I don't know what to say at this point that won't result in me going absofreakinglutely nuts, so see here, then here. And, reinforcing what I said last night over at Michele's ASV site, see here. My only solace... [Read More]

Well Jeez, you were going up against Mark Hendrickson.

It's true the Yankees are off to a bad start. Unfortunately, for all of us around the world who are not particularly fond of the Yankees, George has heretofore somehow sublimated his a-hole tendencies just enough to keep Joe Torre in the fold. As long as George doesn't do anything really stupid like firing Joe or acting so idiotically that Joe has no choice but to resign, there will sadly still be hope for a Yankees comeback...

Losing 3 out of 4 to the Devil Rays? That's Dispicable. I can only laugh, as you try to recruit people to the "coalition of the dark side."
I'm rooting for DJ's team.. but the Yanks? Umm.. not so much...

MikeR: you are exactly wrong. Darth Boss George has to go stark raving mad right now, or this squad is screwed. He might not be anxious to weather the media shitstorm firing Torre would bring down, but remember, this is the psychopath who fired Yogi Berra for a far less craptacular performance, after publicly assuring Yogi his job was safe. And his recent public pronouncements have specifically put Torre and GM Brian Cashman square in the crosshairs. He could fire a shot across the bow...he'd laugh at the bitching lopping off Mel Stott's head would entail.
He wouldn't deserve it, and it might drive Torre to resign, but at this point, those guys are dead in the water. Drop a bomb in the yacht and see if the crew can swim.

Oh, my. You know it's bad when they post their first-ever series loss to the Rays. Time to redesign the warning system, Michele?

Would you guys like to rent Clemens for a while?
It doesn't look like we'll be needing him this year. I mean, it's not like his teammates are lending him a lot of support or anything.

And thanks to your survey answers, we now know what's getting yelled at the TV.

With an 11-18 record, the Yankees are on pace to go 61-101, the reverse of their record last season. The Yankees have not lost 100 games since 1912, two years before Joe DiMaggio was born.
New chant for Fenway fans: "1912! 1912! 1912!"
Heh.

Poor Yankees. But look at the bright side, Yankee shirts and hats will be 1/2 price in no time.
Cannot wait to the weekend of May 20th when we finally put the Yankees down once and for all.

drew: No such luck. Tonight and tomorrow were "Cap Night/Day" swag giveaway games. One problem: someone hijacked the shipment.

1912?
Nice multiple meanings here
This is the year the Titanic (that other monument to hubris) went down
It also is the year that Fenway opened and was a year in which the Sox won the AL pennant (in a runaway) and defeated the NY Giants in the WS

Mike: First ever series loss to the D-Rays? Hardly. Last one was in September 2002.

What will happen if Georgie's horse Bellamy Road loses?
When I gloated to a friend about the AL East standings (also a die hard Red Sox fan) he said: Let’s not get carried away. Remember a little history. The Yankees are like the Democrats — you can’t kill them and they keep coming back relentlessly.

That's what I get for watching the YES broadcast. Maybe they meant first-ever series win in Tampa.

Hey, look on the bright side! The Red Sox are winning!
Kick Ass.
Enjoy the Curse of A-Rod

Mary, the more frightening question is: what if George's horse loses, and the one Torre owns a piece of wins?

As a Rangers fan, I'm hoping this is the weekend the Yanks come alive.

TC - dare to dream!

You could always start rooting for the best team in NYC. The Mets are 15-14 :)
Mwahahahahaha cough...hack...cough

Okay as a Red Sox fan I would like to remind the others of our record in the past few years when we crush the Yankees early have a huge lead and then we get crap like Bucky f*%&$ Dent or end up looking up at the Yankees in September.
Note I don't think it is going to happen this year but why tempt fate.
Oh and now that the Red Sox have won it is a little more fun to root for the DRays instead of NY and Boston cause there ain't much difference between two teams of high priced, over the hill, arrogant, slow, recent World Series Champions.
Posted by: Rob M | May 6, 2005 03:36 PM
Rob - What? There's a huge difference between the two teams. The Red Sox have Tim Wakefield (swoon). And, the Red Sox are funner than the Yankees.

Sorry. No help here. In fact, any time a salesclerk or tech support (or darned near anyone else) asks me, "Can I do anything else for you?" or the like, I always ask them for help getting the Mets in the Series...

TC - I would be thrilled to death if George went nuts. It hurts my brain for the Yankees to have so many guys I respect. Would it be asking too much for him to get rid of Mel, Joe and Derek Jeter in one fell swoop?

Don't forget Tino, Riviera and Posada.
Michele, would it be too much to ask for a Farkit-like extension for you comments? Those HTML tags are a pain in the ass to write.
