Friday Fun: iPod version [updated]

You know what love is? Love is mentioning that you're bored with the songs on your iPod and getting to work, plugging the thing in and realizing that your husband spent last night dumping about 40 more albums onto your playlist.

The best part of not being the one who loaded up the iPod is being surprised at what comes on next. So far, this has been a stellar musical morning. I was going to do one of those "what's playing" lists, but thought this would be a good opportunity for a guess the lyrics game.

And you have to play, or Matilda will be unhappy. This is what Matilda looks like when she's mad. Is that what you want? No. (Thanks to Wayne for the image)

7. Is sublime, Ball and Chain off 40oz to freedom. love that album. what a staple.

I have no clue what those other ones were.

Oh! number 4 - Cypress hill - How I could just kill a man.

I'm doing this on 3 hours sleep, so I think I've done alright. :)

3. Nick Cave (and Kylie of course) - Where the Wild Roses Grow
4. The Cure - Why Can't I Be You?
5. House of Pain - Jump Around
6. U2 - I Will Follow
11. Misfits - Where Eagles Dare
15. Marilyn Manson - Tourniquet
17. The Clash - Magnificent Seven
18. The Jam - That's Entertainment

Oh! number 4 - Cypress hill - How I could just kill a man.

Shank, that's #5, which Scott got wrong, but he got all the others right.

Damn. I never was good with numbers. I'm dyin to know what 20 is.

#19 : Bloodhound Gang - Your Only Friends Are Make Believe...

#20 is Clutch - A Shogun Named Marcus

13 Five minutes alone, PanFUCKINGtera

Gold ribbons to Buh, Stacy and Uncle!

I knew 19 too but buh beat me to it.

I'm the root of all that's evil, but you can call me cookie.

"It was a stratocaster with a whammy bar "

Frank Zappa - Joe's Garage (which is sadly the only one I recognized...)

"it's been two years and counting since they put her in this place"

Pearl Jam - Why Go Home. You know, I worshipped that album, and they never, ever made another record with anywhere near that same brilliance. Not ever. Biggest musical disappointment in my life to date.

I agree Jim. Nothing Pearl Jam does will ever compare. We used to say they started with a 10 and went down a number with each album.

Added #6: The Smiths - Shoplifters of the World (Unite and Take Over)

1 is Everclear, What do I Get?
2 is Billy Idol. "To Be a Lover" I think.
8 is Anthrax, I am the Law
9 (appropriately enough) is NIN, The Wretched
10 (also appropriately enough) is 2-4-6-8 Motorway

1 is Everclear, What do I Get?

Everclear? I should kick you upside the head for that.

The rest are right, as is Scott's. Time to add some more.

list one -
14) Lagwagon, "Mr. Coffee"

list two -
3) Deftones - "Pink Maggit"

All these thoughts they make no sense, I find bliss in ignorance

LP, "One Step Closer" or whatever it's called

14) Lagwagon, "Mr. Coffee"

That's why I love this man. No one else was going to get that.

Right on both.

Takes about 12 seconds to dump an album into an IAudio M3.

Nyah, nyah.

Hey, I didn't say dumping the albums took all night. The care and love with which he picked out the albums did. Nyah.

That's why I love this man. No one else was going to get that.

Well, it's kind of hard to forget a SoCal sneaker-punk tune that actually breaks down into the Mr. Coffee jingle during the bridge. Stuff like that is so aurally damaging that it gets seared into your cortex, looping itself over... and over... and over...

#30 is Faith No More, Underwater Love

i think that's the name of the song at least.

I'm going to have to post the mp3 when I get home, just so everyone else can hear it.

Rex, FNM but not Underwater Love.

ah! more SoCal punk...

  • 31 - NoFX - See Her Pee
  • Off "45 or 46 Songs That Weren't Good Enough to Go on Our Other Records"

Christ almighty, that band did not give a shit.

I actually pulled that one off of Short Music for Short People. I have a love/hate relationship with NOFX.

Ooh, I know 27. That's Make Yourself by Incubus.

And 29 is I'm Not Okay by My Chemical Romance, from Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. That's a fun CD.

Right on both counts, Joel. I love the MCR CD - so unpretentious.

39 coheed and cambria - a favor house atlantic.

    #38 - "Christian woman"

    Type O Neagative

Fine, #1 is obviously the original. Buzzcocks. Shoot me, but I couldn't remember whether the original was them or the Sex Pistols, so I cheated.

And to finish off the original set, 12 is Refused, New Noise. 16 is Beck, Soul Sucking Jerk. And it seemed familiar, so I checked your archives.

    35 suck my kiss, RHCP

    24. tool- hooker with a penis
    30. fnm- falling to pieces (somebody put me together!)
    34. smashing pumpkins- muzzle
    36. radiohead- exit music (for a film)

Andy the bombardier with the quadruple, err..something.

    32. white zombie- thunderkiss '65

I never knew what he was saying, but repeating the lyric in my head 20 times (because it sounded familiar) gave it that proper cadence. if you had put "I got a heart atomic style YEAH" I would've known in a second.

    45. "Screaming Infidelities", Dashboard Confessional.

Wow. I actually got one of these.

    40. hum- stars
    42. alice in chains- them bones
    44. rage against the machine- bulls on parade
