what's the buzz

"I've got a bad feeling about this."

That's the quote that keeps running through my head all day. Just an underlying current of anxiety or fear - not mine, but more like a collective anxiety or fear. Something is a-brewing and it smells really rank.

There's been a low voltage buzz in my head all day. Either I'm a) picking up signals from space station; b) acting quite cat-like, in that cats generally know when something bad is going to happen or c) leaning in too close to the microwave when I'm waiting for it to beep and I've become radioactive.

Anyone else feeling it?

Go down a post or two and vote for your favorite movie thigamajigs that I never gave a name to.

Aye, i"m in agreement. Actually, after realizing that it's going to be a Raiders/Buccaneers superbowl (I'm a Raiders girl, it's painful to watch Gruden in something other than black and silver), I just have the funny feeling in my head that we're going to start bombing the shizat out of Iraq soon. I'm not a pacifist, I'm not a conscientious objector, but when the planes start rolling, the bombs start dropping, I start getting tense. My guess is the week after the SuperBowl. that's just my take on things. Times, they be a-changin.

Well, if its "a" or "c" you could make yourself a little tinfoil hat.

Tin foil caps are cool!

Well, apart from in thunderstorms and when you stick your head into a microwave. Kids just don't do it!

However, I've been having the slowly growing feeling that something bad is going to happen soon - but with the US President and the UK Prime Minister appearing to go against the public opinion it could explain it.

Weird. I had a dream last night that I was flying into Las Vegas. I was looking out the window of the plane as we were getting ready to land and noticed a streak of fire from the ground heading straight towards the plane. It was a misslie and it was coming at us in slow motion. That is all I remember about the dream. Spooky.

I've had weird dreams the past few nights. Last night was about me in the middle of a river washing roasting chickens being chased by swimming reindeer.

But the night before, it was about being trapped in my car with my husband as a nuke goes off in front of us.

Definitely weird vibes lately.

My god man...they aren't called 'tin foil hat's', they're called "Aluminum Foill Deflector Beanies" (http://zapatopi.net/afdb.html). And they are quite stylish!

I have the news on 24 hours a day.

I just realized I haven't watched 'Food Network' in two weeks.

I need an Emeril break.

(For the last month I keep looking out the window onto the city that I live in and wonder what I should do if I saw a bright flash)

If it's a tinfoil hat you need and you want to make your own, maybe this cosmic ray deflection hat will do the trick? Easy to make... you could put some tequila bottle caps on it, even.

On the war fears everyone's posting... I'll bet a bottle of tequila that this one's over even faster than Afghanistan. And the only reason there will be significant Iraqi fatalities is that Saddam will gas his own people again... but not very effectively.

Have you considered a Thought Screen Helmet??

Personally, I think the calm before the storm is finally drawing to a close.

We will be at war in Iraq within the month. Even when they are just, and even when they go well, they are terrible.

The British are scrambling to find an unknown quantity of ricin and the people who are holding it. The next two months are likely to be, well, quite newsworthy.

My paranoid thoughts:

Operations in Iraq will commence within the next month and will go relatively smoothly, barring the employment of NBC weapons by the Iraqis. Conventionally, they are no match.

I do think there will be Islamist revenge attacks in the west during/after the operation in Iraq though. Dunno what form they will take.

Buy guns and ammo while you can. Put in some time on the range. Be ready & hope for the best.

(just a little paranoid maybe)

Well not to make you feel worse...but the world probably figures to end/change someday...

I was reading Matthew 24 which is interesting.

Signs of the End of the Age

1Jesus left the temple and was walking away when his disciples came up to him to call his attention to its buildings. 2"Do you see all these things?" he asked. "I tell you the truth, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down."
3As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. "Tell us," they said, "when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?"
4Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you. 5For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,1 ' and will deceive many. 6You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8All these are the beginning of birth pains.
9"Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
15"So when you see standing in the holy place 'the abomination that causes desolation,'2 spoken of through the prophet Daniel--let the reader understand-- 16then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17Let no one on the roof of his house go down to take anything out of the house. 18Let no one in the field go back to get his cloak. 19How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! 20Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. 21For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now--and never to be equaled again. 22If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. 23At that time if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or, 'There he is!' do not believe it. 24For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect--if that were possible. 25See, I have told you ahead of time.
26"So if anyone tells you, 'There he is, out in the desert,' do not go out; or, 'Here he is, in the inner rooms,' do not believe it. 27For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.
29"Immediately after the distress of those days
" 'the sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light;
the stars will fall from the sky,
and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.'3
30"At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. 31And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.
32"Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 33Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it4 is near, right at the door. 34I tell you the truth, this generation5 will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 35Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

Believe the prophecies of Jesus or not regarding when the Second Coming shall be...virtually everything on the list from Matt 25 is checked off--and has been for some time.

I don't think you're imagining it - here in LA, we're getting helicopters circle around the same area, day after day. I think I need to bring in my binoculars to see what type they are.

Sure it wasn't the flying Elvises bailing out, Brent?

I had visions of Armageddon before Gulf War 1. Not gettin those now.

I've been feeling uneasy on and off since 9/11. Waiting for the other shoe to drop. The first shoe was so horrible, that I'm really scared of the next one. I don't think I'd have the stomach to live in Israel. Over there, the uneasy feeling isn't paranoia, it's being rational.

Peat - I read and re-read that scripture. I could find no indication of anything that related to events past or present. Really. Try coming up with one correlation, and I think you'll be stumped.

Y'know, peat, I'd give a lot more credence to that quote as a prophecy if it hadn't already used to predict the end of the world on so many earlier occasions... unsuccessfully, each time.

Methinks it's crying wolf again, and I'm not gonna hold my breath.

I about had a panic attack around lunchtime today. It was not good.

I woke up with a feeling of doom this morning too. I think it was hormonal. Prozac makes me feel all better.
