Playgirl EIC Outs Herself as an Idiot
PLAYGIRL EDITOR-IN-CHIEF OUTS HERSELF -- AS REPUBLICAN
Also known as: Worst reason ever for party affiliation.
How could a member of the media who produces adult entertainment for women possibly side with conservatives from the red states? Zipp spells it out. “Those on the right are presumed to be all about power and greed – two really sexy traits in the bedroom. They want it, they want it now, and they’ll do anything to get it. And I’m not talking about some pansy-assed victory, I’m talking about full on jackpot, satisfaction for all.” “The Democrats of the Sixties were all about making love and not war while a war-loving Republican is a man who would fight, bleed, sacrifice, and die for his country. Could you imagine what that very same man would do for his wife in the bedroom?” asks Zipp.
Wow. You know that saying It is better to be silent and thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt?
Yea. That.

You can have her. :-)

No thanks Roxanne, how 'bout we agree to push her to the Libertarian Party... (they take anyone these days; and it's a perfect fit)

That's actually about as good a level of understanding of "the right" as one can expect in ... er ... that sector. I'd say her view is easily a hundred times more coherent than Larry Flynt's.
But then, so would be that of a banana slug...
Posted by: McGehee | March 8, 2005 10:48 AM
if Larry Flynt ever turned Republican, I'd switch to libertarian faster than CNN can censor a controversial story...

"while a war-loving Republican is a man who would fight, bleed, sacrifice, and die for his country."
HA! Since many Repub's are chickenhawk blowhards, I feel sorry for their women. Or men.
Naked republicans. Eww.

Hmm... can't decide what's the most ridiculous:
Zipp's "all about power and greed" or
Vince's "chickenhawk blowhards"
Posted by: JFH | March 8, 2005 12:43 PM
Vince aspires to being ridiculous. He wishes he had the credibility of a Janeane Garofalo or Sean Penn.
Posted by: McGehee | March 8, 2005 12:56 PM
Well you gotta admit, Kevin, he's almost as funny as Sean Penn (or for that matter the present-day Garofalo)
Posted by: JFH | March 8, 2005 01:08 PM
My statements were not meant to be funny. 'Tis the truth.
It's not a great stretch to say that, generally speaking, lefties are better in the sack. We're, generally speaking, caring nurturers. Righties, eww. Libertarians, good lord I wouldn't want to be there.
Clinton was a player, whereas Dubya is a video-game player.
Posted by: Vince | March 8, 2005 01:18 PM
Ah yes, the caring and nurturing relationships of Slick Willy. Why don't you recount them for us?

generally speaking, lefties are better in the sack
I motion for Presentation of Empirical Data.
Posted by: Shawn | March 8, 2005 01:27 PM
jeez...if Republicans who support war but don't join the service are chickenhawks, then I guess that makes liberals who blindly criticize the military but haven't or won't join the service themselves...chickenshits.

Fighting and bleeding means a hell of a lot of sheets needing washing or replacement.
Posted by: Laurence Simon | March 8, 2005 03:01 PM
Well, can we count anecdotal evidence data ... I dated a leftie once and he had NO SEX drive at all. His poor wee little winkie ...
Since he's the only lefty I dated, I can state with absolute certainty that 100% of them have no drive. I've always wondered about Alan Colmes ...
Posted by: Carin | March 8, 2005 03:02 PM
Actually much of what Bush & Co are about is a constant struggle to prove their manhood. See article:

There should be some sort of severe penalty for bringing up Alan Colmes in a sexual context. I'm just sayin'.

re: Vince
Well, we know what is said about people who have to incessantly brag ...
re: Alan Colmes
what Ian said [ewww...I just had lunch]

Jaysus on a Pony, Dana
That was parody, right?
if not, well, a-holes can be "psychologists" too.
I think I need to go scrub my brain after his insulting inanities.

VINCE! Welcome back to the fold, Vince. Been so long, I almost forgot how inane your comments could be.
Posted by: michele | March 8, 2005 03:52 PM
Well, Dana, you've convinced me. A left wing psychoanalyst from San Franciso makes a diagnosis from afar about the Bush administration, and, SURPRISE, it turns out that these are really sociopathic guys trying to prove their manhood.
You can tell that this author longs for the days when Alan Alda was a sex symbol.
Hmm... I wonder how he would have analyzed Clinton (the real man without guilt)?
Posted by: JFH | March 8, 2005 03:56 PM
(sorry - about the Colmes thing.) But, I'm just saying - the man isn't screaming out sexuality.
Again, sorry, what's my punishment? Does it involve whips and handcuffs?
Posted by: Carin | March 8, 2005 06:24 PM
Oh.
My.
God.
These are the kinds of minds that have paved the way for America's next four years. I'm so happy I could just eat a box of tacks.

Thesaurus Rex wins the "Drama Queen for a Day" crown with that comment. Oh. MY. God. Rethuglikkkans are SO EVIL. Jinkies!
And on Planet Earth... there's something I haven't seen anyone comment on yet: this woman's name is "Zipp"? Oh get out.
Posted by: Andrea Harris | March 8, 2005 08:46 PM
Playgirl? The magazine for gay men who haven't discovered the internet yet? Did any women read that after graduating (or even dropping out of) high school?
Posted by: jon | March 8, 2005 08:57 PM
Hey Vince, yeah Clinton was a player, all right. A guy with a five-inch dick who used his positions of power to troll for chicks with low self-esteem. Yeah, what a player. He wouldn't have lasted ten minutes in a bar on his own. Feh.
Posted by: CraigC | March 8, 2005 09:21 PM
I guess that makes liberals who blindly criticize the military but haven't or won't join the service themselves...
...turtledoves.

Wow. That's just weak. "Well, yeah, but... you're not getting laid!" What weak trollery.
Btw, I wonder how Drudge got this story. Was it in an issue of Playgirl? How did he find out?
Just asking.
Posted by: Daniel | March 8, 2005 11:44 PM
Carin, you're such a bad girl.
Posted by: CraigC | March 9, 2005 02:26 AM
Whenever i think of the modern left in any sort of sexual context, an image of Rik from "The Young Ones" invades.
Posted by: pril | March 9, 2005 03:03 AM
there are many people who work in the sex industry (from online discussion through clubs, messageboards, etc.) that define themselves as republicans or independents or libertarians or anything but "democrats". when it comes to censorship let's not forget which side gave us political correctness and the whole Tipper Gore deal. from my experience it's usually middle class white women (many registered democrats) that are the most sexually repressed. much of the anti-pornography protests have come from old-school feminist democrats that are stuck in the woman as victim concept. thankfully there are pro-pornography neo-feminists that have offered an alternative to the self-defeating garbage of the past.

Didn't Patton say it was the goal to make the other bastard die for his country? I think Vince is either stupid or just plain ignorant with regards to the role of the military and their goal, which is to stay alive and make the other bastard die.
