i'm such a lemming: movie version
Oh what the hell. Everyone else is doing it. I bet you'll do it too [and if you don't have a blog, feel free to use my comments for your list]!
Supposedly this is a list of someone's favorite movies. But it's not. I knew it looked familiar and, sure enough, it's the first 100 of the IMDB top 250. No matter. I'll play along anyhow.
I'm not following Solly's rules. Too many. So, the bolded movies are ones I've seen. The underlined movies are the movies on the list that I own. I think I'll tackle the other 150 movies later as a blatant attempt at putting off laundry, etc.
What would be really interesting is to see how many of the IMDB's bottom 100 we all have seen or own.

15. But I'm not sayin' which ones...

You haven't seen "Its a Wonderful Life"!?! That is sort of a amazing accomplishment, since for a while there it was being shown on television about 400 times a year.

14. Most closer to the bottom.
Michele, you don't have "It's a Wonderful Life" in bold. Is that a mistake?
If you have any desire to see any of the movies on the list that you haven't seen yet, I'd move "The General" (Buster Keaton, '27) way up the list. (I't's my own #1)

I only have one recommendation: see CIty of God (Cidade de Deus) again and again, once it comes out on DVD.

I think we only have three movies difference (you've seen/I've not, or vice versa). And you own a ton of them!
Will you marry me (when I become a widower, of course)...

Egads....I have seen in the theater, on tape or on TV, 44 of the worst movies ever!....and at least half I have watched more than once.
Having Shaq or Hulk Hogan seems to be the reverse midas touch....shocking!
Glad to see on the list two of the worst movie ever from furture box office stars...Hercules in NY (in which Ahnuld first shows off his acting chops) and Going Overboard (which will drive any Adam Sandler fan to suicide)
One complaint.....Dumb and Dumberer while not up to the original was surprisingly very funny.

Does it count if you saw some of the bottom 100 on MST3K... I mean, who hasn't seen 'Manos' the Hands of Fate and Santa Claus Conquers the Martians with Crow and Tom Servo?

Interestingly, there are few movies on that list that I own, but have not seen. Maybe I should get off my lazy ass and sit my lazy ass down on the couch and watch them...
Then again, I only got around to watching The Two Towers, for the first time, two weeks ago.

i've seen 14 on the top 100, and 9 on the bottom 100. is that good or bad?
Posted by: mikey | January 16, 2004 04:49 PM
I've seen 10 of the bottom 100, none on MST3K.
I've seen 47 of the top 100, and own 15 of them.
Not very impressive, I guess.

Wheeewwwww....saving grace as I have seen 53 of the 100 best and own 18 of them.
Posted by: Ryan | January 16, 2004 05:16 PM
I've seen 76 of the top 100, but in my defense I have seen most of them several times. The bottom 100? I am happy to report I have only seen 4. I went out of my way to see Plan 9 from Outer Space of course, the rest were unhappy accidents.

Heh, I have to confess I have lists of top 100 books posted on my site with the ones I've read bolded. Haven't considered movies though.

D'oh! I meant to say all but 14, and those are closer to the bottom. So I'm 86/100.
Posted by: scott h. | January 16, 2004 06:54 PM
I have seen 92 of the top 100, but I only own 17 of them.
You're missing out on Bogart's best movie if you haven't seen Treasure of the Sierra Madre. :)
I second Scott's vote for seeing "The General", though. Keaton really was one of a kind.

How can you not have seen Citizen Kane??!?! I'm appalled again. Get your ass over here and plant in on the couch. I'll pop in the video and serve you a frosty beverage.
