long haired country boy
-- country singer CHARLIE DANIELS, in an open letter to Hollywood celebrities opposed to war with Iraq.
I was a huge Charlie Daniels fan when I went through my country rock stage during sophomore year of high school.
Good to see he's still the same old Charlie.

Woohoo! You go Charlie!

Yeah, I think celebs should really shut up.

So, do you think that people who are opposed to war against Iraq are some of the most disgusting examples of a waste of protoplasm you've ever had the displeasure to hear about?
All of them?

Nah. Just the people who carry around signs that equate America to Nazi Germany.

Dang. Devil went down to Georgia and got his ASS handed to him.

Damn, I knew I liked that guy :-)

Man, he switches back and forth for me. One minute he's calling me a vile sinner for being gay, and the next he's telling the celebs to shut their yaps.
I don't know whether to like him or not. :-)

Eh, I had no idea he was a homophobe.
Damn.
Posted by: michele | March 6, 2003 09:16 AM
Umm, Michele just because Charlie Daniels thinks being gay is sinful does not mean he's a homophobe.
Not in the least.
Thinking something is sinful does not mean he is afraid of it. Also, most faiths believe it to be sinful.

Oliver, we meant the stupid ones should shut up.

But Ken! Conservative celebs are stupid! Get it? If you're conservative, you must be stupid. Conservative = stupid. And evil. And a bad dresser. And you probably drive a gas guzzler; it's in the Conservative Clubhouse rules.
Don't question. The liberals have spoken!

Re: "most faiths find homosexuality sinful."
Mine doesn't.

This is the same Charlie Daniels who previously said that God allowed 9/11 to happen to teach the country a lesson.

Charlie on Homosexuality "I don't hate homosexuals. It's called a sin in the Bible, but I'm not going to get out on the street and tell somebody that. That's up to them."
I don't have a date for the quote, but it's definitely after his screed on homosexuality and the other causes of the 9/11 attacks.
I'd say he was pretty chastened by the general response to the "sinnin' brought this upon us argument".
Can't say this for sure, as he writes twice weekly essays and I haven't the time to wade thru them all
Oh, and BTW, I've got a link to the whole letter over at Hraka.
Cold Fury has one on his site, too

Andrea, you forgot to add that we kick puppies, get the giggles every time a kindergardner gets blown up, spray CFCs directly at the crumbling ozone layers, and fall asleep at night cuddling our guns in huge piles of money payed to us by large, evil corporations.
