saturday morning cereal and cartoon party
I've decided to have a virtual cereal and cartoon party, as I have no friends outside of the internet, at least none who would be so interested in something like this, as I know you all are.
I'm going to watch Bugs Bunny, Super Friends, Hong Kong Phooey, Grape Ape, Captain Caveman and Johnny Quest.
I'll be eating Kaboom and Quisp.
What are you watching and what are you eating?
(BYOM)
and even though I've always been told not to, I'm going to go ahead and apologize for the lack of original or interesting content here in the past week. The brain seems to have shut down and I can't locate the restart buttong
Comments
I must have lost my inner child.
Strawberry Pop-Tarts and the news.

Way to kill it with the first post, Matt.

ummm...sorry. I'll slink away in shame now.

Count Chocula for me please, and I'd like to watch:
Looney Tunes, Josey and the Pussycats, Jonny Quest and Sigmund and the Seamonsters.
Sad thing is, I'm 41 and would still do that.

cinnaman life and hoping to catch a new justice league. Or are the transformers still on? If I am real lucky I will get to see Foghorn Leghorn (still my favorite)

The kid me is having Apple Jacks and watching Bugs Bunny, Super Friends, Johnny Quest and Land of the Lost.
The adult me is having oatmeal and coffee and watching Bugs Bunny, Action League Now, and Invader Zim.

You need to check the "sell by" date on that Kaboom, they stopped making it about 20 years ago. You might want to check your milk while you're at it.

Kaboom? Tell me they don't still make that craop... first cereal my mom had to throw out because we wouldn't eat it... Frankenberry, however, is a different story (Quisp is a good second though). Then again, you can never go wrong with the classics, Froot Loops, Trix, and Lucky Charms (all proir to their bastardization by adding new flavors, or in the case, of Lucky Charms, shapes).
Cartoons (on the theme of mixing Captain Caveman and Johnny Quest together in one cartoon):
A semi-good fit: Mighty Mightor. Remember "Back, back to where you belong" as he through the dinosaur of the week over a mountain? (should have just killed him; given the foe's weight, they surely splatted when they landed back in their homeland.)
But the ultimate match: The Herculoids, who could forget Zandor, Tara, Dorno, Zok, Gloop, Gleep, Tundro and Igoo. My favorite was Tundro, but he was not used in every episode. CARTOON DISCREMINATION!!!

Yea, and Hong Kong Phooey isn't on anymore, either.
Do I have to hand out imaginations at the door? Sheesh.

MY wife is out of country. So my sons and I are having a Justice League Marathon on the DVD player. Sausage links and eggs with Krispy Kreme chasers for all.

Just coffee, which I also would have loved a a kid if anyone had let me try it. And Spongebob, of course.

If I had my druthers, it'd be Frosted Flakes and either GI Joe or Superfriends. But I don't have my druthers.

I bet Michele was one of those kids that caused the demise of Quake (opting for that ditz with the propeller beany, instead of the strong manly guy with the cool flashlight helmet.)

Cap'n Crunch with Crunch-Berries. And "Kids Next Door."
Posted by: McGehee | March 5, 2005 10:12 AM
Life Cereal or Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch and a marathon of Looney Tunes, Speed Racer, Kimba the White Lion, the Banana Splits, HR Pufnstuf, Davey and Goliath, Land of the Lost ... sorry, the live action was big in my day and I was HOOKED!
The reality today, though, is it's bran flakes, coffee and a marathon of Invader Zim on the DVD player while I do homework.

Cocoa Krispies and the old Bugs Bunny/Daffy Duck cartoons....the ones that aren't politically correct these days.
And the old Mighty Mouse ones that took place in some old shop where the characters on the packages came to life and had adventures - like the bad guy on the sandwich spread can who chases the little Dutch girl from the baking soda can....gotta love that stuff.

I still really eat Lucky Charms.Love that crap, amd it goes so well with Roger Ramjet

I have friends that I have Saturday morning cereal & cartoon parties with. Cereal of choice? Mud n' Bugs......it had the highest sugar content. Cartoons? Well, our masochistic streak warrants that we choose only the worst of the worst. (Ex: Backyardigans, the new version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Jimmy Neutron).

Its Apple Jacks for me, the apple flavored milk was a great way to end the meal.
As for the cartoons, Looney Toons of course (I'm a Wile E Coyote type of guy), A little Bullwinkle and top it off with some Fat Albert ... HAY, HAY HAY!!!

My folks were party animals in the 70's (my cartoon heyday) and hence late risers on Saturday morning so my morning ritual consisted of Cereal Suicide: the last bit of cereal from three or four boxes of Cap'n Crunch, Apple Jacks, Raisin Bran and Fruity Pebbles all dumped into a small mixing bowl and topped off with whole milk - being lactose intollerant that was my treat because I hated that other crap mom used to give me. ugh.
Then I'd settle down for a marathon of Loony Tunes, Speed Buggy, Scooby Doo, Superfriends, Wonder Twins, Land of the Lost, Far Out Space Nuts, Ultra-Man, Speed Racer, and Johnny Sako and his Giant Robot. Man I miss those days.

Cookie Crisp and Voltron (the Five Lions)!
Posted by: Shawn | March 5, 2005 01:24 PM
I started my day today with a microwaved chicken patty with BBQ sauce on it (no bun) and a VHS tape of the first 4 epsiodes of X-Men: Evolution...

I was eating fake eggs and Italian sausage while watching Millenium Season 2 on DVD. This is who we are.

I'd kill for some Boo-Berry right about now. It's the forgotten monster cereal. We could all use more blue food...
Posted by: Bri2k | March 5, 2005 06:42 PM
Maple flavored oatmeal and watching G-Force!
Posted by: robert | March 5, 2005 07:12 PM
Bri2k,
The truly forgotten Monster cereal was "Fruit-Brute". He was a Were-wolf wearing Hippy clothes, peddling fruity cereal. It didn't last long I'm afraid.
It's also pathetic that I know this stuff.
Posted by: Randy | March 5, 2005 08:48 PM
Quisp. I miss that cereal.
If not Quisp, I'd be going for the Super Sugar Crisp... Not the PC Super Golden Crap of today. Oh yeah, and the Bug Bunny/ Roadrunner hour, SuperFriends & Land of the Lost.
Then a glass of TANG and a Space Food Snack...
Posted by: Jack Grey | March 5, 2005 11:08 PM
I'd go for Cap'n Crunch Cruncberries, back when all the berries were still red. And I'd be watching Transformers. Wait, I own the DVDs... I can actually do this!
Posted by: John S. | March 6, 2005 02:13 AM
fritz the cat and double strength short blacks
Posted by: g | March 6, 2005 04:12 AM
Frosted Flakes and Tom and Jerry...
Gotta love the classics....

Arrrgh
I can't believe Michelle linked a picture of the "cowboy poser" Quake instead of the original "miner" Quake!
Original Quake for me (Quisp for my sister) and The Bugs Bunny/Roadrunner Hour.
(Links provided for "nostalgia purposes")
;)

Sorry, that's supposed to be Michele not "Michelle".
