Today, Matt Drudge released some assinine story about John Kerry. It would be believable, except for one little factoid nugget:... [Read More]

By now perhaps you have heard something about John Kerry and an extramarital affair. I have no new information or original thoughts to offer on that subject. I am struck, however, by the commentary this episode has generated about the... [Read More]

Monicagate is to Drudge as Vietnam is to Kerry. He's reliving the day he changed history.
Nobody ever said he wasn't a gossip. If he's got the goods to preempt the news cycle, I can't blame him for some self-promotion.

Well if Monica/Bill situation was enough to lead to an impeachement surely it is better this comes out before the convention then after it.
Edwards for President :)

He is not a news site. He has never claimed his site is a news source. He is doing what Drudge does. I said it before and I'll say it again, he is the Walter Winchell of the internet.

Here we go again. Why not "update" your late-in-the-Cal-recall rant--it was a pip!
Folks, if you didn't see it then, click here for a good time.

I love when Drudge brings out the flashing police light ani gif!

We need a law declaring that it's OK for politicians to boff interns.

"Monicagate is to Drudge as Vietnam is to Kerry. He's reliving the day he changed history"
True....my favorite absurdity is Drudge calling it a world exclusive when other people (he cites Time, WaPo etc) are actually doing the investigating/journalism on the story.

"We need a law declaring that it's OK for politicians to boff interns. "
LOL
Here's the kicker...Kerry boffing an intern INCREASES my favorable opinion of him. It's different than Clinton because he hasn't lied about it...yet.
Before Kerry reminded me way too much of the Apple Trees in the Wizard of Oz with his speaking style and "craggy" looks. Now he seems more human. Strange times....

Earlier, I was going to post, as a joke, "Kerry's having an affair? Geez, as if he didn't have the Democratic nomination sewn up already, now he's clinched it!"
Now, with Ryan's comment that it increases his favorable opinion, I'm not so sure it would come off as a joke.
It will be interesting to see how this affects the Kerry futures at Tradesports.com

I bet it's Chris Lehane - all the way. It had to be.
On another note, I happened to notice this very unfortunate Wash Post/Banner Ad combination for Mr. Kerry a few minutes ago.
I had to preserve it.

Hmm, the Title may be a case of the pot calling the crack kettled, n'cest pas?

After The Enquirer broke the JJ love child story, I read it wanted to become more legit. Hired more reporters. The Enquirer broke this, too. Was on the cover.
And let's face it, the stars are planting those stories.

now this wouldn't be a ploy to get Hill in at a brokered convention now could it? nah. i mean sure Dean proved himself to be unelectable, Edwards has shown that he can win his home state and now Kerry is shown to have a little problem with his zipper (and enjoys the taste of bud from what i gather), but to think that Clarke, Bill Clinton's boy wd let this story out to ruin Kerry for Lady Hil? nah that wd be crazy.
Posted by: hen | February 12, 2004 02:15 PM
Yep! I said three months ago it would be a Clinton/Clark ticket in November. I told my mother, she can back me up.

I feel prescient. I was arguing with one of my loony left friends three days ago, and wrote this to her:
"And when the truth about Kerry starts coming out, he won't be able to be elected
dogcatcher. You're going to have another four years of Bush. Get used to it!"

Sorry, hate to ruin a decent joke.

ya know, I just don't care. If every man who ever philandered lost their job, we'd have rampant unemployment. it's not a crime.
he deserves to lose his wife, not his job.

"he deserves to lose his wife, not his job."
True...if he was President and not a candidate.

It wont hurt his campaign. Infidelity is Standard Operating Procedure for liberals.
As far as Matt going Enquirer, you might want to listen to his radio show; its less 'fictional' and more opinionated.
Posted by: scot | February 12, 2004 06:14 PM
I think that depends on the meaning of the word "is".

When Drudge first posted this bilge yesterday, I searched several other media websites. Imagine, not a sniff of this "breaking scandal" anywhere. In this day and age, if there were smoke, don't you think every reporter looking for a scalp would be leaping into the fire?
I realize that Drudge tilts rightward, but does he really want to be known as the Conservative National Enquirer? This was a joke. Here it is, 24 hours later, and NO ONE is even breathing heavily about this story. Sorry, Matt; no smoke, no fire.
How about going back to impersonating a journalist?
