music lists for a holding pattern

I'm working on something really long and detailed, which no one will probably read but which I feel the need to write, anyhow, which has to do with New York in 1977. It's going to take me a while to get it up here.

Meanwhile, the musing fat kid, who isn't fat at all is actually kind of hot, wants to know what music you work out to. He made his own list here.

So, what's your work out music? And if you don't work out (like me), what's your power cleaning music (because power cleaning is my alternative to working out) or yardwork music?

Comments

I put my Itunes Mini on shuffle play when mowing the yard.

The soundtrack from Top Gun.

Currently walking-the-dog, soon to be yard-working music (we close in 2 weeks, woo!):

Walking - Smith & Mighty
Disco Beaver - Illegal Substance
Don't Leave Me This Way - Thelma Houston
Down When I'm Loaded - Oleander
Comin' Back - The Crystal Method
Muleta - Calexico
Glory Box - Portishead
Narayan - The Prodigy
Everyone'll Let You Down - The Philosopher Kings
Human Behavior - Bjork
Slip - Autechre
High on Sunday - Aimee Mann
Love Me Like That - Michele Branch (w/ Sheryl Crow)
The Remedy - Jason Mraz
Finer - Nightmares on Wax
Myself - Kara's Flowers
Beyond the Sea - Bobby Darrin
Epic - Faith No More
Click Click Boom - Saliva
Wish You Were Here - Incubus
Hide U - Kosheen

I don't work out at gym or have power cleaning sessions but I do like to ride my bicycle for an hour or two a few times a week. These are the tunes I like best, at this moment in time, a mixture of old and new.

Basement Jaxx - Jump N' Shout
Fatboy Slim - Love Island
Prodigy - Voodoo People
Ash - Girl From Mars
Tragically Hip - New Orleans Is Sinking
QOTSA - No One Knows
Maximo Park - Graffiti
Ramones - Sheena Punkrocker
Kaiser Chiefs - I Predict A Riot
The Strokes - Modern Age
Pogues - Fiesta
Undertones - Teenage Kicks
Pixies - Where Is My Mind?

Mine would be more power-coding than power-cleaning, but I'll crank pretty much anything by FNM, Live, Green Day, AC/DC, (old) Van Halen, Foo Fighters, and the like.

I've been using Scissor Sisters a lot lately.

work out?? what is this work out of which you speak?

oh yeah... that's the thing I keep vowing to do but haven't worked up the will-power to actually do.

so, do you want the entire 2,500+ songs I've gotten into the iPod so far?

shuffle away...

My workout MP3 Player (Chiba Rio) has:

Green Day: American Idiot
Blondie: Live In New York
Peter Gabriel: My Secret Garden Live
BoDeans: Slash and Burn
And some New Age crap called Tai Chi Sunrise that works real well with the Tai Chi Form I do to cool down but I really hate electronic ocean sounds on it so it's kind of distracting.

Thanks for the link. Funny thing though. I got into work this morning and decided that I was done with my blog - lol. Go figure.

My workout music is the same as it was n high school. It consists of 4 cd's:

Pantera- Cowboys From Hell
Metallica- Master of Puppets
Pantera- Vulgar Display of Power
Metallica- Kill 'Em All

Crank it loud, and listen to Dimebag and Phil tear it up, and James when I still liked him.

For running:

Tom Jones version of Burning Down the House
Proclaimers' 500 Miles, Slowburner
Paul Simon Graceland (Al, Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes, Graceland)
Eurythmics' Sweet Dreams
REO Roll with the Changes
The Killers' Mr. Brightside, Somebody Told Me
Black Eyed Peas Let's Get it Started
Collective Soul December
The Baby's Every Time I Think of You
Echo & the Bunnymen Lips Like Sugar
Blue Oyster Cult Don't Fear the Reaper
Queen Don't Stop Me Now
Flock of Seagulls I Ran
A-Ha Take on Me
