to america, with love

I will now transcribe for you the entire contents of Ol' Dirty Laden's letter to the United States:

Assimilate or die, you heathen bastards!

Your friendly neighborhood megalomaniac

See, he only cares about us. He just wants us to convert to Islam for own good. He is only looking out for our best interests. Let's thank him. You know, check out his wishlist, send him something for Ramadam.

I'm thinking something that explodes on contact would be nice.

I keep reading this letter. It is quite fascinating.

(ii) You are the nation that permits Usury, which has been forbidden by all the religions. Yet you build your economy and investments on Usury. As a result of this, in all its different forms and guises, the Jews have taken control of your economy, through which they have then taken control of your media, and now control all aspects of your life making you their servants and achieving their aims at your expense; precisely what Benjamin Franklin warned you against.

I think he stole that from Cynthia McKinney's campaign speech.

Ben Franklin? When did he ever say anything like that? I must have cut history class that day.

I just read through the letter. Whoever wrote it is brilliant. It has just enough in it to make every leftist go, "Well....he has a point on a lot of that" while they feel guilty about being upset over the "Convert to Islam or die!" part.

I get really tired about the whole usury argument in Islam. Muslims are prohibited from charging interest on loans, so how does a Muslim economy find anyone willing to lend money or provide venture capital? Under sharia law, a Muslim individual or bank can lend money and become a "partner" in a venture, for which they may demand a percentage of the profit derived from the venture. So tell me just what is the substantive difference between that, and making a profit via charging interest on a loan? Nothing, that's what. Absolutely nothing, other than semantics. Of course, coming up with twisted meanings of words and ignoring obvious contradictions have become such common behavior from some Muslims that maybe it should be considered the Sixth Pillar of Islam.

The Ben Franklin remark is about a supposed quote from Franklin warning us about the Jews takiong over America. It was a hoax on the net a few months ago. Apparently it isn't just phony uranium from Russian mobsters this fist-fucking sociopath has been buying lately.

And Binny - I got yer conversion right here. C'mon and get it.

Does he mean "neither a borrower nor a lender be"? Think that's from Ben Franklin's Poor Richard's Almanac, or Ecclesiastes, or Hamlet, or maybe a fortune cookie.

Ben Franklin? He's a dead white guy. Do they still teach stuff about dead white guys in today's schools?

Re: Osama's Thing About Usury
I'm basing this comment on a lecture I heard during a Shakespeare course over 40 years ago, so bear with me. The question being discussed was why Shylock was a money-lender. The theory offered was that the custom of Jews being money-lenders started during the Middle Ages, or even before. According to the medieval world view, everything had its divinely decreed place and function, and to oppose this divine order is a great sin. Gold is an inanimate object, so is incapable of the actions of animate things, such as voluntary motion, reproduction, or growth. An action that would cause gold to grow (usury) would be an act of grave impiety, like sorcery or witchcraft. Thus, to avoid endangering their souls, Christians relied on Jewish money-lenders.

I'm speculating at this point, but I expect that the muslim view would be similar to the medieval Christian view, that charging interest is an abomination akin to sorcery. Rather than deal with kufr moneylenders, they have developed elaborate partnership and discounting schemes instead.

Great point Ernie, one I first learned about in high school before it became more important to "accommodate"(sic) other religions and/or beliefs than to teach students such subjects as readin','ritin' and 'rithmatic.
Don't EVEN mention "The Scarlet Letter" in this day and age

Regarding the Jews and usury: I've been told that one of the primary reasons, if not the main reason, for the high amount of representation of Jews in the merchant and banking class is that during the middle ages in most of Europe, the Jews were prohibited by law from owning land. Deprived of the opportunity to earn a living via agriculture and other land-based industries, they resorted to the business world.

I have not independently fact-checked this bit of information, but it certainly sounds plausible.
