the hamster ate my baby!

the hamster ate my baby!

I posted a while ago about our hamsters and how they had babies and proceeded to eat several of them. Two survived, and we have been mesmerized by watching them grow from pink, alien-like beings to tiny fuzzy creatures who could finally walk without stumbling. They were probably about two inches long, if that, early this week.

Yesterday we found one of the babies, stiff as board, buried under the bedding.

Today, we found the other one, stiff, lifeless and....headless.

Just thought I'd share.

Have you considered the possibility that your hamsters may need psychiatric counseling? Obviously, if they're murdering their children, something terrible happened to them in their childhoods, and if you don't help them deal with it now, there will be a lifetime of pain and anguish for all...

Yeah. I just think your pets are screwed up. :)

Headless? Was it Hamster Bastille Day or something? Viva la Habitrail?

How about starting over with a new pet? Something sweet, and cuddly, that doesn't eat its young. Cats, dogs, even guinea pigs (which, by the way, aren't very smart or even amusing, but ARE vegetarians).

oh YUCK

i used to have a small hamster colony when i was younger, kind of a personal business. there's nothing uglier than a baby hamster, all pink and wrinkled at birth. and yeah, the mothers dooccasionally eat their babies, usually starting with the runts but once or twice i had one who would eat the whole litter. little satanic rodents, they are.

Give up on the hamsters. If you want to breed things, try something you can release into the wild. Maybe some kind of fish. Do you have room for a trout farm in the living room?

Well, I don't yet have children, but I've had the opportunity to witness other people with their kids that make me wonder if the hamsters don't have it right...

Who says you can't release hamsters into the wild? We have wild field hamsters here in Austria. They're vicious creatures. My cat used to bring them home.

Pix's sister's hamster ate his own ass. I think your guys take the cake though.

We had gerbils. Same deal. Many dead babies. And far too many living ones. Give up and get the kids a cat.

Umm... eww!

cool.

my cat has a habit of catching field mice and decapitating them. she leaves them on the porch for me to find when i go out for my morning cig. bloodied about the neck, eyes bulging.

just thought i'd share.

They are cat food. Cat food. That is all hamsters are good for.

But do let us know when she has another litter. This has been most entertaining.

She seems to be pregnant again. Akuma is a beast, forcing himself on her right after she had babies.

i still think the ass-eating hamster is grosser than this. but only by a little bit.

i hnow it is really nasty but it is normal
my hamsters had babies but she did not eat her babies. i knew that hamster might eat their own babies because the get disturbed or lefted out no food or water. Well, the baby hamsters are all adults but now she is still having more babies!!!
