Holy CRIPE! It's CLUTCH! I went to see them in Grand Rapids, MI and then again in Detroit for New Years Eve!
Thanks, now I've got to go find the rest of the words to
'I'll put it on a platter!'

i just wanted to let you know that i have your utmost musical respect.
Posted by: The Puppettron | April 30, 2004 12:27 PM
Well, to name the song specifially its A Shogun Named Marcus, first track of their Transitional Speedway album. I can't remember the whole title of that album though.

Well, this is kinda creepy, considering my question that you answered the other day - I reached into the pile of CDs next to me and blindly pulled one out. Here's song 3 -
As I walk through
This wicked world
Searchin' for light in the darkness of insanity.
I ask myself
Is all hope lost?
Is there only pain and hatred, and misery?

Third song from my IPod's random shuffle:
Your Mama's yappin' in the back seat
Tell her to push over and move them big feet
Every Monday morning I gotta drive her down to the unemployment agency
Well this morning I ain't fighting tell her I give up
Tell her she wins if she'll just shut up
But it's the last time that she's gonna be riding with me

Click your heals
And feel you come for me
Care free, she's got something big to tell me
At the ocean
Talk back at the ocean
There's no simple way
To let you know
Funny how she always cried out daddy
I got a big surprise, she said
I'm in trouble now
and it cannot wait

Well here it comes
Here comes another day
Another decision on the way
Well here it comes
Here comes a color display
Of preferences to make
Well here it comes
Here comes a knock on the door
Open it for
An opportunity
Well here it comes
Here comes another day
For memories to be made

currently third in my iTunes playlist...
What am I to you ?
Tell me darlin' true
To me you are the sea
Vast as you can be
And deep the shade of blue
When you're feelin' low
To whom else do you go ?
I'd cry if you hurt
I'd give you my last shirt
Because I love you so

The nearest CD to hand here at my desk, this song isn't really structured the way this "meme" would have it, but this is as close to a "third verse" as it comes:
"Carried a switchblade knife in his left hip pocket
And a .44 hog-leg up under his coat
Cut you down in a New York minute
If he catch you cheating that was all she wrote"
Posted by: Billy Beck | April 30, 2004 04:16 PM
Oops. Don'tcha hate it when you suddenly lose the ability to read? The nearest thing to a first verse:
"Now Johnny Lee Walker was a card mechanic
Had a hand for trouble and an eye for cash
Luckiest man in Dallas County
He had a gold watch chain and a black mustache"
Posted by: Billy Beck | April 30, 2004 04:18 PM
yay for Clutch fans! Guess I'll have to put up a little music tonight for the uninitiated.

The third song on my main MP3 playlist:
I used to watch her sleep an angel on vacation
I fell in love so deep far too far to mention
She looked just like a thousand stars
when they came out at night
but when I looked inside her heart
I found it locked up tight

Now this is a game I can't play. There are three CDs on top of the CD player, and none of them have words. There are almost never CDs with words in this stereo.

done... hey, Billy...
Posted by: Jim h | April 30, 2004 09:02 PM
She got it all
The boys they would crawl
Away from her door then they come back again
But don't let 'em in
Smoking their gin
Leaving their best foot out in the cold
I'm a waste of a momma's boy
It's a shame they say
There's so much you know he'll never enjoy
All the love you come to destroy
From one of the best CDs no one has heard of, IMO.

I am out of it. I've never even heard of Clutch. Of course odds are you've never listened to BlackHawk.

Third song on (my admittedly small) playlist.
I just want to feel
Safe in my own skin
I just want to be
Happy again
I just want to feel
Deep in my own world
But im so lonely i dont even want to be with myself any more.
