requisite tuesday night american idol post

Hidden for those who haven't watched it yet.

Kimberley - sucked ass
Ruben - Ok, better than the last two weeks
Josh - boooooooooooring
Clay - should be the winner

Clay totally showed his versatility tonight. His detractors claim he is just another Broadway wannabe, but I thought his rendition of Grease proved otherwise.

Though I can totally see him as Conrad Birdie in Bye, Bye Birdie.

Kimberley looks like Robin Givens. Unfortunately, she sang like Mike Tyson. I don't know why Simon loves her so much - her screeching tonight hurt my ears.

Josh does nothing for me. There's no oomph to his act.

Ruben has a wonderful voice. He's just not making me swoon like he did the first few shows.

I was really hoping someone would do I Started a Joke. If you can pull that song off, you can sing.

And that's my four cents.

Yep, even though Josh doesn't belong in this competition, I think he will survice another week. He was good enough and Kimberly wasn't particularly exciting. I've said it since the initial auditions and I'll say it again - Clay will win.

Kimberly was awful. I kept wincing...

Josh was sexy. (He still has the most sex appeal in this competition,) And I thought his singing was fine, much better than Kimberly, but not as good as Ruben or Clay.

It was Clay's rendition of Grease that made me think of what a huge star I hope he will be on Broadway. He's amazing.

I think Ruben did well, but Clay better. I don't know which one will win, though. I guess I don't really care, because they are both good. I think Clay fits the mold better, but neither he nor Ruben is really a "pop" star. Actually, none of them are. All the pop stars have been voted off. Now we have a country singer, Broadway singer, and two soul singers.

Oh well. I am still obsessed.

I'm not a huge fan of Clay, but I must admit he absolutely nailed that first song last night. It was perfect. I'm still betting on Ruuuuuuuben to win it though.

Yeah, I'm still rooting for Ruben too. I think it's going to really come down to Clay or Ruben. I don't like the other two, but I don't think I like Josh as much because I'm not a big "country" fan.

Does it seem like Clay has developed a slight "better than you" attitude, or do you think he has just gotten more confident as the competition has gone on?

Perhaps it's just me.

Normally I stay as far away from non-Simpsons prime-time network TV as physics will allow, but my sister talked me into watching that show last night, and that "Clay" guy... yeah, he's a good (if rather artificial-sounding) singer, but GOD is he creepy! He's a Barry Manilow in training!

I guess my favorite of these was Ruben - Kimberly and Josh were rather "meh" and Clay made me want to hide under the couch...

Oh, and btw, they have MUCH better shows of this type in Japan. _

tenth-muse.com described Clay as "Disney gay" last night. I think that just about sums it up...

Clay increasingly bothers the piss out of me. He seriously creeps me out and I'd be glad if he were somehow ousted tonight.

Does anyone else believe Clay is Barry Manilow's love child?

if ruben won, it would be such a waste, i know you don't have to be perfect, but let's face it--he's HUGE! when he's done singing, he can barely breathe, he's so out of shape. what are they going to do with him if he wins? he'll stand on the stage and sing the same sounding songs OVER and OVER. he can't dance or do anything fun. his voice is good, but definitely nothing outstanding. now clay, on the other hand, now there a guy with an amazing, distinct voice and great stage presence.

something that REALLY makes me mad is how they kept telling clay to change up his performance, but ruben does exactly the same kind of song every time and they never say anything about him. it pisses me off how for every single ruben performance, even the really boring and mediocre ones, randy raves and raves about how amazing ruben is. personally, i think randy is a little prejudiced against whites.

oh, and in response to some of the previous posts, where do you get off comparing barry manilow and clay aiken? that doesn't even make sense. if anyone's trying to pull off the barry manilow thing, it's ruben (and while he may be somewhat succeeding in doing this, IT DOESN'T WORK FOR HIM). even the judges on the show have said so.

Throwing in issues like being gay or being black (I've seen this at other sites) does nothing and is such a waste of time. If people make it an issue they've got their own sad life to deal with.
