New Yorkers Boo a Politician!! Breaking! Amazing!

Another morning that I'm working on something a bit long that won't be done for a while yet. Meanwhile, here's something amusing: Cheney was booed at the Yankee game last night. The DU people think this is HUGE news. A political figure booed at a sporting event? Wow. Will wonders never cease? I don't think I've ever seen a politician at a sporting event who wasn't booed. And in New York? Not exactly a Bush state, so I wasn't expecting cheers and accolades for Mr. Cheney. But, hey. If this is what makes the DU folks wet their pants, then I'll just sit back and laugh at them. This is not HUGE news, as they put it. It's typical, it's expected and it's been going on for years and years, no matter who the politician shown on the big screen is. It is to laugh. Ok, nevermind that. Go read this lengthy, but excellent piece by Ed Moltzen: More Than Just Digital Brownshorts.

If they really put any import in Cheney getting booed, they know nuthin' about Bleacher Creatures, who have been known to chant: "Box Seats Suck!" when they get bored.

Besides, Pataki was standing next to Cheney, and he's a walkin' talkin' upstate asshat.

I'm thinking it was Pataki. After all we all know that was a Cheney double at the game last night.

"I don't think I've ever seen a politician at a sporting event who wasn't booed. And in New York? Not exactly a Bush state, so I wasn't expecting cheers and accolades for Mr. Cheney."

Interesting. So in this post, you basically admit that Cheney is a very unpopular politician, especially in New York.

This is good, Michele. Very good. You've come far from the arab-hating, neo-con, Iraq liberation junkie that patrolled this site a few months ago. Understanding is the first step towards analysis.I Predict: within a few more motnhs you will agree with the booers. Especially when you see the kind of reaction that ordinary New Yorker's give to Cheney and Bush this August.

Cheney got booed? Who cares. At least he had the balls to show up. When is Hillary (my fave AL team is the Yankees) Clinton going to show her sour puss at a game?

If you think it was bad when she got booed at MSG at the 9/11 concert wait until the Yankee fans get to show their love for her - it'll be brutal.

Oh and Dweezil, you are an idiot. Are you still upset that Saddam is going to be executed? Don't worry there are other murderous, terrorist, dictators you can show your love for, dick.

I was booing the hat, not the man. Nothing like a Yankee hat to make you look like a Dick, eh?

I think Hillary could bring back a tradition from the Bronx Zoo Era: the Duracell Downpour.

"I don't think I've ever seen a politician at a sporting event who wasn't booed."

A few years ago, an astoundingly ugly British politician (David Mellor) was reported to have made love to his mistress wearing a Chelsea football club strip.

The next time he attended a Chelsea match, he got a standing ovation.

Had I been there, I wouldn't have booed Dick Cheney. Rather, I would have followed his lead and told him to go and get fucked.

"Digital Brownshorts"?? Michele, I think you've just inadvertently come up with a nickname for the blogging Left!

Haha. Freudian slip. But I like it.

Dweezil: Wow, that's a nice leap. Very reminiscent of a certain genius I know of:

Wile E. Coyote.

So do you think all those folks who booed Cheney on Tuesday will show up for the final two games wearing "Vote for the Red Sox fan" buttons in honor of John Kerry?

I imagine if John Kerry attended a Texans or Cowboys game in the fall, he'd get boo'ed in the same way. And it would matter just as much.

It was similar to the Moore booing at the Academy Awards: only five or six people booing very loudly.

We boo Giuliani at Shea Stadium all the time, don't think the fans don't know where the loyalties of these politicians lie.
