I just got back from a Yahoo message thread on the article that quotes Roger Clemens' response to the whole mess.
Remind me never to do anything noteworthy in public (sports, politics, whathaveyou) without having the disposition of Mother Teresa and the moral perfection of Jesus Christ.

I don't know, the original story quoted the umpire. Now, I don't like Clemens. Never did, probably never will so I'm less likely to believe him. But... do you think it's possible he's blowing smoke out his butt? He knows he has a national megaphone and the umpire is just some small-town schmoe.
The only thing Clemens is owed is a smack from Piazza. Of course, Piazza's too wimpy to do that, but he should have done it in the World Series.
