hail to the king, baby

bubbaho.jpgWhen John does his bloggers favorite movies list again next year, I know what I'll be adding to my own: Bubba Ho-Tep.

I just watched the trailer. Again. I've been following the making of this film forever.

Elvis (Bruce Campbell) teams up with Jack(Ossie Davis), a fellow nursing home resident who thinks that he is actually President John F. Kennedy, and the two valiant old codgers sally forth to battle an evil Egyptian entity who has chosen their long-term care facility as his happy hunting grounds.

Do I sense an instant classic in the making? Yes, I do.

So, who's going to meet me September 26th at the Angelika to watch it? I'll buy the popcorn.

Heheh, that trailer rocked ass when I saw it last week. Good choice, Michele.

That looks so cool. I love Bruce anyway. Interesting..

This may just be the vehicle that comes along at exactly the right time to unveil the great new American sex symbol and object of desire for millions of teenage girls: Ossie Freakin' Davis.

Any movie with Elvis in it is instantly cool. True Romance and, by default, 3000 Miles to Graceland. Add Bruce Campbell too! Gonna be a great summer.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed this flick. I even wrote about it on my blog.

You a Joe Lansdale fan? "Bubba Ho-tep" is based on one of his short stories.

Bruce Campbell was just in a car accident. Drunk hit him, but he's okay.

Hmm.

If you scroll down quickly, that picture looks like something completely different.

'bout time this film got released.

Hey, I don't know about that movie michelle, though it sounds funny, but, if anyone's interested, let's all go see Freddy VS Jason, MY treat, whatdoya say? hehe

Although, if it's Bruce Campbell playing Elvis, hell, I'll go see that!!! Bruce is the shit hehe

Ooh, they'd better be releasing that here (MN) sooner than November. I don't feel like traveling to Chicago to see a movie, and this one I gotta see.

see ya there, babe! ain't no way I'm turning down free popcorn or elvis.

I am so freakin' jealous. It ain't coming anywhere near me and I am a big Bruce Campbell fan.

I love Bruce Campbell's work. I'll have to see if it's going to play near me. Sounds like a lot of fun. Will it replace "Army of Darkness" as my favorite? Only time will tell.

Bruce! Bruce! Bruce!

If the invite's still open, then I think I might very well be interested in seeing it with you Michele. And hey, it's also a great excuse for me to meet the infamous Michele!

Life can be good sometimes.

Saw this here in Houston months ago. Bruce was here for a pre-show Q&A and to sign copies of his book.

Very entertaining guy and a pretty good flick. Has some creepy visual elements to it, but I think they may have been trying just a teensy bit too hard and too often for the winning one-liner. Still, well worth the price of admission.

I'm SO THERE. I called the day I found out it was going to be there, found out what I need to do to get tickets, called my wife and said:
YOU ARE GOING WITH ME TO THE ANGELIKA SEPTEMBER 26TH. BRUCE CAMPBELL. BUBBA HO TEP. YOU HAVE NO CHOICE.
She said:
GIMME SOME SUGAR BABY.
