last word on eminem, plus video game voting

Dennis Dennehy, a spokesman for [Eminem], told CNN the song was not ready for release. "This was an unfinished song, either lost or stolen," Dennehy said. "There was no determination where, when, how or if it was going to be used."

It's also a pro-gun song. Put that in conservative pipe and smoke it.

You have a half hour left to cast your vote in the first category. Asteroids is kicking ass.

Hey, I'm pro-handgun - I just don't anyone to have one.

(old joke, and yes I have a handgun, so don't freak)

(Yes, I do. Odd knee-jerk liberal, I know)

Interesting comments in the other threads.

On "Eminem isn't an artist." Of course he is. Just because you don't like it doesn't automatically mean it's not art.

On Eminem just trying to generate controversy - see Michelle's post above.

On the comment that "I can't tell you how depressing it is to see lyrics about mysogyny, assault, murder, rape, drugs and crime appreciated as an art form" we might want to start condemning (and getting depressed about) all the country music and blues singers (not to mention those nasty opera-writers) who have been doing it for longer than any of us have been alive.

Good commentary on this, Michele.

Seems we were on the same train of thought yesterday Michele.

I found and posted the entire song in question for those who have failed to do so.

And yes, it is a pro-gun song and how messed up it is that people try to take that right away.

And, again, my sentiments were quite similar to yours, Michele, how ironic that many conservative bloggers, who are pro-gun, just ran with the one line in the song without even trying to read the rest of it.

Hopefully we can move on now.

Oh and Ben Weasel.....good call on the country and western music. Heh.

Ben, come on. Songs about alcoholism or drugs ruining your life are just a little bit removed from "muthaf&@*in ho" and "pop a cap in his head".

I never said anyone didn't have the right to express themselves...I said it's sad to me personally. It cut close to home when some ten year old punk called my daughter a "ho". Sure, other art forms speak around the same message...but a moral equivalence argument is pretty weak.

I hope that dumb ass gets what he has comming. If you think the first amendment in anyway helps this dumb ass, take a look at 18 USC Sec. 871. It is clear that he has violated the intent of this FEDERAL statute. I hope he gets confined to a federal "pound-me-in-the-ass prison."
In short, don't make statements that could be seen as threats to the president and try to hide behind the first amendment. He should stick to talking about his ex-wife and his mother.
DOWN WITH "SLIM SHADY"
