ted rall is not eating garbage for dinner tonight
On Ted Rall:
Rall is not out on the streets begging for kitchen scraps because the New York Times canned him. He didn't get paid for those strips. He let the Times have them for FREE. So he has not lost one freaking cent, is not unemployed, will not go on welfare or work the corners and is still printed in many other publications. So nobody killed his career or cut off his life support. In fact, he probably gained a few readers from the publicity his "firing" got him.
On the IAFF supporting Kerry:
Gasp! A union supporting a Democrat? How strange! How uncommon!
Not.
Maybe I'll expand on this later, maybe I won't.

He's not?!? Is there no justice!
On the other hand, if his business acumen is such that he's giving the stuff away, one suspects that the scraps may not be too far off.

I know your feelings about Bush and am not about to try and change them, but often overlooked are the 2005 budget cuts impacting first responders. Better than 200 million dollars has been cut in grants, primarily impacting the rural departments that need the monsy the most. Bush has also proposed abandonment of the SAFER act which provides money to maintain staffing levels for fire and EMS services.
This may not be a deal breaker, but it's just another one of those niggling little things about Bush that bother me so much. We're all in favor of homeland security, but it shouldn't come at the expense of the folks next door. It's not hard to see why some firefighters might have a difficult time reconciling the use of their images in a campaign ad with his actions.

I'm as big a fan of firefighters and cops as you'll find, but I've never understood why people should have to send tax money to Washington to have the federal government send it back to the local government to spend on local services. I'm a New York City taxpayer, and I expect my local police & fire protection to come out of my local taxes, not my federal taxes.

That is too rich. The Times won't take stuff he's giving away? Oh, that gives me a nice warm feeling.

Hmm, a union who has a large preponderance of Irish-Americans supporting an Irish-American Democrat for President. Go figure.

More hypocritical BS from the fringes; contrast their outrage over Bush using 9/11 images harming the victim's familes and Rall's famous concern for the widows. On and there's a new thread hoping Ashcroft's emergency hosipital visit means he's dying including prayers for such.
Actaully the best thing to do about DU is to call them what they are...a leftwing version of Free Republic.....they HATE that.

I believe that Kerry isn't actually Irish-American, his last name notwithstanding -- but I don't care enough to check myself.
