paradise.

Moving on, we have the finalists for MOST UNDERRATED/UNDERAPPRECIATED ROCK BAND.

I threw out some of your nominations. There is no way in hell Alice in Chains or Bad Company are underrated. Cream, underrated? Are you serious? TALKING HEADS?

[poll has been completed]

And the new category is something really simple for a lazy Sunday afternoon. Let's go back to the alphabet.

BEST BANDS/ARTISTS THAT BEGIN WITH THE LETTER C

last names for artists, please.

Update: Enough with the lists. Please try to stick to one or two.

Comments

Cake, Cream, Clutch, Camper Van Beethoven, Cracker, CCR. I can't pick just one. I'm sure there are more, but it's 7 am here on a sunday morning. one surely can't expect a body to think too clearly.

Cake or Death, err, I mean Clutch.

Cream
Credence Clearwater Revival
Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young
Clapton
Chicago ( the early years before they sucked)

Coldplay
Cracker
Cake
Counting Crows

Gabe, Jason, Brandon, Pril, try to pay attention m'k? We're done nominating, it's time to vote.

And Michele...good job remembering Nick Lowe with Rockpile. God, that was an amazing album.

Uhhh Tim...

Check again. Nominatoins open for BANDS THAT BEGIN WITH C.

Try to pay attention, mkay?

I'm going to second all of Jason E's, because, really, how can one argue? But I'm also going to add:

The Cure
Elvis Costello

Clapton
Cure
Camper Van Beethoven
Costello
Robert Cray
Ray Charles - Sure he may not be Rock n Roll now but he was at the time.

It's going to be tough to top Clapton.
Clash.

The Cult
Credence Clearwater Revival
Canned Heat
The Cars
Candlebox
Cheap Trick
Clannad
The Clash
Coldplay
Collective Soul
Concrete Blonde
Contraband
Counting Crows
The Cranberries
Crea
Creed (NOT!)
The Cure
Crystal Method
Sheryl Crow
Ry Cooder
Rita Coolidge
Larry Carlton
Cake
Cream
Clapton

Those are from a quick look at my iTunes window.

My serious nominees would have to be (in no particular order):

Credence
Cream
Cake
Cult
Clapton

And,

The Clash
Cheap Trick

I'll have to second Elvis Costello, Clapton, The Cure, Cake and Cream.
And then add Coal Chamber and Johnny Cash.

Clawfinger
I would also second Johnny Cash- if he counts.

Additions from my girlfriend's iTunes

Circle Jerks
Crucifucks
Crass
Christian Death
The Church
The Chameleons

She would also like to nominate Cake

Forgot this:

Nick Cave

Calexico
Circle Jerks
Clitboys

Let's hear it for CREEEEEED!

Best "C" band/artist?
Creedence Clearwater Revival

Also a nominee for the "best war songs that nobody knew were war songs"

Cheap Trick effinn aaayyy!!!!
Crowded House
The Cure

Well I thought that Talking Heads are underrated by most (they sure aren't underrated by me). Us fans tend to live anonymously behind a quiet rock somewhere :)

Elvis Costello would be my first choice.

If Captain Beefheart counts as a "C" (which it does in my alphabetized CD collection, using the "Jethro Tull" = "J" logic), then that'd be my 2nd choice -- otherwise, I'll go with Sheryl Crow.

(Now, if I was going by the number of recordings I own, I'd be voting for Chicago -- but I'm not...)

The Clash
The Cure
Cake
Clutch
Camper Van Beethoven
Cracker
Nick Cave

What?!?!? Nobody is going to nominate Coolio?

Chimaira
Clutch

The first moron who says Creed dies.

The Clash - no other C band comes close to their brilliance.

If brilliance is the criteria,

then CAKE!

See them live--preferably at a small club. Brilliance!

I saw Cheap Trick open for them in a 300-seat club last year. Both were great, CAKE was GOD!

Wtf? No Kings X or Voivod?

For C bands:

Cinderella

Ugh. Too many to choose from and most already mentioned. Here's my top 5:

The Clash
Elvis Costello
Cream
Eric Clapton
Cheap Trick

I hated eliminating The Cramps and The Cure, though.

And would it break your achy breaky heart to remember Billy Ray Cyrus for once??? (Ear worm! Happy Monday!)

The Cars because I like the scene in "Fast Times At Ridgemont High" where Phoebe Cates climbs out of the pool and opens her top.

Elvis Costello
The Clash
Nick Cave
The Cramps

Elvis Costello
Clash

Clash, without a doubt.

A couple of others I didn't see mentioned but I really like:
Marshall Crenshaw
Alex Chilton
Cracker
Eddie Cochrane
Crazy Horse

Best that begin with "C" right?

The Clash
Cake
Cream
Creedence Clearwater
The Cure

and (gasp!)

Cypress Hill.

Creed
Collective Soul

It's a good thing you said, "best bands," or I'd feel it necessary to nominate Crazy Joe and the Variable Speed Band for completeness.

I am fond of the Cluster Pluckers, though.

CHEAP TRICK

COCTEAU TWINS

THE CLASH

CAMISA DE VÊNUS
