music is the theme of the day
I guess today is Music day here at a small victory.
Guest post from my sister Lisa.
I Went to see Scorpions last night. Halfway through I remembered they're from Germany. "Weasels!" I cried. Then, after a break, , the drummer runs out on stage wearing red & blue shorts with stars on them and a big Uncle Sam hat. They go into "Winds of Change.”
Winds of Change I follow the Moskva
Down to Gorky Park
Listening to the wind of change
An August summer night
Soldiers passing by
Listening to the wind of changeThe world is closing in
Did you ever think
That we could be so close, like brothers
The future's in the air
I can feel it everywhere
Blowing with the wind of changeTake me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
in the wind of changeWalking down the street
Distant memories
Are buried in the past forever
I follow the Moskva
Down to Gorky Park
Listening to the wind of changeTake me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow share their dreams
With you and me
Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
in the wind of change
The wind of change
Blows straight into the face of time
Like a stormwind that will ring the freedom bell
For peace of mind
Let your balalaika sing
What my guitar wants to sayTake me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow share their dreams
With you and me
Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
in the wind of change
Music and Lyrics by Klaus Meine
Take from that what you will. It made me smile.

Michele don't let your sister go see washed up 80's metal bands. It's dangerous.

Washed up 80's metal bands are fun! If it made you smile, that is all that matters!

Hey, the Scorpions are cool, in their own way.

Is going to see bands like Scorpion what Long Island white trash does?

Oh wow... teenage flashback... that was one of my favourite songs 10 years ago... still resonates now....
Ahhhh... [floats off down memory lane]

You guys don't even know the half of it.
Whitesnake and Dokken were also there.

Michele has no say in what I do. I went to the show BECAUSE I AM A PROUD PRODUCT OF THE 80's. And sorry, Harry. I think you've cornered the market on white trash.

Washed up 80s bands are fun, but I wouldn't trust them with pyrotechnics for any amount of money.

The drummer is the former drummer from Kingdom Come, and he's from Kentucky. James Kottke I believe, no relation to Jason Kottke. Their original drummer is running a record label with the Prince of Monoco....yes really.

They're weasels because they're German? All Germans are alike? Are all Americans alike, and do they all agree about whatever their government does? This is the kind of logic that people use to attack any American anywhere.

Mike,
Is Jason Kottke related to LEO Kottke perhaps? That would be very, very strange...

Ah jaysus, I meant this:
Is either one of 'em related to Leo Kottke?

hey, i'd go see the scorps and dokken in concert. well, whitesnake too, but only if they played "Slow and Easy", and then I'd leave after that.

This is an awesome song. It had a deep meaning in the 1980's.
