what if god was one of us?
The devout Christian says she has permission from God to wear sexy clothes and strip on stage but not to have a girl-on-girl snog. In an interview with the Sun, she reckons the church has no problem with her shaking her booty in hot pants. But she draws the line at the antics of stars like Madonna and Britney Spears, who recently shared a full-on kiss at the MTV Awards. She says: "I have standards. There are things I will not do....I always carry myself like a lady. I don't feel like I ever do anything raunchy." And she adds: "It's entertainment and I believe God is OK with that.
Nope nothing to see here. No raunchiness here at all. Standards, such standards.

Um...what's a Beyonce? I must be way out of touch.
What a drag it is getting old...

It seems that Christians are always called on the carpet when they do something apparently inconsistent with a "Christian lifestyle," if there is one per se. The key to being a Christian is following Christ and accepting his forgiveness. Granted, there usually are lifestyle changes that occur, but it happens in stages and with growth.
I do disagree with Beyonce on this point, though.

i want a whole book of "God told me it's okay to..." or "God told me I should..." But the caveat is that each person must explain, as explicitly as possible, how God delivered that cipher or missive and what was the content.
endlessly fascinating.

Dang, Michele, you could at least have found a picture of Beyonce's Bouncing Boobies (now that has a lively ring to it - dare I say it even rolls off the tongue?)

Whatever helps her sleep better at night...

She's not a Christian, but she plays one for the cameras......from some entertainment rag I happened across-
E! Networks' Rubin said such fashion fads are in a constant state of ebb and flow.
"It's a cyclical trend — bad girls are in, then good girls are in," she said. "Definitely now, you're seeing a lot more sweetness and playful innocence."
Beyonce plays SUPER good(Christian?) to be on the leading edge of the current good-girl trend.
Whatever, I don't watch her anyway. Not won't. Can't. Too damn beautiful for me too look at her for long without wanting to commit hara-kiri for not being worthy, ya know? Yeah, I know it is all airbrushing and makeup and tens of thousands of dollars of beauty products and beauty consultants, but that doesn't affect what I see. I've actually seen her here in Houston, and I still couldn't look at her for long without feeling an incredible feeling that I truly cannot explain. Wasn't lust, though it was there, wasn't love, I'm not that stupid, wasn't awe either. Maybe it was what stalkers feel? Which is why I make it a point to not follow her career at all, I don't think Beyonce-worship is a healthy thing.

See - this is why I hate God.

Sometimes I think we were better off with hand copied printing or primitive printing presses. In today's age of electronic media, instant communication, and easy publishing, I just get to hear more and more of the stupid shit that comes out of most people (this blog excepted, of course). I would have liked to be able to maintain my illusion that people were basically not morons.
Of course, pop stars, movie stars, etc... are not selected for their intelligence. Obviously.

But then you'd be living in an illusion. And then you'd be the moron.

Give Beyonce a break. The good lord has given her a calling to shake her thing in skimpy clothing. I think this shows the lords infinite wisdom (the proof is in the pictures). I just thank God that the good lord did not give Michael Moore permission to dance around in skimpy clothing.

NOW THAT IS A GOOD VISUAL IMAGE!
Argh! I am now soaking my eyeballs in Chlorox...
I am a Christian and God told me to be rich...okay everybody, send me money, loot and swag.

OK SHTETL, that's a point in God's favor.
However, it is far more than counter-balanced by the horrifying fact that he chose to give her (and virtually every other pop diva of the day) a microphone.
We used to have incredible talents like Darlene Love, Ronnie Spector, Carla Thomas. Now we have Beyonce, Britney and Christina.
Seems like God's idea of a sick joke to me. Why couldn't he/she/it just let them be spokesmodels, and let some real women with real talent handle the singing?

Um, what did she think That Kiss was about? True love?

Beyonce is not saved. She is deceived. Beyonce needs our prays, not our criticism. Please pray that she will come to know the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

I dont know if Beyonce is a Christian or not. If she says that she's one.. fine. I can only take what any human being says at face value and assume that they're telling the truth. But for her to say that God has given her permission somehow to brance around in sexy outfits with her boobies hanging out, to dance provocatively on stage and on camera...I think that she is hopeflessly decieved at best and a outright liar at worst. I wonder if she has even read five minutes of an actual Bible. She must have missed the parts that touched on feminine modesty and outright sensual behavior. This is just another reason why people who are not Christians do not take the Christian faith seriously.

elgin, have you ever read song of songs?
not much modesty there my dear.
does anyone know where on the web i can find any interviews that were conducted with beyonce, regarding her christianity?

Song of Songs is about the joys of intimacy between husband and wife. Solomon is using Personification and imagery to empasize the beauty of his bride. Within the context of marriage, sex is a good thing. God created sex, but we perverted it.
I don't believe Beyonce is a Christian; if she is, she is definitely ignoring Jesus words, "...to look at a woman with lust is to commit adultery with her in your heart." She doesn't realize how many are sinning because of her actions.
